  • Glamping units on a farm with pretty lake and countryside views
  • A 10-minute drive to Seatown beach and 15 minutes to Charmouth beach
  • Kitchen inside, outdoor deck with shower; paragliding trips organised
If you like a lake and are fond of a farm set your sights on a stay at this park in Dorset. A peaceful glamping retreat, it sits in a pretty orchard with swish views across a rural landscape about a 10-minute drive from the Jurassic Coast beach at Seaport... And if you want to see said views from above? Owner Eddie has a paragliding company, so soaring through the sky in tandem with a certified instructor’s possible for thrillseekers. For slightly more sedate activities, clay pigeon and target shooting are also nearby and a company organising fishing trips on the deep sea is within 20 minutes’ drive. Rather keep feet firmly on the ground? Set off on strolls around the farm instead or wander woodland trails via the circular path through wildlife-rich Langdon Hill, part of the famed Golden Cap walking area with (even more) views out to sea. Back at the park, the sorts of facilities you need to be self-sufficient while having a top time in the countryside are all provided; guests at North End Farm get given amenities like a cooking stove and a woodburner while also having a deck with a private open-air shower just outside the accommodation. An eco-friendly compost loo is nearby too. The unit also has seating, a dining table and a kingsize bed with storage underneath and a barbecue is on hand for cooking. You can get your grub from a farm shop around a five-minute drive or at a supermarket 15 minutes away in Bridport. Bedding, towels and kitchen essentials are also provided during a stay at this site.

North End cabin

Liked: Fantastic location with lots of amazing walking and very quiet except for the owls at night...wonderful. The Cabin is cosy and rustic with a toasty woodburner, perfect to warm the red wine! By departure I felt chilled and relaxed.

Local attractions

Visiting Lyme Regis 20 minutes’ drive from this site is your best bet for finding out just what puts the ‘Jurassic’ into Jurassic Coast. A stint in this seaside town leads to trips out at fossil-themed museums and galleries; to see impressions of once-living things in real life, you could also mosey over to the rocky landscape of Monmouth beach (25 minutes). Hunting for fossils can be had on Charmouth’s shores, a 15-minute drive away, too. Fast forward several years with visits to more modern attractions in the area including a whole host of theatres putting on regular shows. The famed Bridport Electric Palace theatre is a 15 minutes’ drive. while The Lyric Theatre and Marine Theatre both take 20 minutes to reach. Got a tiny traveller with you? Take them to the Jurassic Fun Centre in Bridport (20-minute drive) to swoosh down slides into one of several pools.
