  • Relaxed, simple pitches on a 450-acre family beef and arable farm
  • A 15-minute drive to Weymouth and 20 minutes from the Isle of Portland
  • A mile from the Jurassic Coast, with footpaths to Abbotsbury and Fleet
With a location just outside the Dorset National Landscape and only a mile from the Jurassic Coast, it's easy to see why one might want to settle here for quite some time… and that’s just what the family that runs Tatton Farm Campsite have done. The fourth generation runs this working beef and arable farm, and the fifth generation is rapidly falling in love with farm life too. Plenty of guests have found themselves rather fond of the place, too – there’s been a campsite successfully running here for more than 40 years. And what is it that’s kept the site so popular throughout that time? Well, perhaps the laidback atmosphere, the generous pitches and the fact that they’re surrounded by 450 acres of farmland… It’s all quite simple here – pitches are all on grass, and there is a sustainable eco toilet and shower block that saves a whopping 2.5 tonnes of CO2 every year. You may also be pleased to hear that the field is flat and accessible for those with mobility issues, and the toilets and showers are fully wheelchair accessible. There is also an ileostomy station designed by a family member who has a colostomy bag. With few distractions, guests can properly relax – waking up to birdsong and spotting the dairy herd passing by each morning and evening are the norm here. The pitches back onto woodland, so there’s wildlife to look out for too, and you may catch a glimpse of the wild deer that live here. Of course, the farm’s location helps with making it an attractive place to stay – it’s about a 15-minute drive to Weymouth’s town centre and beach, and there are rural footpaths running from the farm to the likes of Abbotsbury, Fleet, Chesil Beach and the Hardy Monument (or to Weymouth, in fact).

Liked Tony amd the owners are great hosts and care about the guests comfort . Nice introduction to the farm and facilities and then your left to crack on and enjoy the time away on your holiday. The shower block and cleaning / toilet block is excellent! The shower has temperature control and its own private area with ventilation and space around you to clean up and change etc. the toilets are cleaned regularly and it was brand new to use everyday. The location is excellent and quiet and very pleasant. If you like to camp / camper an or tent , and you appreciate nature and peace , this is the place to be ! We will be back .
Also the Wi-Fi is better than any hotel !! Which was a wonderful surprise . U can watch a movie in your tent at the end of the field with no problem .

Disliked Nothing to dislike/ it gives what you want for a break away from life’s busy schedule

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Iv stayed here a few times now, it’s a lovely site, the staff are very approachable, friendly and helpful, its so well priced

Disliked The only thing I can say that’s negative is the showers, although lovely new and clean, the shower stays on for what feels like 30 seconds so you have to keep pressing the button which is frustrating when trying to wash ur hair, .. but that’s a minor thing ,

Liked How friendly and helpful Vicky is. Beautiful clean showers and toilets. Had a filtered water tap and water tasted great with no twang. Well situated for us to drive to Tidmore point and collect fossils.

Local attractions

It’s really worth bringing your walking shoes along for a stay here, as you can set off on foot for lots of local attractions, take in some of the Jurassic Coast’s top scenery on a hike along the South West Coast Path, or do a circuit of the nearby Isle of Portland. If you’d rather head straight to the beach, get down to Weymouth’s family-friendly stretch to see if you can build sandcastles that will rival the displays at Sandworld sand sculpture park. Also in town are the Sea Life Centre, Pirate Adventure Mini Golf and a harbour for fishing or wildlife-spotting boat trips. For leisurely days out nearby, try a visit to Bennetts Water Gardens (10 minutes’ drive), Abbotsbury Swannery (15 minutes), RSPB Lodmoor (15 minutes) or Hardys Cottage (25 minutes) or set off to explore the ghost village of Tyneham (45 minutes). If you’re after something livelier for the kids, the likes of Monkey World (half an hour) and Dorset Adventure Park (40 minutes) are likely to hit the spot.
