  • Peaceful adults-only and dog-friendly site on the Isle of Purbeck
  • Five minutes' drive to Swanage, Corfe Castle and coastal paths
  • Bus stop outside the site; firepits allowed; luxury heated showers
On the hunt for a pretty and peaceful base for an Isle of Purbeck break? Bullshorn Camping could well be the place – this small and friendly site has an adults-only setup that’s just the ticket for couples and solo travellers looking to unwind in this gorgeous part of the world. Walkers and cyclists are particularly well served at this Dorset spot, with lots of quiet trails running through the surrounding area and the chance for a seaside stroll on the South West Coast Path close by too. Beaches, historic sights and the many attractions of the Jurassic Coast are all within striking distance too, and getting around should be nice and easy thanks to the bus stop just by the site. Swanage (five minutes’ drive) is your nearest town, with a beach and heritage railway as well as lots of lovely places to eat and shop. Barbecues and campfires are permitted back on site, so you may like to pick up suitable supplies while you’re there – although there is a pub half a mile away if that’s more your scene. The emphasis here is on creating a calm atmosphere for a chilled-out break, so facilities have been kept to just the essentials in the form of smart modern toilets and showers; no noisy bar or anything here.

What customers say

This adult-only campsite is praised for its peaceful atmosphere and excellent, modern shower and toilet facilities with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Its location is highlighted as a major advantage, offering easy access to Swanage, Studland Beaches, Corfe Castle, and Durlston Country Park. While most guests found the site impeccably clean and well-maintained, a few mentioned that during busy weekends, additional toilet facilities, particularly for gentlemen, would be beneficial. Some road noise was noted at the top of the field, though generally considered bearable. The site is recommended for its quiet, traditional camping appeal and natural surroundings.

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Peaceful, great shower and toilet block, no noisy campers, great location with Swanage only 1.5 miles away. Close to Studland Beaches, Corfe Castle and the stunning Durlston Country Park and coastal walks. This place is a little gem for adults. We were blessed with some cheeky Guinea Fowl with their young, feeding on the grass in front of our tent. Two boisterous farm cats that pulled over the empty bottle crate and scampered off. That made us chuckle. Highly recommend this place for a quick get away in beautiful Purbeck countryside.

Disliked Wouldn’t say disliked, but could do with extra waste bins when the site is busy.

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Lovely site, little bit uneven but plenty of space to park up, didn't need levellers so it was fine. Shower is amazing, best I've ever experienced on a camp site - no silly push button 20 second thing either which made me more mindful of water usage 👌🏼. Bins, recycling, water and washing up area all very clean and tidy. Definitely would stay again 100%.

Disliked Road noise at top of field but bearable, it's the main road into Swanage so bound to be noisy. Ok in a campervan though.

People who disregard the dogs on leads rule, your dog might be ok, but my dog - (always on a lead or long line) can be reactive around my van so didn't appreciate random dogs sniffing around off lead, not fair on my dog.

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked This is a truly wonderful campsite situated just off the main road, making it very convenient — you can reach Swanage Beach in about five minutes by car. Even though it’s close to the main road, the site still feels peaceful and tucked away because it’s surrounded by thick bushes and greenery, giving it a private and calm atmosphere. The facilities are brand new and clearly maintained with pride. Everything feels fresh, modern, and thoughtfully designed. The family who runs the campsite puts real care into every detail. They are welcoming, friendly, and very dedicated. Cleaning is done twice a day, and sometimes even more often, so the whole place always feels spotless. What really makes this campsite special is the atmosphere created by the owners. They are warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making guests feel comfortable. Their kindness and hard work make the stay feel personal and memorable. Overall, it’s a fantastic place — peaceful, well-kept, and run by people

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Small quiet site with no frills. Clean toilets/showers and the showers had good pressure and plenty of hot water.

Great bus service close to the site entrance.

Disliked At the weekend the campsite was busier. At this time it could do with more toilets (Especially the gents which only has one cubicle).

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked A wonderful, friendly family run campsite with lovely facilities focusing on the appeal of "back-to-basics" simplicity, the comfort of clean toilets and hot, powerful showers, and the beauty of an unplugged outdoor experience.
Plenty of flat pitches available and a lovely little spot to catch the sun all day. Enjoyed a camp fire while watching the stars at night, which was beautiful as there is no light pollution.

Disliked Nothing at all
