  • Campsite in the Heart of Dartmoor
Fresh Dartmoor air, open moorland and a welcoming pub just a short stroll from your pitch — The Plume of Feathers is a handy base for exploring this beautiful corner of Devon. Set in Princetown, in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, the site brings together tent camping, non-electric campervan and motorhome pitches, and fully furnished bell tents. Whether you’re stopping for a walking weekend or settling in for a longer countryside escape, you can enjoy the outdoors with the comfort of a pub close by. Guests have access to hot showers and toilets, plus an Elsan disposal point for campervans and motorhomes. The bell tents offer a ready-made camping option for those who prefer to arrive without packing their own tent. Pitches and bell tents are non-electric, making this a place to switch off and enjoy the surroundings. The on-site Plume of Feathers pub serves food and drinks — ideal for a meal after a day on the moors, a relaxed afternoon pint or an evening together without needing to drive elsewhere. Princetown is well placed for discovering Dartmoor’s rugged tors, open landscapes and walking and cycling routes. Spend your days exploring, spotting the famous Dartmoor ponies or visiting the surrounding villages, before returning for a hot shower and something satisfying to eat. Come for the scenery, bring your sense of adventure, and make yourself at home at The Plume of Feathers.

Local attractions

Dartmoor’s wide-open moorland, granite tors and country trails offer plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling, photography and wildlife spotting. From a gentle stroll to a full day exploring, there’s plenty to enjoy around Princetown. Start with a visit to the Dartmoor National Park Visitor Centre in Princetown for inspiration and local information. Walkers can explore routes towards South Hessary Tor and the open moorland beyond, while the historic buildings and village cafés provide options for a more leisurely outing. Further afield, discover the striking scenery around Two Bridges and Wistman’s Wood, or visit Postbridge to see its famous medieval clapper bridge. Burrator Reservoir is another popular spot for scenic walks and picnics. For a change of pace, head to the market town of Tavistock for independent shops, cafés and its pannier market. Families can also plan a day at The Garden House near Buckland Monachorum or explore Plymouth, with its waterfront, historic Barbican and National Marine Aquarium. After a day out, return to The Plume of Feathers for food and drinks, just a short stroll from your pitch.
