Ruby Country Camping: Nature-filled camping

General

  • Eco-friendly stays on a five-acre tree-lined Devon meadow
  • A 20-minute drive to Dartmoor; half an hour to Bude and Cornwall coast
  • Campfire area for each pitch; two miles to Hatherleigh via bike path

Ruby Country camping is an eco-campsite in the heart of West Devon, encouraging a connection to the outdoors to be at the heart of your experience. We love nature and are always finding ways to improve and develop our little piece of the world.

Our 5 acre meadow is lined with trees and a brook that gurgles along the southern boundary. Most of the meadow is left to nature, and we offer 7 spacious camping pitches in the meadow, so you'll have plenty of space to relax and enjoy the outdoors. There's A fully furnished Yurt (with log burner) and a fully furnished Lotus Belle. We call them 'cosy camping' Both of these have a covered camp kitchen and table, to shelter from the elements. We also have one Bell Tent (unfurnished) available for rent. Every pitch has its own campfire, with logs available to buy on site.

We may be a natural campsite, but there are hot showers and flushing toilets, as well as compost loos. Our goal is for you to reconnect with nature and the outdoors in a sustainable and enjoyable way.
Please note - We have No hard standings, electric hook ups or Wi-Fi

Please note

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Dogs are not allowed in the accommodation units.

Bookings must not consist of more than 2 different households.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

This is the loveliest campsite we have ever stayed on. Marc and Dinah were so welcoming and friendly we had a lovely time chatting with them over the course of our stay. The campsite is small and the pitches are huge, it feels as though you have the place to yourselves. The facilities are extremely high quality, the outside shower is such a treat. There’s a farm shop around the corner so we BBQ’d for our whole stay. There’s also a perfect walk for dogs right next door and in the field behind we were stunned to watch a barn owl on the hunt last night. All in all a really special and inspiring place to stay. We will definitely be back.

We stayed in Lotus Belle in August and absolutely loved it! The campsite has been done to a really high standard. Sparkling clean showers and toilets. The kitchen is very well equipped with lots of detail and some nice touches in the tent itself. The duvets were thick and kept us warm every night. The owners were very friendly and helpful! Overall it was 10* experience for sure!
We will be 100% recommending this camping site to our friends and family!

Very beautiful Pitch and location. Lots of planning and thoughts went in to make this pitch. Amazing shower and bathroom facilities. Specially love the open shower. Quality body wash, shampoo and conditioner provided and it is recommended to use them and they treat the water before releasing to the river. There is a kids play area with volleyball net , swing and hammock etc to enjoy your stay. We have seen other available tents / pods to rent which seems very cosy. Highly recommended
