  • Relaxed, simple pitches on a 450-acre family beef and arable farm
  • A 15-minute drive to Weymouth and 20 minutes from the Isle of Portland
  • A mile from the Jurassic Coast, with footpaths to Abbotsbury and Fleet
With a location that’s just outside the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and only a mile from the Jurassic Coast, you can see why one might want to settle here for quite some time… and that’s just what the family that run Tatton Farm Campsite have done. It’s the fourth generation that now runs this working dairy farm, and the fifth is rapidly falling in love with farm life too. Plenty of guests have found themselves rather fond of the place too – in fact, there’s been a campsite successfully running here for more than 40 years. And what is it that’s kept the site so popular throughout that time? Well, perhaps the laidback atmosphere, the generous pitches and the fact that they’re surrounded by the farm’s fab 450 acres of land… It’s all quite simple here – pitches are all on grass without electric, and there are only very basic on-site toilet and shower facilities. With few distractions, that means guests can really relax – waking up to birdsong is the norm here, as is spotting the dairy herd as they pass by each morning and evening. The pitches back onto woodland, so there’s wildlife to look out for too, and you may catch a glimpse of the wild deer that live here. Of course, the farm’s location helps with making it an attractive place to stay – it’s about a 15-minute drive to Weymouth’s town centre and beach, and there are rural footpaths running from the farm to the likes of Abbotsbury, Fleet, Chesil Beach and the Hardy Monument (or to Weymouth, in fact).

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked The property is well maintained, very clean and tidy. Toilets are always clean and smells fresh. Children enjoyed their stay as they can run free in the open field. Staff are very accomodating and helpful.

Disliked I think it would be better if they add some more toilets for both men and women. Its also best to make the shower separated from the toilets.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked Vicky the owner & Tony are amazing hosts that cannot do enough for you and put the guests comfort first. We were greeted at the gate by Tony who explained everything and showed us our pitch, set up to the EHU was simple The shower block and cleaning / toilet block is excellent! The shower has temperature control and its own private area with ventilation and space around you to clean up and change etc. the toilets are cleaned regularly, safe to say there was nothing to complain about.

There is a pub local called the Elm Tree Inn which is a 30 min walk along the road and across the fields, Vicky explained this very well and Tony bless him was heading that way and was so kind to give us a lift there, the pub serves good food and several amazing local brewed beers.

The location is excellent, quiet and very pleasant. If you like to be outside and enjoy nature, peace & quiet, this is the place!

WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR!!

Disliked absolutely nothing!!

Liked The toilets and shower are impeccably maintained, making for a comfortable stay.
The campsite is free of litter, with neatly trimmed grass and organised sites, which enhances the overall atmosphere and big pitches too. Vicky, the camp host, is incredibly friendly.

Liked Absolutely fantastic site, we will be returning time and time again.

Vicky, Tony and Richard are 10 out of 10 when it comes to friendliness, customer service and local knowledge. There was always one of them on site to help with any query we had, whether that was local site seeing knowledge, places to eat or general enquiries.

There are so many lovely nature walks surrounding the campsite, you'll never get bored, and the views are just exquisite 👌

The site itself is easy to find, close to local amenities, incredibly clean, tidy and peaceful all throughout the day and night.

Hooking up to the electric was so easy, simply scan the QR code and PAYG, I topped up £5 which lasted our entire stay comfortably (4days) and we were using a decent amount of power for charging items, running a fridge all day etc.

The washing facilities are immaculate, they get cleaned numerous times a day, there is always toilet roll and the water is hot all day long.

We are hoping the guys have some space before the end of summer as we want to return again, but if not. we will definitely be returning next year for longer.

wifi was avaliable, a bit sketchy in the evenings but it made the kids all play together outside all day long, so not a bad thing in my personal option.

Vicky, Tony and Richard, thank you so much for being incredible hosts.

Liked we stayed in the open field and it was lovely and quiet. Vicky and Tony were lovely and friendly and welcoming and nothing would have been any trouble for them if there was an issue which there wasn't .
The toilets and the showers are THE CLEANEST I have ever seen at a campsite the showers were hot at all times of the day.
There is a fridge and freezer too.
Vicky was full of recommendations on local places to go and I can highly recommend Billy Winters beach café.
A lovely quiet back to basics site well maintained and the most friendliest staff.

Disliked Absolutely nothing .

Liked Firstly, the site was immaculate! The toilets and shower block were one of the cleanest we've seen. The way the pitches were set up was great as there was a big open space in the middle for our children to play. Vicky was so lovely and friendly - such a warm welcome, which made us feel really happy when we arrived. Also, the ice cream van, which came on to the site in the evening, was great too! The location is fab as it's only about 15 minutes from the centre of Weymouth.
Pay for what you use with electrictricity was something we liked too as we stayed 3 nights and only had to pay £1.30 at the end of our stay.
We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area!

Local attractions

It’s really worth bringing your walking shoes along for a stay here, as you can set off on foot for lots of local attractions, take in some of the Jurassic Coast’s top scenery on a hike along the South West Coast Path, or do a circuit of the nearby Isle of Portland. If you’d rather head straight to the beach, get down to Weymouth’s family-friendly stretch to see if you can build sandcastles that will rival the displays at Sandworld sand sculpture park. Also in town are the Sea Life Centre, Pirate Adventure Mini Golf and a harbour for fishing or wildlife-spotting boat trips. For leisurely days out nearby, try a visit to Bennetts Water Gardens (10 minutes’ drive), Abbotsbury Swannery (15 minutes), RSPB Lodmoor (15 minutes) or Hardys Cottage (25 minutes) or set off to explore the ghost village of Tyneham (45 minutes). If you’re after something livelier for the kids, the likes of Monkey World (half an hour) and Dorset Adventure Park (40 minutes) are likely to hit the spot.
