With a location that’s just outside the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and only a mile from the Jurassic Coast, you can see why one might want to settle here for quite some time… and that’s just what the family that run Tatton Farm Campsite have done. It’s the fourth generation that now runs this working dairy farm, and the fifth is rapidly falling in love with farm life too. Plenty of guests have found themselves rather fond of the place too – in fact, there’s been a campsite successfully running here for more than 40 years. And what is it that’s kept the site so popular throughout that time? Well, perhaps the laidback atmosphere, the generous pitches and the fact that they’re surrounded by the farm’s fab 450 acres of land… It’s all quite simple here – pitches are all on grass without electric, and there are only very basic on-site toilet and shower facilities. With few distractions, that means guests can really relax – waking up to birdsong is the norm here, as is spotting the dairy herd as they pass by each morning and evening. The pitches back onto woodland, so there’s wildlife to look out for too, and you may catch a glimpse of the wild deer that live here. Of course, the farm’s location helps with making it an attractive place to stay – it’s about a 15-minute drive to Weymouth’s town centre and beach, and there are rural footpaths running from the farm to the likes of Abbotsbury, Fleet, Chesil Beach and the Hardy Monument (or to Weymouth, in fact).

Liked Great place to camp. Easy to find & nice flat pitch. Had WiFi which worked fairly well especially for free WiFi in a field. Toilet & shower block was so clean and had hot water always. Would definitely return Vicky & Tony were very friendly. The electric hookup is you top up your hookup. We did a long weekend and only put on £1 and it lasted us whilst Charing phones & tablets and using a prep machine.

Liked The site manager and owner were both very nice and approachable people the shower and toilets are fairly new(2 years I was told) and are spotlessly maintained we had a large electric pitch and the electricity costs are very reasonable. The waste and recycling area is well organised and it's clear where to place your recycling.Good location not far from the coast and just a short drive into Weymouth for the supermarkets

Liked Spacious pitches, clean toilets and showers which were lovely and warm. Vicky who works there was friendly and welcoming on arrival. A relatively small, tucked away site but we liked that. Very pleasant surroundings and peaceful by day and at night. Our second stay and will happily return.

Disliked No fault of the site at, all but stepped in dog muck once, really wish dog owners would be more responsible.

Absolutely fantastic campsite and one we would thoroughly recommend.

The site is lovely and flat, so we didn’t need to use chocks at all, and the pitches are a really decent size. We also liked that they weren’t too fussy about exactly how you pitched up, so we had plenty of flexibility with where we positioned the campervan.

There was free wi-fi which we did t know about ahead. And the electric was PAYG and cost us less than £2 for 5 nights constantly plugged in. And great price per night.

We were really close to the toilet block and washing-up facilities, which was perfect for us. The toilet and shower block is very modern and was kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay.

A special mention has to go to Tony, the warden, who couldn’t have been more helpful. He was friendly, knowledgeable and always happy to help with anything we needed.

Dogs need to be kept on a lead on the campsite itself, but just through the gate there are acres and acres of land where they can have a proper run, which was absolutely brilliant for us.

A really lovely, well-kept campsite with everything we needed. We would definitely recommend it and would happily stay again.

Liked What an absolute gem of a campsite! Honestly one of the loveliest places we have ever stayed. The location is brilliant and wonderfully peaceful. The facilities are top-notch — impeccably clean toilets, lovely hot showers, and great washing-up areas that made our whole week run so smoothly.
​A massive, heartfelt thank you to the wonderful hosts. You couldn’t meet nicer, warmer, or more accommodating people — they truly made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We thoroughly enjoyed every single second of our holiday and will definitely be back. A five-star stay all round!

It’s really worth bringing your walking shoes along for a stay here, as you can set off on foot for lots of local attractions, take in some of the Jurassic Coast’s top scenery on a hike along the South West Coast Path, or do a circuit of the nearby Isle of Portland. If you’d rather head straight to the beach, get down to Weymouth’s family-friendly stretch to see if you can build sandcastles that will rival the displays at Sandworld sand sculpture park.
