  • Award-winning park in a wooded valley and wildlife haven
  • Within 15 minutes' drive of Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and Croyde Bay
  • Play parks overlooking gardens and lake
If life’s little stresses are getting you down, flee and hide away in this award-winning park in a Devon wooded valley. From your doorstep at Hidden Valley Park all the highlights of north Devon are within easy reach: the famed beaches of Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and Croyde Bay are no more than 15 minutes' drive away, and family days out at The Big Sheep are about half an hour from the site. But this pretty place is so secluded you'll feel like the world outside doesn’t even exist (which is always a win…). There's no need to leave the grounds until you're fully perked up, with plenty of peaceful options including wandering along the stream running through the park, lazing about the lakeside area, or taking a woodland walk to spot kingfishers and otters. Take a tramp through the forest then come back to relax around the gardens and lake – there’s wifi access too so you can load up your phone/tablet and studiously avoid catching up on work. Which is also a win… Kids and dogs can hide away too, as there are two play parks for the youngsters and the park is dog-friendly. Amenities include luxury shower and toilet blocks with hairdryers and underfloor heating, full disabled facilities, a reception with tourist information, a licensed shop and a launderette. Once it’s time to venture off site, a bus stop is just outside the entrance to the park.

What customers say

This is a well-run campsite in a beautiful woodland setting with a stream. Visitors praise the friendly, helpful staff, spacious and clean pitches, and excellent, well-maintained facilities, particularly the underfloor-heated shower blocks. The location is ideal for exploring local attractions. Minor points include some road noise, the cost of Wi-Fi, and occasional maintenance needs for play equipment.

Electric optional grass touring caravan, tent or trailer tent pitch (premium)

Liked Great size pitch.
Lovely walk with lots of trees
Bus stop to ilfracombe, Woolacombe .
In ilfracombe the bus stops outside of a Wetherspoons.
Ilfracombe is beautiful ,lots of lovely quaint shops, harbour and places of interest.
We caught a second bus to Woolacombe ,very nice ,but very small we thought it was going to be a larger place.

Disliked Electric card didn’t work, had to walk to reception who said yes money was on card, had to try again. Had to ring for someone to bring new card .
Shower block was ok (probably in need of updating) ladies. no running hot water no matter how long you ran it for, it was cold, also said by other people we spoke to. Same for washing pot facilities just Luke warm if lucky.
Grass was long and we were camping, had to ask for mower to come a cut in front of tent because when wet we got wet. This was sorted.

Electric optional gravel touring pitch (small)

Liked Spacious pitches, easy access to toilet shower facilities etc. Nice little bar with outside space to sit. Beautiful surroundings with so many different trees and plants. The lake was peaceful too. Lovely staff, very welcoming and helpful. Electricity was optional, we stayed 5 nights and got a refund for the credit not used. Lovely kids play area with a stream running through the site.

Electric optional gravel touring pitch (small)

Liked Solo traveler, felt safe.
Very clean & tidy. Lovey surroundings with a wooded area to walk around.
Lovey cafe/restaurant, fairly priced, pleasant food.
I would stay again.

Disliked If you are pitched up near the main road, there is a small amount of traffic noise, if are looking for a very tranquil place to stay, may not be for you.
Dogs are not allowed in the reception area, some tie up points would be really helpful.

Food and drinks on site was spot on too.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch (premium)

Liked Beautiful camp site, lovely stream running through for kids to play in, friendly welcome, nice private large pitches and good dog walking through the woods.

Disliked The shop was not stocked with essentials like bread or milk very reliably so don’t come relying on that. Some road noise but not too bad.

Liked What a lovely camp. Met at reception who talked you through your pitch. Loaded up an electric card. Pitches lovely and wide with hedges for privacy. A good walk around the site to keep the dog quiet.
There is a club house on site reasonably priced. We had lunch there which was nice.
Facilities were clean and tidy and clean regularly by site staff.
Easy driving access to some great places.

Local attractions

Hidden Valley is four miles from two of Devon’s best-known beaches, Woolacombe and Ilfracombe, five miles from the surfing mecca of Croyde Bay and six from a family day out at the beach of Saunton Sands. The areas around all these are well worth a look, but the Victorian harbour town of Ilfracombe is a must for bucketloads of boat trips such as punts out to nearby Lundy Island, the seafront with the Landmark Theatre, and St Nicholas Chapel on Lantern Hill, where a light has shone over the harbour for over a thousand years. Bring a torch for a walk to the Ilfracombe Museum and Tunnels beach, reached by tunnels through the cliff. Many family attractions close by for all weathers, including Exmoor Zoo (25 minutes' drive) and The Big Sheep (30 minutes), while sprogs will probably also like spotting ponies in the Exmoor wilderness, getting creeped out in the dungeon labyrinths of Watermouth Castle (20 minutes) or taking to the skies in the rides at the Milky Way Adventure Park, 45 minutes away at Bideford.
