What a spectacularly well set site this is… do try your best to settle in for quite some time… Portesham Dairy Farm Camp Site is in peaceful Dorset countryside on the Jurassic Coast (week one of your hol) and easily accessible to Weymouth, Dorchester and the Dorset beaches: that should cover weeks two and three… Your eats and drinks are excellently sorted from here too, as a farm shop with café is a minute's amble from the site, and the owners' local, the King's Arms, is within a couple of minutes' stroll. The site is on the edge of the village of Portesham, in the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and 15 minutes' drive from Weymouth. It's family run with a dedicated team that takes pride in its modern clean amenities: the purpose-built facilities block comes with toilets, showers, basins, hairdryers and hand dryers, baby changing area and an enclosed washing-up space with hot and cold water. There's also a laundry room (with drinks machine and tourist info), as well as three chemical disposal points across the site. A small play area is to hand for kids. The site welcomes quiet and friendly dogs; a footpath leads from the farm across fields and countryside.

Liked Absolutely loved our visit and will definitely be recommending it to family and friends and returning ourselves.

Friendly, helpful staff beautiful surroundings and super clean facilities.

Fantastic communication with plenty of information sent over in good time before the visit.

The site is easy to find and plenty of top up/essential items on tap at the vending machines. Definitely recommend the freshly squeezed orange juice.

Liked We loved everything about this site. The showers were the best and also the cleanest we have ever had anywhere in our years of camping.

Lovely to see that despite having vending machines the family/owners are very much on hand, offer a great service and seem invested in ensuring guests have a lovely time. Nothing was too much trouble.

The dog exercise field was a fabulous space, the site although full due to bank holiday weekend and half term was very quiet and spotlessly clean.

We will most definitely be back time and time again.

We could not fault a single thing.
Great facilities, super clean, the showers, basins, toilets were all immaculate.
Excellent range of vending machines on site - selling milkshakes, coffee, ice creams, camping essentials and pizzas 24/7!!!
Family friendly, super dog friendly with two lovely walks on site.
Pub, farm shop and cafe all within 5 mins walking distance.
If you book to stay here, you won’t be disappointed 🤩

Liked This site was fantastic. The pitches were well maintained, the toilet, shower and laundry facilities were amazingly clean, and the vending machines were amazing!!!
The free Wifi was also brilliant.
This is best site we've stayed at and will now be the site we measure all others against!

Local attractions

However long you stay here (at least a couple of weeks, preferably), there's enough to see and do around Dorset to entertain all ages and tastes. Ditch the car if you prefer: the local bus stop is 150 yards from the farm entrance, to pick up the Jurassic Coast route bus (X53) running from Exeter to Poole. The Portesham Dairy Farm team recommends a climb up to the Hardy Monument on Black Down (five minutes' drive) as a nifty way to see Dorset and its splendid coastline (the monument isn't to the writer Thomas Hardy as you might expect in these parts, but to Vice Admiral Thomas Hardy, a commander at the Battle of Trafalgar; do be sure to tell that to the kids). You should be able to see the Devon coast, the Mendip Hills and the Isle of Wight from here on a clear day; just clamber the 120 steps up to the viewpoint. Also much recommended is Abbotsbury, home of the famed swannery as well as subtropical gardens and a kids' farm (also five minutes' drive), and the golden sands, sand sculptures and fair rides of Weymouth, 15 minutes from the farm. Portland (25 minutes) is also a must: visit the lighthouse, forage for fossils and come down the hill from the top of town for stunning views of the coast and Chesil Beach.
