The orchard

  • Laidback dog-friendly north Devon site with sea views from pitches
  • In Exmoor National Park and on the South West Coast Path
  • Horse riding and 'goat café' on site, plus bar with home-made cider
You’re off to the north Devon coast and Exmoor National Park, so presumably you’re hoping for beaches, coast walks, outdoor activities… and maybe a pint of local cider to round off the day? Well, you’ll get all of those at Caffyns Farm, a 160-acre property 10 minutes’ drive from Lynton and Lynmouth – oh, and you’ll get a ‘goat café’ too… This attractive location has sea views from its pitches, giving you a hint that you’re not far from the coast here. In fact, it’s an easy 20-minute walk to the nearest beach, Lee Bay, and as the South West Coast Path runs along the site perimeter, you’ll also be able to walk to places like Woody Bay, Valley of Rocks and Heddon’s Mouth. So that’s a winning location, but there’s more to come – because this is a friendly and laidback place where you can choose your own pitch, get your barbecue or campfire going and generally chill out. You’re welcome to take a wander around the farm to meet the friendly animals (sheep, alpacas and chickens among them) and maybe sign up for horse riding activities – they cater for all levels from beginners to advanced riders. After a walk through the orchard there’s only one thing for it – a pint of the farm’s own cider, of course. You can sample this alongside other drinks in the site’s bar, and also pick up snacks and barbecue supplies in the farm shop. Meanwhile, meals from breakfasts to three-course dinners are available in the barn café. Essential facilities on site include freshwater standpipes, a chemical disposal point, a launderette, two bathroom blocks and a kitchen with fridge/freezer and microwave.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked The friendly welcome. The well organised site with beautiful views of the sea. The showers because of the steady supply of hot water and because they were clean. The attitude towards fires. The numerous water points on the site. The relaxed attitude towards the departure. The menu choicesThe owners who clearly work very hard and are very dedicated.

Disliked Disliked the rude manner in which the equestrian lady spoke to my partner because she had inadvertently wandered into the vicinity of the horses (not clearly marked).
You can convey the same message without being rude or abrupt and chastising an adult like you would a child. We tried not to allow one person to mar our judgement on our visit.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Nice and spacious, with comprehensive facilities for use by the guests. Nice on site shop and cafe / bar.

Disliked Somewhat windy, due to the nature of the cliffside location, but not too excessive.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Huge pitches, great food from the bar, plenty of supplies in the shop, amazing veiws, optional horse riding onsite was great. Well equiped toilet and shower facilities.

Disliked Ground quite unlevel so finding a level pitch can be abit of a challange (we didnt have an issue) it was very windy when we stayed and the ground is very soft this combined meant the tent pegs kept pulling out the ground (use long pegs you'll be fine)

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Loved it! From the very welcoming, friendly and helpful lady in reception/shop. The layout of the site. Lots of little areas sheltered by hedges or wide open spaces. I liked the relaxed approach where you can choose your own spot and have a campfire if you want to. Dogs can be off the lead. The cafe/bar was cozy and the CAFFYN cider is delicious. Theres a well stocked shop that had just about everything you would need.
Loads of animals.. goats, horses, alpacas a lovely big lurcher dog and a cat!
Theres some beautiful walks through the orchard and down to a small cove with lots of waterfalls. BE WARNED! The walk back is a killer!! Very steep!!
There is a massive clean shower and toilet block and a huge washing up area with microwaves and washing machines. Lots ot thought has gone into this campsite and will definately be returning!

Disliked The grass had recently been cut and stuck to everything !

The steep walk back from the valley of the rocks.!! Haha!
