  • Well-maintained pitches five minutes’ walk from Porthleven, Cornwall
  • A 10-minute drive to Helston Railway; 15 minutes to Marazion
  • On-site pub; five minutes’ walk to the beach and South West Coast Path
A family-run touring caravan and campsite located about 500 meters from the centre of the historic fishing village of Porthleven, Mill Lane Campsite is a dog-friendly spot with generous-sized, level pitches and plenty of space for all the family. The campsite is a five-minute walk from Porthleven beach, famous as one of Cornwall’s best reef breaks (are you listening, surfers?). It’s also five minutes to the South West Coast Path, making this a great base for long-distance hikers too. Porthleven village hosts the award-winning Food Festival in July, but you can eat in quirky cafes, traditional pubs or fine-dining restaurants – all serving fresh, seasonal food – any time of year. Pick up foodie supplies in the local shops – including delicious Cornish pasties – and there’s a handy supermarket too. And there’s no need to fret about keeping everyone entertained in the evenings. The on-site free house sells the world-famous Cornish ale Spingo, brewed in Helston (10 minutes’ drive), so adults are never far away from a refreshment. For the kids, there’s a pool table in the pub, as well as sport on the big screen and live music throughout the year. Bingo fans can play every Friday evening at 7pm with cash prizes.

What customers say

Mill Lane Campsite is praised for its excellent location, just a short, flat walk into Porthleven. Guests frequently highlight the cleanliness and quality of the hot showers, spacious pitches, and the convenience of the on-site pub. While many highlight the friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere, some reviews mention the facilities, particularly toilets, as dated and in need of refurbishment. Occasional comments touch on road noise and the shared nature of some facilities with the pub.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Excellent location for walking into Porthleven and staff were friendly and relaxed. Community bar on the premises.
No time-out on showers so you didn’t have to keep reactivating it every few seconds. Much nicer.

Disliked Men’s cubicles in toilet small and cramped to enter and leave.
Perhaps a little modernisation for toilet block generally.
Overlooked by residential street

Very friendly and reasonably priced. A few minutes walk to the harbour with its bars and eateries.

Disliked Only cold water at the dishwash station at the time. No biggie.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Very clean.
Brilliant showers.
Great location.
Superb pub as well.
Perfect!!

Disliked The really noisy dog walkers at 9.30am (on Sat morning) in the nearby car park. 15mins of non stop barking.
They had nothing to do with the campsite but their barking was non stop. Ps, I do love dogs.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Close for a flat walk into Porthleven. Hot showers.

Disliked Our given pitch No 3 was already taken. On return to the bar to report this we were told to pitch at 13 (furthest hardstanding from facliities) and the next member of staff would sort the problem as "I don't really work here". No info about site was given to us, and each morning when the staff drove round the pitch in their blue van they never stopped to apologise or ask if we wanted re-siting. We were happy to stay at 13 luckily as it was peaceful. On our final morning of 3, a family had moved in whose dog was roaming free, the blue van did it's rounds and drove around the dog when it got in their way without stopping to discuss with the owners.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Ok campsite, nice shower facilities
Good site though for walking into Porthleven .

Disliked Site not very secure, easy access for general public, we noticed people in the car park using the sites facilities.
No checks on the behavior of people using the site, if we had not been leaving when we did, we would have left anyway - two outfits set up, the very young children were allowed to run around on the site with two small yappy dogs which were always off lead - We experienced the dogs chasing after us whilst we were taking our dog a walk, whilst they were small dogs they snapped at the children when they tried to approach them.
The dogs would have been doing their business all over the site - giving other dog users a bad reputation.
Our concerns were raised with a member of site staff, probably a cleaner, who didn’t appear concerned or bothered.

Waste water disposal unclear, staff member did not know either.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked I’ve just had a lovely 3-night stay at Mill Lane and will definitely be back. The location is spot on – an easy walk down into Porthleven harbour with its great restaurants, cafes and coastal path, but far enough away to feel peaceful and relaxed on site.

The facilities were great – really clean and well looked after. The showers in particular were lovely, with good pressure and plenty of hot water (very welcome after a long coastal walk!). Everything felt safe, well maintained and easy to use as a solo camper.

The staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived, creating a relaxed, family-run feel. Nothing felt like too much trouble.

A real bonus is the on-site pub, Out of the Blue – such a great addition. It’s so nice to enjoy a drink on site in the evening without having to go anywhere. It adds a lovely, sociable atmosphere while still feeling safe and comfortable.

Overall, a fantastic base for exploring Porthleven – great location, great facilities and a really friendly vibe. Highly recommend.

Local attractions

If you’re keen to get out on the water, Porthleven beach (five minutes’ walk) is a fantastic surfing spot, and you can take coastal cruises (try one at dusk for spectacular sunset views) or sea-fishing trips from Porthleven harbour (10 minutes). Meanwhile, at Marazion (15 minutes’ drive) it’s a short hop across the bay to the crag-top castle and gardens at Mount St Michael. Also nearby you could take a ride on the vintage trains of Helston Railway (10 minutes), or splash in the sea at sheltered Gunwalloe Church Cove Beach (20 minutes). There are plenty of family-friendly hikes along the Lizard Heritage Coast (both 20 minutes) and lots of seabirds to spot along the way. And there’s masses of art and culture in these parts too; the galleries and museums of St Ives (30 minutes) warrant a day’s attention, and there are rare plants and wacky artworks to be seen in Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens (20 minutes).
