What a spectacularly well set site this is… do try your best to settle in for quite some time… Portesham Dairy Farm Camp Site is in peaceful Dorset countryside on the Jurassic Coast (week one of your hol) and easily accessible to Weymouth, Dorchester and the Dorset beaches: that should cover weeks two and three… Your eats and drinks are excellently sorted from here too, as a farm shop with café is a minute's amble from the site, and the owners' local, the King's Arms, is within a couple of minutes' stroll. The site is on the edge of the village of Portesham, in the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and 15 minutes' drive from Weymouth. It's family run with a dedicated team that takes pride in its modern clean amenities: the purpose-built facilities block comes with toilets, showers, basins, hairdryers and hand dryers, baby changing area and an enclosed washing-up space with hot and cold water. There's also a laundry room (with drinks machine and tourist info), as well as three chemical disposal points across the site. A small play area is to hand for kids. The site welcomes quiet and friendly dogs; a footpath leads from the farm across fields and countryside.

Likte We enjoyed our long weekend here. It’s a nice clean site. Great showers and toilets. Staff were very friendly and polite. Nice and close to a lovely farm shop/cafe and the kings arms pub. The vending machine facility is very useful and convenient.
Check in and access to our super pitch was very easy. The pitch was well equipped and spacious. We stayed in October, which meant that the site was less than half full.
We would definitely stay here again. Great wifi included in the cost of the booking.

Likte ikke The on site reception had very small selection of toiletries. Based on the rural location, perhaps it would be possible to increase by including some extra essentials like loo rolls for chemical toilets etc

Likte Always a really friendly welcome. Clean and well kept in all areas and nice generous sized pitches. Great showers!

Not just close to coastal walks, but also to a maze of pretty inland footpaths with incredible views. Good local pub and farm shop & cafe and lots of food and drink options from the vending machines on site.

Likte Nice well looked after site fairly quite as it is out of holiday season The self service vending machines at the entrance we found very good even ''Hot Pizza ''
if you needed it, we tried the pre packed butchers burgers and they were very good. See photos for the varied choice.
Local ''Ducks Cafe'' for drinks, cakes or full breakfast. We had both coffee and cake one day and full breakfasts the next day. There is also a good pub just up the road as well for evening meal.
Good clean shower block and toilet block kept spotless

Likte Have visited this site several times now. It has everything we need. Good access, great facilities, spotless modern toilets and showers with plenty of hot water, good location and the site feels safe with entrance barriers and number plate recognition. There are a few different options for pitch choices but we always opt for the serviced pitches. The site is peaceful and relaxing and it’s easy to drive in to Weymouth and Chesil beach. There is a pub 5 mins walk away and a farm shop cafe over the road. On site vending machines for juice, milk, ice cream, pizza and general vend. Pitch number and location is e mailed to you the night before, so you can just drive straight to your pitch on arrival but there are friendly helpful staff on hand too. A very professional set up. Whats not to like?

However long you stay here (at least a couple of weeks, preferably), there's enough to see and do around Dorset to entertain all ages and tastes. Ditch the car if you prefer: the local bus stop is 150 yards from the farm entrance, to pick up the Jurassic Coast route bus (X53) running from Exeter to Poole. The Portesham Dairy Farm team recommends a climb up to the Hardy Monument on Black Down (five minutes' drive) as a nifty way to see Dorset and its splendid coastline (the monument isn't to the writer Thomas Hardy as you might expect in these parts, but to Vice Admiral Thomas Hardy, a commander at the Battle of Trafalgar; do be sure to tell that to the kids). You should be able to see the Devon coast, the Mendip Hills and the Isle of Wight from here on a clear day; just clamber the 120 steps up to the viewpoint. Also much recommended is Abbotsbury, home of the famed swannery as well as subtropical gardens and a kids' farm (also five minutes' drive), and the golden sands, sand sculptures and fair rides of Weymouth, 15 minutes from the farm. Portland (25 minutes) is also a must: visit the lighthouse, forage for fossils and come down the hill from the top of town for stunning views of the coast and Chesil Beach.
