  • An adults-only site with scenic views and good transport connections
  • A 20-minute drive to Truro and 15 to Cornwall’s north coast beaches
  • Shop and dog-walking field on site; pub and bakery a 20-minute walk
Peace, quiet and not a child in sight… welcome to adults-only Chacewater Park in Cornwall, set in 11 acres of neatly kept tree- and hedgerow-lined grounds to make up a green and serene site. This is a preferred spot of many a dog owner and nature fan too, with a separate five-acre field that's home to rabbits and wildflowers. For human-centred entertainment, amble over to the local village, a 20-minute walk away, to sip pints in the pub, have a go at bowls or take part in one of the monthly quizzes. Both Truro and National Trust’s Trelissick Gardens are within 20 minutes' drive: time your visit to the latter just right to take in a traditional cream tea too… Back at the park, amenities include two separate shower blocks with shaving points and hairdryers, as well as two laundry areas. Fancy resting with a novel? Swap your last pageturner for your next at the book exchange and settle on the grass for a read. For all-essential eats, a bakery, chippy and convenience shop are close by, and supermarkets are less than 10 minutes' drive away in Redruth for a bigger stock-up.

What customers say

This adults-only site is praised for its peace and quiet, friendly staff, and excellent location for exploring Cornwall. Pitches are spacious and well-maintained. Facilities, including showers and toilets, are consistently reported as very clean, though some mention they are dated. The large dog walking field is a highlight for many. Some guests found the WiFi unreliable, and noted limited walking access to the village due to a lack of pavements.

Lower Meadow electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch (no pets, small)

Liked Peaceful, quiet location, spaces between pitches. Flat area. Nice hot water in showers.

Disliked Showers/toilets could do with a slight update. Old style toilets (with a long water flush) and push button taps where the water runs for a while. Whilst having a shower at night the light went out several times so I had to leave the cubicle and go back in so light would come back on. Paid for Wifi

From the manager: Thank you for your review! We are glad you enjoyed our park!

We will look into the lights timing out late at night. The push shower buttons are to stop water wastage by taps being left switched on whilst unoccupied.

We look forward to seeing you again!

Liked The peaceful, friendly site was amazing. I would definitely recommend and definitely return. Sometimes I would turn to my wife and say "listen to that" and she would say "listen to what? I can't hear anything" and I'd say "exactly! Bliss!"

Upper Meadow fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring caravan pitch (medium, pet friendly)

Liked What a beautiful, quiet & friendly site! We highly recommend ☺️

From the large, spaced, neat and well-kept pitches, with individual water & electricity points.
To the spotless on-site facilities that are so clean & well maintained, including the rubbish areas & immaculate toilets/shower rooms!

Dog lovers will find the huge dog walk park a fantastic safe place to let their fur-babies run off steam.
And for those who would rather have some peace away from any 4 legged friends, half the site is strictly for no dogs, with notifications stating ‘no dogs past this point’. So respectful to all visitors, whichever side you prefer.

And such friendly staff who are the most helpful to all visitors! We had a dog fence to put up, which was no problem (even when one mutt did escape 🤦‍♀️), an emergency Amazon order, which was hand delivered to our caravan, & questions regarding local golf courses, WIFI & the electricity allowance.

DO NOT be put off by the possible electricity charges, as the allocated daily amount was more than adequate to run the normal day-to-day caravan use for the entire stay (2 fridges, TV, phones chargers, fan, radio, lights etc).

This is now our new base to stay that is central to both north & south coasts of southern Cornwall, and we are very much looking forward to rebooking!

Thank you for such a wonderful stay! 🤩🥰

Upper Meadow Hay electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch (large, pet friendly)

Liked Well run site with very friendly staff, we spoke to a couple of gentleman working there almost daily and were knowledgeable and very nice, toilets and showers were always clean and tidy, wash up area could do with a bin though. Nice walks to the local Chimneys and mill. Chippy van visits once a week and the chips were good. Dog field is amazing, best ive seen on any campsite, its huge! It also has a tap and dog bowl and poo bin, our dog's were very happy here and the view and sunset from this field was spectacular. Based on this we would be very happy to visit again.

Disliked Very strange that the owner insisted on waking the campsite up at 7.15am twice during our 4 night stay, he would tip a box of glass bottles into the recycling bin with bottles in it causing a very loud crashing sound, we were annoyed at being denied a lie in while on our holidays, it was just bizarre and unnecessary.

Local attractions

Circled by farmland in the centre of west Cornwall, Chacewater Park is in the middle of England’s UNESCO-listed tin mining lands. If you’re coming to this Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape region by public transport, you can easily catch one of the regular bus services from Truro, Redruth, Penzance or St Ives. Driving? The park’s minutes from the A30, meaning the sandy, cliff-backed beaches on the county's north coast, like Portreath, Saint Agnes and Porthtowan, are reachable in no more than 15 minutes. Up for walking? Join the Mineral Tramways Coast to Coast Trail, running from Portreath to Devoran on the south coast, and follow in the footsteps of horse-drawn trams from days gone by. Low-key wanders can be had at Tehidy Country Park, a 15-minute drive to the north, in 250 acres of woodland and lakes with nine miles of trails. To up the pace a little, you can get in a round of golf on the course under 15 minutes' drive away – or ask the site’s friendly staff to help you organise a boat ride on the River Fal.
