Pitch overlooking the devon countryside

  • Award-winning 80-acre site two miles from the beach
  • Pools, pub, fish and chip shop, sauna, steam room and gym
  • Five private fishing lakes, woodland adventure zone and nature trails
Anyone who relishes a bit of variety on their holidays should give this award-winning site serious consideration: there are buckets and spades of activities for all ages, both on site and in the immediate vicinity. Tucked into a valley, only a mile away from swathes of Blue Flag beaches, and a 10-minute drive from Dawlish Warren, Cofton Holidays has 80 acres of meadows, orchards and woodland laced with nature trails for visitors to explore. The facilities here will keep the whole family happily entertained for weeks: Cofton's indoor pool has massage jets and hydrotherapy bubble loungers, as well as a sauna, steam room and gym (a small additional charge applies), and there's a splash area with water jets to entertain the kids. Or set off angling instead at one of the five private fishing lakes, to bag a monster carp (24-pounders aren't unknown here). More? Kids can bounce around in the three dedicated play areas or explore the adventure zone in the woods, with activities such as pond dipping and bug hunting laid on in season; if it’s raining, there’s also a games room with amusements and a pool table. After these exertions, retire to the poolside patio of the Swan Inn for a refresher and a snack: the pub opens every night and serves up a good range of grub (breakfast and lunch are also available at weekends), plus regular entertainment including live bands, discos and karaoke in high season. Cofton also has its own fish and chip joint, as well as a shop for any vittles you might need. Wifi across the whole site (charges apply) means staying connected is simple, and it’s also worth mentioning that Cofton has excellent facilities for disabled visitors.

What customers say

This is an extremely well-maintained and clean campsite with excellent facilities, including popular swimming pools and a wide range of activities for all ages. Staff are consistently praised for being friendly and helpful. Pitches are generally spacious and the site is well-located. Minor drawbacks mentioned include occasionally slow service in food outlets and some extra charges for amenities like WiFi, with a few visitors noting an issue with shower timers and a lack of soap in some toilet blocks.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Facilities were immaculate, great access to the pool, close to the cycle trails, staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Had a few friendly chats with the housekeeping team at the ten acres field, who fed back any comments/complaints we had.

Loved the showers first ever campsite without the annoying push button and able to change the temperature.

We would stay again purely for the facilities but would be more prepared with the need for paying for extras.

Disliked Toilet/shower block felt like it had the heating on even in 28 degree heat! I kept leaving the bathrooms feeling so hot, I felt like I was going to pass out!

The pitches were advertised as much larger than they were, we had very little space between our tent and our car. Which meant we had no room to put up the tarp for shade.

The pool area is lovely and clean, however I feel you need to at least put umbrellas up around the pool for shade. There were only a few tables by the cafe/pub with umbrellas which were always already taken.

The bins by the washing up area were always full, in this heat they needed to be emptied at least daily if not twice a day, we spoke to the housekeeping team and were told they we no longer allowed to empty them as it had been given to the grounds team who just weren't doing it. They did keep feeding it back to their managers tho to try and get it sorted.

The shop was quite pricey and needed a better selection of drinks.

We were also very disappointed that we were unable to refreeze our own ice packs and instead we had to rent more from the shop. The campsite is one of the most expensive ones we have stayed at so would expect to be able to have the facilities to refreeze our own and not have to pay for more. Wifi was very expensive so we just didnt bother with it. Luckily we had 5g at our pitch albeit itimittant signal.

As said above we would stay again but would be more prepared for the extras needing to pay for. I think this is something you need to look at tho as every campsite we have stayed at previously has had the facility to refreeze ice packs for free. Seemed a bit of a con to have to pay to rent new ones from you.

From the manager: Thank you Hayley so much for your thoughtful and detailed review! We’re so happy to hear you enjoyed the immaculate facilities, friendly staff, and the easy access to the pool and cycle trails. It's also great to know you appreciated the showers without the push-button timers—definitely a comfort when camping!

We’re really sorry to hear about the challenges you faced with the heat in the toilet/shower block and the space on your pitch. We completely understand how frustrating that must have been, especially in hot weather. We’ll definitely take your feedback into account to ensure that the temperature and space are more comfortable for future guests.

As for the pool area, we hear you on the need for more shade options and we’ll explore adding more umbrellas or shaded seating to improve the experience. We’ll also pass your comments along regarding the bins, ice packs and Wi-Fi charges—your thoughts are really important to us and we’ll definitely look into how we can improve in those areas.

It’s great to hear that despite these areas of improvement, you’re considering staying again. We’d love to welcome you back for another stay and make sure your next visit is even better!

Thank you again for your feedback and for giving us the opportunity to improve!

7.5 metre electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked We had a great stay at this caravan camping site. The facilities were very clean and well-maintained, and the service was excellent throughout. There were plenty of activities available for both children and adults, which made it a perfect choice for our family. The area where the site is located is also beautiful and peaceful — ideal for a relaxing holiday.

I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and family-friendly camping experience. We are already thinking of returning in the future!

Disliked One of the highlights was definitely the staff — everyone we interacted with was extremely friendly and helpful. In the first couple of days, we did have a major issue with the internet connection — it barely worked at all. However, after reporting it, the team took the matter seriously and seemed to act quickly. The issue was resolved as fast as possible, and the internet worked very well for the rest of our stay.
