General

  • Six-acre farm site with spectacular views towards Dartmoor
  • Meet the farm animals and have a trailer or tractor ride
  • Bar and restaurant, toddlers' playroom and games room for older kids

Old MacDonald had a…Parkers Farm? Herd your fledglings here to meet Susie the miniature goat and the rest of the herd: ponies, lambs, guinea pigs, rabbits, pigs, ducks, chickens, sheep and cows all live on Parkers Farm Holiday Park, right in the middle of the south Devon countryside with quacking great views towards Dartmoor and a 12-mile drive from the coast. (Naturally, dogs are welcome too.)

Farm fans can milk their holiday for all it’s worth with trailer and tractor rides around the site and daily farm walks to meet, greet and feed the menagerie; safe play areas and six acres of fields are available for the kids and dogs to go free range at too. Off site, the farm is near a flock of other Devon animal attractions: Pennywell Farm, Paignton Zoo and meeting the ponies of Dartmoor are within a quick drive.

The Parker family have run the farm as a holiday park for over 60 years and know the ropes in keeping guests relaxed and a-moo-sed: Miss Piggy's bar and restaurant dishes up home-cooked and well-cooked meals as well as takeaway, and has evening entertainment from mid-July to the end of August. (Dogs are welcome in the bar’s Oak Room).

Next to the bar, a spacious play/TV room is for toddlers to let loose in and older kids have a games room with video games, pool tables and table tennis.

Guests also have access to the stacks of clean and up-to-date facilities: two tiled shower blocks with free hot showers, two big family rooms, well-equipped disabled facilities and a large area for washing up and prepping vegetables.

Other amenities include a shop open from Whitsun to mid-September, launderette and free ironing facilities, post box and public phone, battery charging and an ice pack service.

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Single-sex bookings of 3 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Evening entertainment in the bar/restaurant runs during the main season (mid-July to the end of August) only; the shop is open Whitsun to mid-September only. Farm walks, tractor and trailer rides around the site run during the main season (mid-July to end of August) only.

Staff were lovely and did a great job of entertaining the kids. Lovely site. Great view from pitch. Kids loved all the animals and the several different play areas. Food in clubhouse was lovely. Facilities were always immaculate and very well kept.

    Disliked:

The noise from A38 could put some people off but it didn't bother us.
It was a nice site but was let down hugely by the people staying on it. Our first week was lovely and peaceful but second week was plagued by yobs swearing and arguing. Music being played loud late at night and big groups socialising very loudly. The site was also plagued by kids who thought it was OK to punch, kick and even strangle other children. I know this isn't the owners fault but something to consider. As I said it was a lovely site with great staff and facilities just majorly let down by the clientele

Was a lovely clean park with good facilities.
The children had loads to do such as parks, animals to see, farm walk where u could walk sheep on leads and feed the animals.
Take away food which is anything of full menu which was good if u wanted a change to BBQ food like us. This area has a dog friendly area which is a nice touch. Evening entertainment we only saw two bingo i wouldn't go to (see my dislike ) but the singer was good !!
The welsh lady on reception is lovely and so helpful !

    Disliked:

It was a shame there was no enclosed dog area where u could take them of leads for a bit.

Was very dark at night which meant even with torches if u wanted to sit out was hard.

My main dislike mind was the bingo caller we went with children aged 7,9,11,12 and the bingo was sold very child orinitaed however the 69 comment was horrid! And this was just the one! There were loads I had unfortunate task of mixing balls It was horrid whilst he made comment after comment about mixing his balls . Was quite sleezy and made me and family feel
Uncomfortable ! Shame really as we love bingo and having a dog area inside was a plus .

We had only had our camper van one week and this was our first overnight stop. We had a great friendly welcome at reception, a quick efficient checkin and we taken to our pitch, from which we had an amazing view of the countryside. We had a few questions which were all answered with patience and humour.
The facilities were immaculate and very smart. A visit to the friendly bar and a few games of 13 card bingo finished off our day!! Excellent stay.

    1. Really friendly staff
    2. Super-clean shower/toilet blocks with plenty of sinks for washing up
    3. Flat pitches with amazing views
    4. Lots of little extras (Tractor rides, play areas and bar entertainment)
    5. Good central location for touring the area, Dartmoor, Torquay, Brixham, Paignton and Teignmouth are all local but be prepared to drive everywhere.
    6. Excellent value for money

    Disliked:

Long walk to the toilet but we got used to it!
We were under the impression there was a communial fridge (I think I mis-read previous reviews). However the reception/shop area has a freezer which is accessible for 12 hours a day so we were able to keep ice packs frozen.

Local attractions

You might be all of a dither trying to decide which Devon attraction or activity to recommend first, as coast, country, active options and peaceful pursuits are all near Parkers Farm, whether you prefer off the beaten track or more famed areas like Dartmoor National Park.

Hit the beaches first, perhaps? Your farm pitch is a paltry 12 miles from the Devon coastline and the seaside towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. All three towns have their own sights to see if you want to take a separate day at each: after a trip to Paignton Zoo, tiddlers and bigger folk can make a splash at the town’s Quay West, the largest outdoor water park in the country, then sally forth to Brixham to see the Brixham Buccaneers and the Golden Hind, the full-size replica of Drake’s sixteenth century ship.

Also do a funny walk to Torquay, home of fictional hotel owner Basil Fawlty and the place to head to on a rainy day: critters from all eras are covered at Dinosaur World and the coastal zoo and aquarium Living Coasts, both indoors.

The prehistoric caves of Kents Cavern, a Scheduled Ancient Monument, are a superbly subterranean sight and include a kids’ activity area, cave painting and two themed quests above ground on the woodland trail.

If you’d like to cram as much activity as possible into one area, Dartmoor National Park is the best place to do it: start off with horse riding or pony trekking from one of the several stables or enclosed schools; the park has different areas marked off for different levels of rider.

Buckfastleigh is a heady place to head to as it has the Buckfast Butterfly Farm, Dartmoor Otter Sanctuary and Pennywell Farm, all three probably top of the list for wildlife-wild kids. Pick up the South Devon Railway from here to Totnes and let the offspring loose at Woodlands Adventure Park, a theme park which also has a zoo farm.

More urban(e)ly, historic Exeter and the market towns of Newton Abbot and Ashburton are close to hand too if you fancy some shopping, a dip in Ashburton’s heated outdoor pool or a small flutter at Exeter Racecourse on the Haldon Hills.
