General

  • Back-to-basics site in rural west Dorset
  • Close to Bridport and Lyme Regis
  • Plenty of space for ball games and play

Pilsdon View Camping is a four-acre, level grassy site with the river Char, a small stream, running alongside the lowest field. Footpaths and cycle tracks lead directly from the site so you can explore the scenic Dorset countryside.

Pilsdon is an ecological site with a wildflower meadow, and herbs and vegetables growing on site. It welcomes self-sufficient campers; family groups are welcome, and dogs can come too, as long as their owners keep them on leads and considerately clean up after them.

Low-density camping means plenty of space for ball games and the tyre swing is a great draw for kids large and small.

New gas-powered showers were added for the 2017 season. The site also has toilets, and a fresh water supply.

Lovely couple running the site. Lovely friendly site. Lovely location.

Bit awkward to find. Said 6.6 miles from Lyme Regis on pitchup, but nearer 10 down narrow lanes.

Such a perfect family campsite. Everything you could need. So relaxing and a great safe environment for the kids to explore and make friends. Facilities clean and tidy at all times.
Extremely handy for shops, pubs, restaurants etc in Bridport and surrounding area. The Lotus Belle had everything in it we needed and was very spacious - plenty of room for 2 adults a child and two dogs. We will be coming to stay again. April and Terry are so friendly, helpful and welcoming. The fab view of the Perseid meteor shower was an added bonus.

We had a lovely stay at Pilsdon View. One of the nicest sites we've stayed on! Terry & April were very welcoming with lots of local knowledge. The site was nice and flat & the showers were the best we've experienced camping!! It felt very safe with other families and groups dotted around the field. The children (11,8 & 3) liked the swing, slide and toys placed around the site. We'll definitely be back!

    Disliked:

The only disadvantage is the lack of dishwashing facilities but this is a real small thing in our opinion and we had to scrabble around to think of anything negative to say about this site!!

We have just spent 11 nights at Pilsdon View campsite and have enjoyed a fantastic holiday on which our children could play and meet new friends and from where we could easily explore the Jurassic Coast and Dorset in general. We spent most of our time on site with the games that we had brought but also headed to Seaton, Lyme, Charmouth, Bridport and Dorchester.

We loved the campsite from the moment we were given a wonderful welcome and were allowed to pitch wherever we wanted. Marshmallows were received and cooked and our daughter had a new friend in the first half an hour. Over the next 11 days or so, we really began to feel like we were at home and experienced all kinds of weather and huge numbers of fellow campers. Our children loved the tyre swing, slide, meeting so many new friends and the space for playing with kites and bubble machines.

The campsite is a peaceful, friendly, wonderful place where you can relax and unwind. The customer service is outstanding and, as many people have said, the toilets & showers are kept extremely clean. After periods of heavy rain, the ground recovers very quickly and the owners work very hard to keep muddy patches caused by vehicles under control. They also give so much support to the campers who need it and are there to answer any questions.

Being low-density camping, there is very little disturbance from anyone. The ethos for the site is so clear from the outset that it us all quiet by about 9.30pm and all you can hear is the murmurings of other groups around their fires even at weekends when it is noticeably busier.

We loved it at Pilsdon View and will definitely return when we next head to Dorset. The owners know the kind of site that they want and it's fantastic! Thank you for our thank you card & all the best for the future.
