  • Peaceful, dog-friendly rural farm site in the Dorset countryside
  • A five-minute drive to Swanage and half an hour to the Jurassic Coast
  • Back to basics site with drinking water, toilets, and showers
From castle gambols to digging for treasure in the sand, the Jurassic Coast and the serene Dorset countryside are your stomping grounds when you stay at Quarr Camping. Between the novel-esque Corfe Castle and the traditional seaside town of Swanage, this family-friendly site is well situated for an action-packed holiday of countryside capers or simply a spot of well-deserved seaside relaxation. Toot toot… what’s that sound? The traditional steam railway is nearby, and the heritage railway of Harman’s Cross railway station quite literally around the corner (10 minutes’ walk). Explore the area on foot, wheels or rail, and tick off coastal must-sees such as Durdle Door, Dancing Ledge, and Winspit Quarry, all within a 30-minute drive. Once you’re done, lean back and listen to a countryside soundtrack – crickets, cows, and all sorts of countryside animals – on this peaceful rural farm site, welcoming families, dogs and all countryside enthusiasts. You'll have to prepare to get back to basics at this site, but it's got running drinking water, toilets, showers and a chemical disposal point. Plus, you can complete the true outdoor experience with a campfire or barbecue, picking up supplies from the local shop within a 10-minute stroll. If a pint or pub grub is on your mind, there are also several pubs within five minutes’ drive. You’ll certainly need the fuel after an action-packed day of watersports, coastal hiking or biking, or sightseeing your way around.

What customers say

This is a spacious, friendly, and peaceful campsite with a laid-back atmosphere, ideal for families. Guests praise the clean facilities, the charming steam train passing by, and the hay bale play area. The location is excellent for exploring local attractions. While some noted the hilly terrain and dated shower facilities with a 20p meter, many found it great value for money and plan to return.

Liked It was a good camp, loads of space, little play bit for kids, clean toilets and showers.
A lady comes round in the morning and rings a bell, shes got pastries(cash only) the showers were good make sure you have 20p as thats what they take.
Will definitely be back, kids had a great time and loved waving at the trains going past

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The big spacious field to pitch wherever we liked, natural play area, peaceful location.

Disliked Nobody around at check in without clear instructions. Screaming older children after 10pm often right outside our tent and nothing we could do about it and dogs often off leads without anyone around to ensure others follow rules

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great location for spending the day at Swanage or Studland. Easy check in, spacious site & clean / well stocked toilets.

Disliked The showers run on a meter 20p for 2 or 3 minutes, input in 60p and the shower (no.1) didn’t work. I was in there undressed & ready to go & had used all my 20 pence pieces so had to wait until we had been to the arcades in the evening to change up sone more money.
Campsite is hilly so whilst its a large site if you arrive when its busy you will struggle to find a flat pitch.
The site nextdoor was quite noisy late into the night (i imagine only an issue if you set up near the adjoining hedge as we did)
Despite these issues I would go back!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked I liked that the pitch had no limit you could choose your spot. The sight was quite not too busy. Kids loved seeing the train go past.

Disliked Having to pay to use the showers or that you couldn't change the temperature of the shower.

Local attractions

You’ll feel like you’ve stumbled into a scene from a storybook at Harman’s Cross station (10 minutes’ walk). Pick a picnic bench, gaze at the old-school platforms and Portland stone period buildings and watch as the trains roll by. More history hangs heavy in the air at Corfe Castle (five minutes’ drive). The Jurassic Coast is where you’ll find most of the action… head down early to beat the crowds to Durdle Door (30 minutes) and its neighbour Lulworth Cove. It's hard to beat a shoreline that has silky sand, iconic landmarks and paddle-worthy waters all in one. Tick your way along the coast, beginning with a dip in the shallow pool at Dancing Ledge (5 minutes), and then on to Winspit Quarry (15 minutes) and the clifftop Durlston Country Park and National Nature Reserve (15 minutes)… or pick between watersports or a sandcastle face-off on the beaches of Sandbanks (40 minutes) and Studland (10 minutes).
