General

  • Devon farm site just outside Exmoor National Park, with lovely views
  • A 20-minute drive from Barnstaple; 45 minutes from Croyde
  • Pub 10 minutes' walk away in North Molton; easy access to A361

Round Ring Glamping is a rural Devon site on a farm just outside the Exmoor National Park and a few minutes’ stroll from the village of North Molton.

The views from here take in lots of gorgeous green scenery, and so do the footpaths that wend their way through the surrounding countryside. Getting here doesn’t involve lots of winding country lanes though: the speedy A361 is a mere five minutes’ drive away for easy getting in and out. That also means straightforward outings to the likes of Barnstaple (20 minutes’ drive) or the coast beyond at Croyde and Woolacombe (both around 45 minutes).

There are loads of places to get out for a walk around here, of course, but this part of the world is well served for family days out too: you may find the nippers drawing your attention to the presence of Exmoor Zoo, the BIG Sheep and the Milky Way Adventure Park, and there’s also the option for family-friendly bike rides over on the traffic-free Tarka Trail.

There’s plenty of space at this site, which is a laidback sort of place where you can bring dogs along and light barbecues to grill your evening meal (they've got barbecues for hire and charcoal and fire wood available to purchase on site to make such things easy). If you don’t fancy doing the cooking (or it’s not quite the weather for it…) you might be pleased to hear that it’s less than 10 minutes’ walk to the local pub for meals and pints.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

Continental touring caravans (caravans built with the door on the right-hand side) are not permitted.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Protective masks must be worn at all times in common areas.

Minimum spacing of 6 metres between pitches.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

The site owners were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble and they were happy to answer any questions.
On arrival there was cream tea in the bell tent as well as some milk and bits to make hot drinks.
The tent was clean and cosy, despite some strong winds we felt comfy all weekend!

First time glamping and I was impressed. Very well thought out and nothing to complain about. Everything you needed was supplied. The stove in the tent kept us lovely and cosy all night long. A little welcome present when we arrived, scones, jam and clotted cream. The farmer couple were very friendly. 😁

We came away as a slightly nervous family as it’s been our first trip anywhere since coming out of shielding. However the hosts Sally and Andrew made us feel so well looked after and at home - they are quite simply just lovely people who care about their guests and their business - the love they have for it shines through!

The bell tent was superbly equipped - and I’m a over packer so found we wanted for nothing at all! The cutest fairy lights provided ample lighting too. The beds were comfy and cosy. Even a rather lovely carpet was included too! We had such fun with the wood stove ... but didn’t set off any fire alarms so can’t have done too badly - cooking over a wood fire and in a wood oven was just charming and the tent had possible the best non-stick frying pan Iv ever has pleasure of using!

We had a fabulous open fire and cooked breakfast over the flame and an evening fire relaxing.

The field is spacious and even with other tents occupied you don’t feel overlooked at all. We had plenty of space to let our littles run around too.

The toilets and shower block are close by so midnights trips weren’t awful (the three year suddenly wanted night time wee’s more than ever... maybe something to do with the wonderful resident hooting owl we heard!) All were kept clean and smelling lovely (and I’m a porti loo hater but I’ve been shown they can be done nicely and hygienic).

Our only wish is that we wanted to stay longer!!!

    Disliked:

Not a dislike - but a mop in the shower would be nice so you can clear away the mud from the floor before and after use. Literally the only thing I would say!!

Quiet all night, a nice greeting by the owner when they drove past our tent. It was fine for a night. Could pitch where we wanted.

    Disliked:

Very, very basic facilities - portaloos, portable shower cabins and a tap for drinking water. No facilities for washing up. It was fine for a stopover on our journey home but not really suitable for longer.

The site is very much ‘back to basics’ it is a field with porta-loos and Porta shower cabins.. that said it was what we wanted and so lovely a peaceful! The field owners are very hands on and helpful - they have had some very hard weather to deal with what with the storms recently, and have spent a lot of time checking all the tents as well as the main pitching area. The tents are comfy - we had a double and 2x singles, bedding included. There is a stove which you can buy bricketts and firefighters for at the hut on the way in. The stove gives off some serious heat and kept us toasty on an evening - also cooked a bacon and eggs On it for breakfast..! There is cutlery, plates and a frying pan in the tent as well as a bench and BBQ outside. Washing up is a bit of a trick - I filled my washing bowl up in the shower otherwise would have had to use cold water. There is no electric to the site, but there are solar powered fairy lights And a ‘charging station’ so you have some basic light on a nice day - you can also charge electrical equipment if there has been enough sun..
If bad weather expected or staying when few is expected bring wellies - the grass is long and you will get wet feet 😂
Toilets where kept very clean - could have benefitted some solar lights as well perhaps..! The showers got very muddy - but to be expected with all the rain recently - the owners where trying very hard to try and keep everything clean!
