General

  • Devon farm site just outside Exmoor National Park, with lovely views
  • A 20-minute drive from Barnstaple; 45 minutes from Croyde
  • Pub 10 minutes' walk away in North Molton; easy access to A361

Round Ring Glamping is a rural Devon site on a farm just outside the Exmoor National Park and a few minutes’ stroll from the village of North Molton.

The views from here take in lots of gorgeous green scenery, and so do the footpaths that wend their way through the surrounding countryside. Getting here doesn’t involve lots of winding country lanes though: the speedy A361 is a mere five minutes’ drive away for easy getting in and out. That also means straightforward outings to the likes of Barnstaple (20 minutes’ drive) or the coast beyond at Croyde and Woolacombe (both around 45 minutes).

There are loads of places to get out for a walk around here, of course, but this part of the world is well served for family days out too: you may find the nippers drawing your attention to the presence of Exmoor Zoo, the BIG Sheep and the Milky Way Adventure Park, and there’s also the option for family-friendly bike rides over on the traffic-free Tarka Trail.

There’s plenty of space at this site, which is a laidback sort of place where you can bring dogs along and light barbecues to grill your evening meal (they've got barbecues for hire and charcoal and fire wood available to purchase on site to make such things easy). If you don’t fancy doing the cooking (or it’s not quite the weather for it…) you might be pleased to hear that it’s less than 10 minutes’ walk to the local pub for meals and pints.

Loved the setting -The owners Sally, Andrew and their daughter Katrina were so helpful and accommodating. Gave us great advice on where to go locally for days out. First glamping experience and we loved it all. Tents well equipped, showers hot, loos nearby. Farm sausages and burgers were the best Ive ever tasted! Highly recommend staying at Round ring Glamping.

The site is lovely and rural, the owner had lit our log burner and left local eggs and meat for us on arrival. Yurts are clean, comfortable and cosy. BBQ/fire pit and all essential crockery provided. Loos and showers were exceptionally clean and water was hot. It really was a lovely site to visit and we will be back

    Disliked:

So many pheasants!😂 Due to a local estate releasing birds for the shoot there are pheasants everywhere but they cause no bother (unless you’re a farmer with crops!) and are amusing to watch.

The spacious tent, which had all essentials you could think of for your stay, down to a washing up bowl, bbq utensils, crockery and cutlery. Plus extra blankets for cold night. The cleanliness of the toilet and shower facilities were high. The hosts were attentive, informative and friendly. The site itself is in a lovely position and the village, with handy pub and shop just a short walk away. I recommend purchasing the eggs and meat produce available as they were lovely.

We loved our two night stay here! We had a very friendly greeting when we arrived and very much appreciated all of the advice on getting our wood burner going! We were on the edge of the field and the views are absolutely STUNNING! We enjoyed sitting at the provided picnic bench and being warmed by our fire pit! The site was quiet and small and perfect do us! Perfect for a simple, lovely family adventure getting back to basics! We also enjoyed visiting the local honey farm and Tarrs steps which make a fab place to visit with the kids for a paddle!

    Disliked:

As many have said the field is on a slant, which we knew when booking from reading the reviews. For a short 2 night stay it really did not bother us! After the first night we had got used to it. The fabulous view made up for it!

Tent and the site generally were great, with fantastic views over the local countryside. We stayed in a primrose bell tent which was spacious, clean, warm and well kitted out. Beds were very comfortable. Toilets and other facilities were also good (nice hot showers). Can particularly recommend the home made burgers and sausages available to buy!

    Disliked:

Not the fault of the campsite but there was (I think) a wedding venue on a hill nearby. It must have been a mile or two away but we could clearly hear the very loud music until the early hours (luckily didn’t wake the kids up and we did enjoy the fireworks at midnight) so not as quiet as we would have liked.

Directions

Put the postcode into your satnav to get to the village. Look out for a car garage on your left-hand side, then turn left onto Back Lane. When you reach a T-junction at the end of this road, turn left and head up the hill. You will pass a 30mph speed limit sign which is heading out of the village. At the top of the hill, on your left you will see a telephone exchange (small brick building). The double gateway directly after this building is the entrance into the field.
