Pitches

  • Five-acre farm site with quiet, level-grounded dog-friendly pitches
  • A 15-minute drive from the coast; 20 minutes to Dartmoor National Park
  • Pub and small food shop within walking distance; footpaths nearby
Surfing up your street? Perhaps you have a flame for sailing, canoeing or coastal paths? A 15-minute drive away from the Devon coast and 20 minutes from Dartmoor National Park, Higher Seawardstone Farm is well-situated for making the most of the surf and sand, as well as hiking past Dartmoor’s ponies and river valleys, depending on which way you choose to go. Between Totnes and Kingsbridge or Dartmouth and Dartmoor, the pitches are in a peaceful pocket of the countryside on a five-acre farm with no road noise. The site is level-grounded and looks out over the countryside and sea, meaning you’ll be waking up to some rather splendid scenery. Dogs are welcome here, so it’s a good job that you’ll be surrounded by such quiet rural surroundings. There are many dog walks and footpaths surrounding the site. If kids want to bring their own games, a five-acre field is at their disposal. Other handy bits nearby include a small food shop and local pubs, a few minutes' drive from base. Those of you who worked up a good sweat on the footpaths or beaches will be particularly happy to find the site has an amenities block with showers and toilets. Aside from that, facilities on site include drinking water and a chemical disposal point. While there is no wifi at Higher Seawardstone Farm, there is good mobile internet coverage.

What customers say

This peaceful campsite offers stunning countryside and distant sea views, with spacious, level pitches. Visitors highlight the friendly and accommodating owners, who provide helpful directions and personal touches, such as animal interactions. Facilities are consistently described as clean and basic but functional. While generally quiet, some guests noted the access road can be narrow and occasionally the showers required a short wait when busy. It's considered a great base for exploring the South Hams.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Peaceful and uncrowded. Very easy check-in, friendly welcome. Good sized level pitch. Far-reaching views to the coast from this hilltop site. Short drive down lane to access main roads.

Everyone parked their vehicle alongside the fence at one end of the grass electric plots, leaving more space for tents etc.

Basic facilities were clean and well maintained.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Stunning views over the South Hams, a no frills site, clean, basic facilities but hot roomy showers, and when we stayed plenty of room. A great base for visiting the local towns and Dartmoor.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked The views were amazing at Higher Seaward-stone Farm.

Simple grass pitches with plenty of space for our van and awning and a reliable electric hook up.

There were 2 showers with enormous shower trays that were great as you have plenty of space to wash and dry yourself and 2 toilets that were kept very clean. This was adequate as Martin and Tracy don’t pack the site out and keep numbers low making it very peaceful.

A great situation for visiting both the moor and the beaches.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked I visited this site a couple of weeks, usually a solo camper but this time I took a friend. The site was lovely and peaceful and not too many people. Had our very own pitch, away from everyone, which was lovely.

There is a washing up area, a large toilet with shower, a separate toilet and separate shower. All kept clean and well stocked.

The views from the site were beautiful, you could even see the sea in the distance. We also had baby rabbits that came out to say hello, something that I haven't seen in ages in the fields where I live.

The site is about 6 miles from Totnes and we found a national trust, dog friendly beach, South Milton Sands.

Would definitely recommend.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Quiet and peaceful. Friendly owner, clean toilets and shower. Location was ideal for travelling to different activities.

Disliked Electric pitch sizes were a bit tight. Not too bad but could do with a bit more space between pitches

Local attractions

Make your way over the clifftops by following the South West Coast Path (15 minutes’ drive) and plan in plenty of pitstops for Cornish cream teas as you pass by the towns. There are plenty of coastal locations that will break up any hike or coastal drive with watersports or boat trips, such as Blackpool Sands (15 minutes) or Dartmouth (20 minutes). While you’re in Dartmouth, you’ll get to tick off Dartmouth Castle. Walk in the footsteps of former soldiers and Victorian workers as you explore the battery passageways and the gun tower. But where else must you tick off your Devon bucket list? Paignton (half an hour) has beaches, a pier, a geopark and the Paignton Zoo Environmental Park (half an hour). Dartmoor National Park (20 minutes) has gorgeous landscapes and hikes galore, of course, including the Dartmoor Way heritage trail. Then, there’s the family-friendly theme park at Woodlands Leisure Park (10 minutes) or the National Trust’s Overbeck's (half an hour), which was once the home of inventor Otto Overbeck, left to visit too - and they're both well worth the visit.
