What customers say
This campsite offers a peaceful, laid-back experience with friendly staff and lovely farm animals. It's praised for its spacious, level pitches, clean basic facilities, and convenient location close to Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. However, some guests found the facilities dated and in need of maintenance, with issues like a lack of hooks, poor lighting, and hygiene concerns. Access to advertised views was also noted as difficult from tent pitches. Concerns were raised about farm equipment safety and dog mess management.

We had a lovely time.
Non-electric grass trailer tent or tent pitch
Liked The campsite was quiet and peaceful with plenty of space. The owners were really friendly and welcoming and there was a lovely farm too. There is a stables next door that you can horse ride from. The toilet block and shower are basic but clean and fine. It’s easy to get taxis to and from Ilfracombe, and Woolacombe, Croyde and other beaches are close by.
Disliked Nothing really, you need a washing up bowl and kettle to be able to wash up.

In need of Upgrading & a little TLC!
Non-electric grass trailer tent or tent pitch
Liked This is promoted as a working farm, although apart from the large Chicken, Goose & Pig pens you drive past on your way in and the horse riding centre next door, we didn't actually see any evidence of farming activity. Whilst this may have been a part of a working Farm in the past, it appeared to us that their main source of income now was residential given that they offered Camping, Caravanning & Motorhome pitches, a Camping Barn and Bed & Breakfast facilities! Past the Farm buildings the first field you drive into has electric hook up points all around the edge so appears to be for C&C members only with little views apart from that of the Farmhouses, and it was only Campervans & Caravans. To the side is what I am guessing is the actual field with the views which reviewers are talking about, although again we were under the impression that this was for members only as we couldn't find how to access it, until the very last day, where we noticed a small gate hidden to the side, so not obvious! To the back of all this further down was the third field with a tall boundary hedge running along one side and a low bank running parallel opposite with a large flat rectangular area sandwiched in between, this was for Camping and where all the tents appeared to be. It was nice, flat and level ground, a must for tents, drinking water tap and bins at the end of the field. But what ruined this was at the end was the area for Caravan Storage which had started to spill out into the camping field, a real no no allowing stored caravans to start taking up space in the Camping Field! The owners really do need to clearly define these spaces and to keep the storage separate, views of the hedge and lots of empty caravans isn't exactly enticing!
Disliked Again back to the comment about a working Farm, we thought leaving old farm equipment, which can be hazardous in itself, lying on the side of the fields to rot and rust away was a real danger and hazard, especially to children and I’m surprised from a Health & Safety viewpoint that they were even allowed to do this?
The toilets and showers are back at the farm buildings so a bit of a walk, especially at night, they were clean but worn and in need of updating. Given that I had to clean out the shower tray before use, found slugs in my shower and the soap dispenser had run out, I got the impression that this was not checked on a regular basis? No hooks to hang clothes or shelf for toiletry bags in the toilets or by the sinks, which would be handy. And there is nowhere for washing up dishes, we had to fill a bowl from the shower to get hot water and do this back in our tent. So the facilities were basic, simple and functional, but with rusty shower poles and bolts on doors, are in serious need of updating. Also a portaloo or eco composting toilet in the camping field would negate the long trek to the loo in the middle of the night (again hazard of being spiked by rusting farm equipment in the night!).
There are two Spaniel Farm Dogs left to run around on their own and sweet as they may be, it's quite obvious that these two farm dogs are responsible for all the dog poo lying around, as there was large amounts of dried dog poo in the car parking area next to the toilets and a number of fresh dog poo appeared on the path to the tents in the morning with the culprits happily running around the tents. The owners really do need to keep an eye on this as it's not good from a hygiene viewpoint with children playing. Toxicaris is a parasite that Dogs carry which can make children go blind and one of the reasons why Dogs are banned on beaches and in play areas. The owners should know this and carry out daily checks to clean up after their dogs, as I’m sure they would expect everyone else to do so too!
Another real no no is that we came back to find that they had cut the grass all around the tents, leaving grass clippings splattered on the outside of the tent. By all means cut the grass and collect the clippings when no-one is there, but leaving wet clippings to be trodden into tents and caravans really shows a lack of foresight. Yet amazingly the fresh dog poo was still there!
On the plus side there were not many people here when we visited over a July weekend so nice and quiet and very close to Ilfracombe and other places. However I’ve stayed on other C&C Club sites which have been far superior and for the price we paid (£144 for three nights Camping), I would certainly expect better, as there are plenty of other camping sites around the area!

Non-electric grass trailer tent or tent pitch
Liked The instructions for where to go on arrival were very clear and we found a good level pitch near the alpacas. There was plenty of space and we had privacy from other campers with a lovely view of the sunset. Toilets were clean and showers had plenty of hot water, and there were enough available that you didn’t need to wait around. Showers were free too. We also had added company from the farm dog Luna, who was very sweet! Very easy drive into Ilfracombe too.
