  • Wild camping site with a peaceful lake in the North Devon countryside
  • A 10-minute drive from a wake park; 35 minutes from Bude’s beaches
  • Fishing available on the pond; village amenities a short drive away
Eyes on North Devon for a peaceful escape? There’s plenty of peace and quiet at Hidden Haven, a wild camping site with a lake in the North Devon countryside. With a few neighbouring cows for company and pitches around the edge of the pond, this is a nice spot to perfect your fishing skills or wade down to Bude’s beaches for a go at watersports (Crooklets and Summerleaze are 35 minutes’ drive away). First, you’ll want to get stuck into the activities on site. There are small fish in the pond, great if you’re looking to teach young anglers. Otherwise, you may want to head into the communal summer house to play a few relaxed games or chill out for a little bit (making sure not to fall asleep, as there’s no sleeping permitted in here). The views are rather nice from this site as it looks down on the Torridge Valley. There’s a nearby public footpath you may wander onto to caper over the countryside. Otherwise, the attractive coastal villages may make for a scenic afternoon out - Clovelly and Buck’s Mills are both 15 minutes’ drive away. The trips may be thirsty work but handily, the site has access to mains water and basic unisex toilet facilities. And for those inevitable hunger pangs, the site is 10 minutes’ drive away from two villages, Bradworthy and Woolsery, each with a family-friendly pub and shops for supplies.
