  • Small-scale, sustainable farm site in a relaxed rural location
  • A mile from the A361 and a 10-minute drive from Tiverton
  • Views over open countryside; five minutes' drive from a gastropub
Looking for a site that'll allow you to tick off a few items on your bucket list? If skydiving, cycle trips around Exmoor National Park and learning to surf on the north Devon coast are in your top 10, then you'll want to take a closer look at Sydeham Farm Glamping, a sustainable farm site where all of these activities are reachable in under 45 minutes' drive. This well-located spot is just a mile off the A361, putting lots of attractive West Country scenery within reach. Not that you'll grow tired of the on-site outlook – classic country sights like Aberdeen Angus cattle, sheep, woodlands and open farmland are all visible from the main pitching field, which overlooks a peaceful valley. The local area is always full of wildlife, with common spots including red deer, foxes, badgers and majestic birds of prey. Sydeham Farm Glamping's eco-friendly ethos means that you'll come across recycling facilities, sustainably-sourced firewood and solar panels here. All guests have access to a good range of facilities, including well-kept toilets, gas-fired hot showers, picnic benches and shared outdoor kitchen facilities. The small village of Rackenford, where there's a highly-recommended gastropub, is a five-minute drive away, while the larger town of Tiverton (10 minutes) is on hand for supermarkets, cafés and outdoor adventure equipment.

Bell tent (no pets)

Liked: This site was a perfect set up for us. We wanted to go camping but didn’t want to buy all the gear so this was a great choice for us. Everything you needed was provided. Site set up was lovely and clean. We also received a top up of wood each day for the little Log fire which was great, we needed it as unfortunately we were not blessed was warm dry weather but it didn’t stop us enjoying it all. The field the tents are situated in are beautiful and peaceful. There is nothing around you but that is what we wanted 😊 the tents are lovely and clean and beds are made up ready for you. We were perfectly warm in them! We loved the private kitchen set up areas with shower, that was a real positive for us. We would definitely stay again.

Disliked: Nothing 😊

Bell tent (no pets)

Liked: Real beds with bedding, wood provided and replenished for the wood burner which made the tent really cosy. Real crockery and glasses provided, a hot shower right next to the tent, fairy lights around the tent made a nice touch. Stunning views.

Disliked: Roads were rough on the car, no way to freeze ice blocks for cool box.

Bell tent (no pets)

Liked: Stayed on this Beautiful site earlier this week , only a small site , they supplied everything, from , plates ,cups , utensils, hobs, kettle for the hobs, own shower off a boiler, own toilet with toilet roll. Washing up liquid , sink , drinking water , weber bbq , log burner inside the bell tent with the wood supplied at no extra cost was the biggest feature for me as night time came it was lovely and toasty , fire pit wood too. Double bed and 2 singles , blankets duvets , fresh sheets, fairy lights in the tent , solar powered lights , only downfall was there wasn't no electric or electric point or fridge which I knew before I booked but wasn't a issue as we charged phones and tablets off power banks and the car , very clean tents , cooking wise there was a tesco 15 mins away so we cooked on the bbq the first night and got a takeaway the second with snacks drinks etc, the scenery was stunning with big hills or north devon in the distance and watching the sunset on the evening . Great little place would defo come back and the owners where lovely and helpful , great value for money .

Bell tent (no pets)

Liked: Lovely and clean, very peaceful and remote location that was safe for our young children. Everything had been thought of and provided and you literally just need torches, clothing and towels. Fab central location in Devon and the nearby town of Tiverton had everything you could need, Loved having our own shower, toilet and sheltered camp kitchen. And also the fact that there were just three bell tents in their own meadow. Definitely a good night of sleep had here. :)

Local attractions

Sydeham Farm Glamping is located between Tiverton and South Molton, a 20-minute drive from the southern edge of Exmoor National Park. In the surrounding area, you could go skydiving in Honiton (40 minutes), surfing or swimming on the sandy shores of Bideford (45 minutes), hike up to the top of Dunkery Beacon (40 minutes) or head for Go Ape Haldon (40 minutes) for an array of treetop challenges. If that all sounds rather over-energetic then quieter pursuits are also available, such as touring the foliage at Knightshayes Gardens (15 minutes), riding the funicular railway in Lynton and Lynmouth (45 minutes) or angling of an afternoon at Bellbrook Valley Trout Fishery (15 minutes). Assuming you can get the kids away from the cute farm animals back at base, it's also easy to find family-friendly attractions to keep your young ones happy. Top of the to-do list will be crowd-pleasers like Exmoor Zoo (30 minutes), The Big Sheep adventure farm (40 minutes) and Crealy Theme Park. Sweet-toothed toddlers, teens and other busy bees may also appreciate being so close to Quince Honey Farm (15 minutes), a hive of hands-on activities with lots of tasting opportunities.
