  • Part of a 2000-acre National Trust estate on the Jurassic Coast
  • 150 metres from a shingle beach for sea angling and fossil hunting
  • Fishing lake on site

If James Cagney had been in Dorset when he shouted ‘top of the world’ to his ma, we like to fondly imagine he would have been around Golden Top Holiday Park, the highest point in the south of England and part of a 2000-acre National Trust estate.

The park is the most toptastic place to take all this in, as it’s surrounded by unspoiled Dorset countryside and part of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. And, as should be expected in Dorset, it’s right next to the water – set in the seaside village of Seatown and 150 metres from a shingle beach known for its sea angling and fossil hunting.

The well-looked after amenities include two big modern shower/toilet blocks, a launderette and a well-stocked shop with three separate areas: gifts and local goods; groceries; and a tourist information/coffee area. Wifi is available across the whole park priced from an hour to a season – just buy a ticket from reception to hook up.

Guests can also pay to use the leisure facilities at the other West Dorset Leisure Holiday Park in the area, Highlands End Holiday Park, which has tennis, a sauna/steam room, a gym and a heated indoor pool. If you just can’t bring yourself to walk that 150 metres for beach fishing, you can cast off easily instead at Golden Cap’s own fishing lake.
