This ticks all the boxes for my stay!
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Free to camp anywhere pay to use the shower but this was a good thing as it put people off holding the showers and there were never any queues as a consequence
Disliked Freeze pack service freezer missing
Recommend to friends Visit again
From the manager: thankyou for your good review the showers are on a meter for that reason and it also saves water from being wasted. we are looking to add freezer pack service soon.
Once bank holiday weekend was over, it was quiet and beautiful on site
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Beautiful scenery
Gorgeous sunrise and dusk skies
Great fire pits
Fun having the steam train go past
Fab little "shop" to top up with ice creams, cold drinks and treats
Food van on-site
Friendly staff
Close to lots of sightseeing and days out
Disliked The crows and cockerel. They start very, very early - but this isn't really within the campsite's control. Cockerel is property next door.
At busy times, there was a queue for the toilets as there are only 4 toilets for ladies and only 3 showers

From the manager: Thankyou for your review glad you enjoyed most aspects of your stay. Sadly as you've mentioned we cannot control the birds noise level or our neighbours cockerel. In our main toilet and shower block this is correct however we did have the other green block open with 3 more toilets and showers during the busy period which can be used by anyone.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked The open space,
Ladies toilets were clean.
Showers were basic but warm and plenty of hooks.
Disliked Check in hut closed when the sign said it would open at 2pm
Queues for gents toilets and showers
Unclear signage to find footpaths to the train station.

Nice
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked It was a nice location ease of access to swanage, toilets and showers were nice and clean, food van on site which was handy for a yummy bacon bap in the morning. We managed to get a pitch in some shade under beautiful old oak trees. We brought our own fire pit but saw you could rent one from them easily. It was fun seeing the steam train go by multiple times a day.
Disliked Very sloping fields so not very many flat pitches and not much shade which did mean people grouped more closely together so not much privacy despite the large field size.
Seemed to be many campers per number of toilets/showers. That said we timed our visits to quiet times. Showers are 20p per 2 mins which although a bit inconvenient I guess speeds people up!
The price per night seemed a bit on the high side for what you get, in comparison to others in the area.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked It’s friendly and helpful, plus it’s well located and easily affordable. Great if you’re on a tight budget.
Disliked You need 20p pieces for the shower. We were lucky as a shop changed £2 into 20p for us. We got 3-4 ticks from the grass so be observant with children.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, we are always happy to change 20ps as we understand people don't always remember to bring them as we do state in the info you'll need them but it's a way to stop wastage and to prevent long queues for the showers.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Big fields, nice views and the steam train ran through which was fun to see. Clean showers and toilets, initially thought there wouldn't be enough for the amount of campers, but if you timed it right, you didnt have to wait long. Showers are 20p for 2 minutes and the water starts as soon as you put the money in the outside slot, so best to take 40p plus!
Lovely area with hay bales for children to play in.
Disliked We set up camp in the top field and it was perfect. Unfortunately on our return there was a burger van parked behind us with a generator on. The (lovely) man was there from 5pm - 9pm but was often there until at least 9.30pm and then he came back at 7am for the morning (until around 10am I think?). I emailed the campsite owner who quickly arranged for him to start later on in the morning 8.30am, which we were thankful for. Unfortunately this spoilt our trip as we go camping to get some peace and quiet and having the generator on for the majority of the time we were at the tent, ruined this trip.
No hot water for washing up - as mentioned when booking. But still a faff.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We understand the frustration regarding the generator of the food van, sadly this is his only means of power due to us not having electric onsite. As you stated we did try to help the situation by delaying breakfast start time however he is too larger vehicle to move elsewhere onsite without getting stuck. We're sorry this has deterred you from coming again after all the other good points you made.
Excellent
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Choice of where to pitch, scenery, loved the old steam train coming through throughout the day was lovely. Ability to hire fire pit and logs was a great addition. Toilet and shower facilities spotless
