Family friendly campsite south devon

  • Family campsite on a working farm five minutes’ drive from Totnes
  • Dartmoor National Park five minutes’ drive and Salcombe 40 minutes
  • Spacious grass pitches with South Devon views and modern facilities
Bag a giant helping of the best of South Devon when you pitch up at Wonton Park Camping, for staying here puts you close to Dartmoor National Park (five minutes’ drive), the indie shops in Totnes (five minutes) and the beach at Slapton Sands (half an hour). Set on a 150-acre working farm – with plenty of sheep around, and lambs in spring – this family-run site has jumbo-sized grass pitches with views over hills and valleys stretching into the distance. It’s easy to get too, as it’s 10 minutes off the A38 so you don’t need to worry about getting your motorhome stuck in winding Devon lanes. Families, couples or solo travellers are all very welcome, and there are tons of country walks directly from the pitches to keep everybody – and any holidaying dogs of course – well exercised. Spotless modern facilities are kept in tip-top condition, with flushing toilets and spacious showers with hot water on tap and a washing-up sink outside. All are checked and cleaned regularly. Foodwise, you have plenty of options from takeaways to breakfast cafés, traditional pubs to a couple of fine-dining restaurants, all within around 15 minutes’ drive.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Very quiet
Immaculate toilets and showers
Small site
Very focused on recycling
Overlooking the farm

Disliked The site could do with a larger sign as we missed it on first arriving. It is facing the direction from Totnes but not from the opposite way.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked A lovely quiet family friendly campsite, set up clearly and beautifully with the simple necessities. Hot powerful showers in a clean set up with decent toilets and washing up facilities along with the added bonus of a fridge to store perishables.

We arrived a little earlier than planned and found our plot easy enough (each plot numbered). Not long after beginning to set up our camp and we were greeted by our host, Amelia, a very friendly and welcoming lady. We sorted out the hire of a firepit which was delivered with all the kit the following day for us.

Good sized plots so you don't feel like your are squeezed in, even though the majority of the plots were in use during our stay. There were plenty of young families and older couples alike making it a good calm mix of fellow campers. The site was quiet each night by 10 and surprisingly quiet first thing in the morning too (excluding the local wildlife).

A very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend and visit again.

Disliked Being high up and quiet exposed there were times of high wind - obviously cannot control the weather but just to be prepared!

Friendly, lovely countryside views, peaceful and great facilities
