  • Peaceful 10-acre site with views over the sea and Kingsbridge Estuary
  • Five minutes' drive to Torcross beach; 20 minutes to Salcombe
  • Set on a working farm in the South Hams; direct access to footpaths
Coleridge Farm is a peaceful, green and grassy spot in the gorgeous South Hams area of Devon. Settling down here comes with a lot of perks – the pubs and village amenities of Stokenham and Chillington are both just over a mile from base, while Torcross beach is a mere five-minute drive away. The fact that this is a farm site also has its plusses – you'll most likely catch glimpses of farm animals like cows and rare breed sheep during your stay here. (Please remember, though, that this is a working farm, so the maize fields are not for playing in and the site dogs will want to get on with their work). If you've set your sights on Coleridge Farm, make sure to pack a trusty pair of boots – as well as walking around this 10-acre site, you'll want to take advantage of the cross-country footpaths that run right past the farm gates. Wanders with waterside views can be sorted just down the road at Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve (five minutes' drive or half an hour's walk), where there are ample woodlands, reedbeds and fenlands to explore – and the fab Slapton Sands too, of course. The site's portable toilet facilities are simple but, when nature comes a-calling, mighty handy to have around. Other amenities include running water and an open-air cold shower. Dogs and barbecues are welcome here; if you fancy heading out for food and drinks, a local farm shop (within walking distance) cooks up evening pizzas to eat in or take away, with a full bar from the local brewery.

Route directions

From Kingsbridge, follow the signs for A379 towards Dartmouth. Keep going through several villages; after Chillington, keep going until you get to Stokenham. Take the first exit, past Stokenham school, then bear left up the steep hill out of the village in around 100 yards. At Coleridge Cross, keep left rather than turning off the road. The campsite is 100 yards along on the left.
