  • Family-run farm site with fab Corfe Castle and Purbeck Hills views
  • Spacious pitches a 10-minute drive from Swanage and Wareham
  • A five-minute walk to Harman’s Cross steam railway train station
Dawdle down Dorset way for a dreamy break at the fab family-run Purbeck Valley Farm. This park is a champion choice for its location – it’s in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty a 10-minute drive away from both the inland town of Wareham and Swanage at the coast. Plus it also has gorgeous views… Corfe Castle and the pretty Purbeck Hills are visible from the pitches and you can wander directly towards these destinations via local footpaths and bridleways. Harman’s Cross train station is a five-minute stroll for steam rail trips to Swanage and Corfe Castle (pre-booking essential). Is it lunchtime yet? To get eats on the go, stick around Corfe Castle and order food in a local pub or stock up on ingredients at the shop and garage a couple of minutes’ drive from the site before cooking over coals by your pitch (barbecues are allowed). Another wise option when it comes to nourishment is to pack food in a picnic hamper and take it towards one of several sandy beaches within a 30-minute drive, such as Studland (15 minutes), Swanage (10 minutes), Lulworth Cove (half an hour) or Durdle Door (half an hour). Back on base as evening draws in, lounge on your spacious pitch or use the time to organise yourself using the park's essential facilities, including toilets, showers, a washing-up area and recycling bins.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked The booking process was so quick and easy. We booked the day before as we saw the weather was lovely. The campsite was beautiful, quiet but with character. Amazing views. We were allowed a raised fire pit which was lovely. Facilities are basic but clean and well stocked.

Disliked Nothing.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Basic camping with quality built shower and toilet facilities, nice touch adding the communal freezer, and plenty of rubbish and recycling points. Lovely friendly owner, lots of space and lovely views.
Only complaint was that the door bolts didn’t line up with the bolt catches on the toilet doors and the gaps in the decked wooden shower floors were fairly large - we could see situations where people might drop things down the gaps accidentally. Would definitely camp there again due to the location, price and it’s probable availability even during the busiest times - due to the vast amount of land.

Appreciated the environment.…

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Great location - can walk in to Corfe, and can walk to the coast. Lots of pitch space, and a quiet site - just the chuffing of the steam trains, which was lovely!
Clean and hot showers. Really friendly campsite owners.

Disliked Quite an exposed, so windy, site but pitching next to the hedge minimises this (and brings you closer to the birdsong!)

Nice spacious site in a lovely location.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Space - site is never packed full so always plenty of space around each pitch.
Location - close to Swanage, Corfe Castle and Wareham. Short drive to each, and a good bus service very close by.

Disliked Showers in tent field could be improved (and one was out of order when I was there.)

Stuning viewing. Shower with hot water and toilets in a good condition.…

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked I loved the location, the flexibility of the host. The chilled nature of the site generally. The weather was excellent which always helps.

The showers were great, can't be described as luxurious, but I loved them, maybe a couple more hooks for towels etc. I actually loved the system of how the water system worked. Yes I'm sad...

Massive fields so you're not on top of each other.

The most amazing value for money, in my opinion.

Disliked Only cold water for washing up.....that's all I can think...

Local attractions

If you’re in Dorset for a beach break but fancy seeking out quieter shores than the particularly popular Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove (half an hour’s drive), check out Winspit Quarry, Seacombe Cliff and Chapmans Pool (15 minutes). All are easily reached via Worth Matravers (10 minutes), a village with an award-winning pub. Poole (half an hour) tends to be a little busier but is worth bustling towards for a look at the big natural harbour and Georgian-era old town, while Swanage (10 minutes) is a must for its views of the spectacular chalk-white cliffs. For countryside tours once you’re done with the coast, check out the atmospheric ruins of Corfe Castle close to the site (35 minutes’ walk), then drive to the RSPB Arne nature reserve for a bit of birdwatching. Organised days out at family-friendly attractions more your bag? Peer at the primates in Monkey World (20 minutes), amble among the armoured machines at the Tank Museum in Bovington (25 minutes) and chug through the countryside old-school style on the Swanage steam railway.
