What customers say
Porthilly Meadow is praised for its excellent, peaceful location, a short walk from the beach and local amenities. Guests appreciate the spacious, flat pitches, clean portaloos, and attentive host. Some mention the 50p showers as outdated and inconvenient, and one review noted noise from teenagers. Washing-up facilities and clearer signage for arrival would be welcomed by some. Overall, it's considered a great value, simple site with a 'wild camping' feel.

Beautiful spot near beach, but noisy campers and old showers.
Meadow 2 non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked One of the best things about camping at Porthilly was the unbeatable location. Just a few minutes’ walk from the beach, it couldn’t have been more convenient—perfect for spontaneous strolls, early morning swims, or catching the sunset without needing to plan a thing. The coastline there is truly stunning, with wide open views, soft sands, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it easy to unwind. Everything about the area felt so well cared for—clean, tidy, and clearly looked after with pride. It made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. Luke, the host, was exceptionally helpful too.
Disliked While we really enjoyed our stay at Porthilly, there were a couple of things that took away from the experience. The showers, for one, felt quite outdated—they still run on 50p coins, which was a bit inconvenient, especially when you don't have change to hand. It would be great to see a more modern system put in place. The biggest issue, though, was a group of loud teenagers or young adults camping nearby. The site rules clearly state that such groups aren’t allowed, but unfortunately, they were there during our stay and caused quite a disturbance. They were up until at least 2am being loud and disruptive, and it took a couple of hours before things finally quieted down. It was disappointing, especially in such a peaceful and scenic location. A bit more enforcement of the site’s rules would really help maintain the relaxing atmosphere that makes Porthilly so special.

Liked Beautiful, flat field, very quiet and peaceful, very well kept. Great location, very near coast. Showers just a 5 min walk (you will need 50p coin) . Water and portaloo in the camping field. Pretty little lake with picnic table and lights in the evening.

Lovely campsite
Meadow 1 non-electric grass campervan pitch (large)
Liked We loved this campsite. We booked to stay a few days, ended up staying for a week and would have stayed for longer if we didn’t have to go home. The pitches are really spacious and it’s so peaceful on the campsite. The location is perfect, it’s just a short walk to a beautiful beach, restaurants and a lovely bakers and fish shop. A really special place.
Disliked Nothing.
