View from the site

  • Farm park in Devon with sea views on three sides: pitch where you like
  • A mile from Ilfracombe, four from Woolacombe and 10 from Exmoor
  • Showers and toilet block
Take your tent to Mullacott Farm for pitching up with sea views, in the coastal preservation area of north Devon, a mile from Ilfracombe, four miles from Woolacombe and 10 from Exmoor… Guests have sea views on three sides from the camping fields at this family-run farm, overlooking Woolacombe and Lundy Island to the west, Lee Bay and Ilfracombe to the north, and on a clear day the south coast of Wales; you'll be able to spy countryside landscape from your tent too. Mullacott is a gently sloping and basic site, with simple but clean facilities including showers and toilets 100 metres from the camping field. Pitches are unmarked, so settle down wherever you fancy and get prepped to take in those three-sided Devon sea views.

What customers say

A peaceful, rural campsite offering great value. Handy for Ilfracombe & Woolacombe. Friendly welcome, farm animals, and good pitches noted. Facilities are basic but clean; some mention uneven ground and limited washing-up.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Big field with lovely views.
The kids loved the alpacas and goats.
Not too far away from Ilfracombe and the beach.

Disliked No washing up facilities
Very scruffy toilets.
Shower cubicle in ladies toilet block closed off so there were only three working showers.
No WiFi or 4G and we had no phone signal either.

From the manager: Thank you for your review.

It is wrong to be reviewed on facilities we do not offer and are clear on the advert we do not have.
We have never offered wifi, and unfortunately some mobile services work better than others for mobile phones, this is not our fault though.

We do only have 3 showers, which is more than enough for the size of camp site. The one in the ladies is shut due to vandalism.

We do not offer washing up area either, again due to multiple vandalism. We do however offer a bucket and bowl to use in your stay, which you can fill with piping hot water from the showers.

Our toilets are dated, basic and old, but clean, and we will always do an additional clean if we are told it has been messed up between cleaning and multiple daily checking. To revamp the toilets and showers would be very expensive, and would have to up the cost of camping, which we do not want to do.

Good for what we needed. Showers…

Liked Good for what we needed. Showers worked. Powerful flush on the toilets. Drinking water via a tap. Fairly welcoming hosts.

Disliked Although it’s a working farm, the ducks were very loud next to our tent! Wondering if they could be let outside a tad later.

Liked Area was nice, good welcome, loved seeing all the animals

Disliked High up so very windy. Tent blew down first night, ended up sleeping in car. Didn't stay for 2nd night albeit paid for

From the manager: I am pleased you liked many features of the farm, but unfortunately I am unable to do anything about the weather, and it is not my responsibility the quality of the equipment you bought with you, so the review is a little unfair.

Local attractions

It shouldn't surprise those who know a bit about north Devon that the setting of Mullacott Farm is handy to days (weeks) of things to do for all ages, abilities, tastes and budgets. One of Devon's most popular beaches, Ilfracombe, is only a mile away and has a Victorian town attached with a working harbour where fish can be bought from the quayside (and yes, Mullacott Farm allows barbecues). Several walks start from around here, including Capstone Hill, Hillsborough and the Torrs. Woolacombe, four miles away, is a surfing hotspot and popular family beach; it's surrounded by National Trust land and has miles of coastal walks and cracking scenery. The biggest nearby town is Barnstaple, 13 miles from base and with the nearest train station to the farm as well as the famed Pannier Market; the team also recommends a wander around the market town and weekly livestock market of South Molton. Exmoor is about 10 miles to the east and the villages of Lynton and Lynmouth just beyond, with the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway and walks along the flood site of 1952, the Valley of the Rocks, and the South West Coast Path and Tarka Trail.
