Fully-serviced grass pitch

Liked: Large pitches, clean and tidy site and closeness to the park. Football pitch and crazy golf add to the fun.

Disliked: Being woken up at 5am by staff jet washing garden furniture!! Shower block not as clean as previous visits, heated floors not on so all very wet and slippery.

Local attractions

Away from the resort, it’s a short drive to seaside towns such as Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth, for watersports, sightseeing or just an ice cream on the beach. Another option is the vibrant and historical city of Exeter, to see the 13th-century cathedral, shop in the high street and independent shops, or wander down to the handsome quay for a wide range of restaurants and bars. If you’re holidaying in Devon you should also take a trip to the Dartmoor and Exmoor national parks, for ancient monuments, traditional pubs and old villages. Nearby Exmouth (15 minutes’ drive) is a gateway town to the Jurassic Coast, but hang around here for a bit first: the main beach at Exmouth is two miles long and is renowned for its watersports. There’s a protected windsurfing and kitesurfing area at the smaller and pebbly Shelly beach, where dogs are welcome all year round. From Exmouth, it’s 15 minutes by car to Budleigh Salterton with its famed red sandstone cliffs, and from here you can reach Lyme Regis in 45 minutes. Arrange guided fossil walks at the Lyme Regis Museum, hike the South West Coast Path, or drop into some of the many villages about to carefully contemplate which Devon or Dorset café does the best cream teas…
