The orchard

  • Laidback dog-friendly north Devon site with sea views from pitches
  • In Exmoor National Park and on the South West Coast Path
  • Horse riding and 'goat café' on site, plus bar with home-made cider
You’re off to the north Devon coast and Exmoor National Park, so presumably you’re hoping for beaches, coast walks, outdoor activities… and maybe a pint of local cider to round off the day? Well, you’ll get all of those at Caffyns Farm, a 160-acre property 10 minutes’ drive from Lynton and Lynmouth – oh, and you’ll get a ‘goat café’ too… This attractive location has sea views from its pitches, giving you a hint that you’re not far from the coast here. In fact, it’s an easy 20-minute walk to the nearest beach, Lee Bay, and as the South West Coast Path runs along the site perimeter, you’ll also be able to walk to places like Woody Bay, Valley of Rocks and Heddon’s Mouth. So that’s a winning location, but there’s more to come – because this is a friendly and laidback place where you can choose your own pitch, get your barbecue or campfire going and generally chill out. You’re welcome to take a wander around the farm to meet the friendly animals (sheep, alpacas and chickens among them) and maybe sign up for horse riding activities – they cater for all levels from beginners to advanced riders. After a walk through the orchard there’s only one thing for it – a pint of the farm’s own cider, of course. You can sample this alongside other drinks in the site’s bar, and also pick up snacks and barbecue supplies in the farm shop. Meanwhile, meals from breakfasts to three-course dinners are available in the barn café. Essential facilities on site include freshwater standpipes, a chemical disposal point, a launderette, two bathroom blocks and a kitchen with fridge/freezer and microwave.

What customers say

Spacious pitches with sea views get top marks, as do the friendly staff. Hot showers, toilets, shop and cafe are excellent. Farm animals, horse riding and walks are big hits. Minor gripes: no recycling, uneven ground, steep walk back from bay.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Felt extremely welcome. I truly liked everything. The pictures were extremely spacious. I arrived late as a last-minute decision and was allowed to pick my spot as it was quiet… Stunning views over the sea and the hills. They have a shop on site which sells everything you could need as well as gas… there are goats which can be fed from there own food bought on site. They also have a on site bar/ café that sells a range of local products as well as ice cream :-)… the café served a wonderful variety of food and the seating area outside in the garden takes full advantage of what a wonderful view it has!…This will be one of my go too!! Thank you Caffyns Farm

Liked A great choice of pitches which were flat and well maintained.
The food in the cafe was delicious with very generous portions. The cider was also very good!

Disliked Two out of the three men's cubicles needed a clean.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked What a fabulous campsite! I've stayed at many sites, but this one has been the best..! Had a friendly welcome. Very relaxed, no check-out time, which was a real bonus for me as I like to hike, so I was able to leave my car there on the Sunday too. Some lovely small hedged areas to camp in if you want a little more seclusion. Showers were fab, very hot..! The shop was very well stocked, the café had gorgeous cakes, we had lunch there, and the portions were very generous! This site had everything you needed but still kept a rustic charm, and was fab for the children to see all the animals and go riding too..! & follow a nature trail. Great for getting to the SWCP.

Disliked Nothing at all

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Views were stunning
Facilities were great - toilets, showers, cafe/bar, shop
Loved seeing all the animals on site
Could easily access footpaths from the campsite

Disliked Unfortunately my dog picked up lots of ticks from the long grass around the campsite, we were vigilant and kept checking our dog, but it might be an idea to include signs for pet owners to check their dogs. My husband also found two ticks in the shower so maybe a sign for humans to check themselves too!

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Everything. What a fantastic site!! Choose your own pitch...which was hard at first as there is so much choice. I went for somewhere I could see the sea and away from the busier areas near the washrooms. I have 2 dogs who can be a bit barky but our pitch was secluded enough. There was plenty of life and other campers around but it didnt feel busy because the pitch fields are separated. It just works really well.

From my pitch I had a little walk to the washrooms but great facilities provided. Also a useful shop and bar/cafe on site. The make their own cider, which you can purchase on site!

An orchard area for the dogs and walks from site..but be warned the hill down to the bay is steep, but manageable.

I'm a solo women camper and I felt very safe here. There is honestly nothing more I could have wished for I hope to return in the future.

Disliked That I had to go home 😭
