General

  • Back-to-basics site in rural west Dorset
  • Close to Bridport and Lyme Regis
  • Plenty of space for ball games and play

Pilsdon View Camping is a four-acre, level grassy site with the river Char, a small stream, running alongside the lowest field. Footpaths and cycle tracks lead directly from the site so you can explore the scenic Dorset countryside.

Pilsdon is an ecological site with a wildflower meadow, and herbs and vegetables growing on site. It welcomes self-sufficient campers; family groups are welcome, and dogs can come too, as long as their owners keep them on leads and considerately clean up after them.

Low-density camping means plenty of space for ball games and the tyre swing is a great draw for kids large and small.

New gas-powered showers were added for the 2017 season. The site also has toilets, and a fresh water supply.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Had a brilliant time. My highlight was waking for a call of nature in the middle of the night and watching the Milky Way spread across the clear night sky. Terry and April made us feel so welcome.
We loved the space on the site and the grandchildren really enjoyed the simple pleasures of playing on the tyre swing with their new friends.
Hot showers were clean and most appreciated.
Hoping to pitch up again next year. May even convince some of our relations to join us in the glamping yurt or bell tents.
Family high point was toasting marshmallows and placing them between two chocolate digestives.

    Disliked:

Parking fine at Lyme Regis for being 20 minutes late back to the car. I hate having to guesstimate how long you are going to spend in a place!

From the manager...

Thank you for coming to stay. Since you visited at the very end of the season you had the site almost to yourselves. we hope you will come back and visit us bringing friends and family too.

Lovely warm welcome from April and Terry. Warm running water at all times in showers and hand basins. Clean and well maintained facilities. Great views and chilled camping. Swing which created a hub for children to make friends. We loved it all.

    Disliked:

We weren't bothered by lack of washing up facilities. We heated water and washed crocks etc at our pitch. However I didn't like others washing their dishes in the toilet hand basins, especially at busy times of the day. Nothing else to dislike.

From the manager...

Many thanks for your visit and for writing a great review. We plan to provide a washing up point next year which will hopefully resolve the problem of people washing up in the hand basins
