  • Countryside park on 500 acres, 15 minutes' drive from Woolacombe
  • Woodland walks, nature trails, pool and riding centre on site
  • Two on-site bars and a takeaway; play park and miniature golf
Life’s little stresses getting you down? Want to stow yourself away for a countryside break where everything is close to your pitch? Come along to Combe Martin’s Stowford Farm Meadows in north Devon for a bit of de-stressing in a rural setting: the park is a mile from the main road down its own private drive and is a well-placed base from which to explore the best of Devon. Set among 500 acres of Devon woodland and meadows, Stowford Farm Meadows falls into the category of ‘very large’ sites – but fear not if your tastes tend towards the more solitary, as the park is divided into five separate fields and feels like several small sites rolled into one. The overall size means there are heaps of facilities and activities for you to try your hand at, from cantering around on horseback with the help of the on-site riding centre, to driving the kids crazy with your swish moves at the crazy golf. Looking for something a bit quieter? There are marked woodland walks into the wildlife-rich Bittadon valley, with nature trails starting and finishing on site. A heated indoor pool is available for a small extra charge; some days, there are also activities here like the aqua inflatable run and 'aqua paddlers' sessions for kids (both at an additional charge). For putting feet up or letting hair down, the site has two bars (with evening entertainment in peak season) and an on-site takeaway. For supplies, Stowford Farm Meadows has a licensed, well-stocked shop for your caravan and camping accessories. And finally? Even the dog will de-stress here, with a friendly welcome and a spacious dog-walking area on site…

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Beautiful views over the countryside, the site was peaceful and well maintained. Staff we spoke to were extremely helpful and friendly. Shop was well stocked and reasonably priced; although the week we stayed there had been a problem with deliveries so shop had no bread or milk, but the lady in shop was very apologetic (not her fault!) and there are shops/supermarkets just down the road so wasn't ever a real issue. Pub served good food and the kids loved the park/open spaces for playing ball games on.
Only giving 8 stars because there was a lot of onsite activities which all looked great and very popular but unfortunately we were so busy exploring the area that we didn't get chance to have a go at any of them, so can't give a fair review if them. We did also purchase the WiFi vouchers for the week which ended up being slightly inconsistent, but not a deal breaker as we only really used WiFi to plan days out and for kids at bedtime.
Overall a fantastic holiday in a really beautiful area of Devon, we will definitely be back for our next camping trip!

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Big pitches, flat, walks good for dogs, dog friendly in all places.

Disliked Needs a refurb. Stables bar smelt of kitchen every day, fish and chips extremely expensive. Main bar area needs a refurb. Most of the kids arcades weren't working. Entertainment was poor. Brochure stated the guest singer was on for 2 hours, only did one hour.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Facilities and Grounds,

Disliked Campers lack of Respect for other campers,
Shouting , Crying Screaming Kids, into the early hrs, including some adults talking and Laughing into the early hrs, lack of perental control, and camping etiquette for other Respectful campers.
Security patrol needed after 10PM curfew should be carried out, loud music, games , running about, never again at Stowford Farm Meadows, left a day early to get away. Needs to have strict rules.
Booked pitch & Location in May, to arrive and pitch given to someone else.
Works going on in main weeks, surly should be kept out of season.
Big Dogs Barking, some loose.
Wasn't a good experience.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Toilets and showers were plentiful, very clean and well maintained. The site has plenty of activities especially for children, including an indoor swimming pool.

Disliked Our pitch was too inclined; high levelling ramps were a necessity.
The site was central for many places, but there was no bus stops nearby.
The crazy golf was very run down, and in need of repair; definitely not worth the money being charged to play.
The club house was very dated and in need of refurbishment.
There should be tables and benches in view of the park, so that children can be monitored whilst playing.
The 'farm shop' needs to be properly stocked with essentials and local produce; very poorly stocked whilst we were there.
There should be more lights around the site; far too dark in areas when walking back to our pitch at night.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Good sized pitch

Disliked The bikes with 4 seats were just left around unlocked so me and my friends went on them assuming we were allowed to. A man in a van pulled up on us gave us the worst attitude ever like we were children telling us off for being on them. I apologised and said if i knew we had to pay i would not of taken them. He then continued to follow us in his van for us to put them back. He got very close behind us slightly revving as if to say hurry up. I don’t appreciate being told off like a toddler after I explained it was a genuine mistake

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Nice big campsite with lots to offer. Good facilities and entertainment.

Disliked The site has got to stop the dino carts or at least have a designated area where people can take them. Allowing children to have free rein on heavy peddle carts on a site with big hills makes no sense. We saw many children riding them with zero control. Our caravan was also damaged by someone crashing into it.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked We had a good pitch. Plenty to do for families on site. Good shower facilities. Good location for seeing the area.

Disliked Nothing major. We were given a pitch initially that was occupied when we got there but were given a replacement pitch quickly.

Wifi was rubbish unless you paid for it. Be good to offer free wifi to all guests.

Local attractions

The highlights of north Devon are a pebble throw away, with Combe Martin on the doorstep and the famed harbour and seafront of Ilfracombe a few miles away (if you forget your wetsuit, the clever sorts at Stowford sell them in the on-site shop). Take little monsters to the animatronic dinosaurs, train ride and 250 species of wildlife at Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park where they can help feed the lions or see the birds of prey, or along to Exmoor Zoo for yet more species to see. Not thrilling enough? Let them see stars at the Milky Way Adventure Park with the tallest rollercoaster in Devon, or whirl about the rides and play areas of The Big Sheep.
