Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: This was by far my favourite camping site in England as a solo traveller with a tent and a motorbike. The hedge on two sides offered good wind protection and the view of the neighbouring farms on the open side was a lovely extra. This camping site had the best sanitary facilities so far, with plenty of space and more than just utilitarian optics. The showers were private and spacious. I didn't feel invaded in my privacy like at some other camping sites, which also cost much more than Chalk Meadow.

Most important of all, I had great communication with the owner Jim, who made sure to confirm the booking per text, and was outstandingly helpful and friendly. I would love to stay here again some time in the future.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Absolutely loved this site- beautiful open spaces in a quiet, sheltered position yet nicely placed to get to lots of hiking spaces around Dorset.
Amenities whilst simple were perfect, adding to the charm of the site. But the greatest asset is Jim - always on hand for a chat and to help with any issues.
Definitely be heading back again

Non-electric grass campervan pitch

Liked: Easy to find, great quiet location with an easy waly to the local shop, agricultural surroundings with a working feel.
Jim (Site Owner) is really the best and is very attentive to the site and facilities.
Toilets and showers were well used but very useable and always well stocked.
Owls can be heard at night and the surrounding hedgerow seems to be bristling with wildlife.

Disliked: Having to go home after a wonderful stay.

Where first for the kids? SEA LIFE Centre Weymouth (15 minutes' drive), Fantasy Island (15 minutes) or the Teddy Bear Museum in Dorchester (10 minutes)? If that’s not enough to keep them happy, you can try Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre (20 minutes). Plenty of adventures await along the Jurassic Coast too. Go walking at Chesil Beach (25 minutes), or search for fossils on the pebbly beach at Charmouth (50 minutes). You can stroll along the cliff path from pretty Lulworth Cove to see Durdle Door (both 20 minutes) or gaze out over the English Channel from Portland Bill Lighthouse (40 minutes). The kids have had their fun, so now you get a go. Weymouth (20 minutes) has a pretty harbour lined with boats as well as lots of seafront bars and restaurants, while Poole (40 minutes) is a great spot for pub crawling with a whole slew of restaurants. If late nights are not your thing, have a nose around the hilltop ruins of Corfe Castle (30 minutes).
