St John Inn: On the site

General

  • In a conservation area next to a pub garden on the Rame peninsula
  • Five minutes' drive to the nearest beach; two mins' stroll from a lake
  • A 10-minute drive from Kingsand and Cawsand seaside towns

Breathe in the Cornish air from St John Inn, a small and quiet site surrounded by trees and hedges next to a beer garden in a conservation area a mile from the nearest beach… The pub at this park is run by friendly owners Gill and Rob and stays open from Thursdays to Sundays serving real ale, cider and lager.

What more could you ever need from a traditional boozer, you may ask? Well, there are also regular events such as fish and chip nights, trivia quizzes, music and dancing to get you mingling with other guests...

If you're not feeling so fresh the morning after the night before, take off for Torpoint (10 minutes’ drive) for winding walks along the rather ravishing Rame peninsula or seek out the nearest three-mile stretch of sandy beach (within a five-minute drive) and blow the cobwebs away with a dip.

The site’s also in a prime place for birdwatching being a couple of minutes walk from St John’s Lake, a Site of Special Scientific Interest home to flocks of wading birds and seabirds; more walks are all around too, including along the banks of the River Tamar a short stroll away.

St John Inn has some level and some gently sloping areas, grass pitches, electric hook-up and plenty of room for parking. Toilets and washing-up facilities are at the back of the pub and stay open 24 hours a day. For public transport and supplies, buses stop a mile away at Antony, taxis are available two and a half miles away at Torpoint, and the nearest shop is a mile and a half away at Millbrook.

The pod was nice, comfy, st John's was peaceful and a lovely little town, the staff were brilliant.

    Disliked:

The alarm inside the pod went off 4 times throughout the night and kept my partner and myself awake, inside the pod was very cold through the night and everything including the bed felt damp.

The old timey pub was lovely and cosy. Had a room full of antiques, a gorgeous place. The Pod was minimal but had everything you needed, bed, fridge, kettle.
Toilets and showers were okay, the shower was a nice temperature.
Attached to the pub was a small shop, run on trust, all items had prices on and you leave your money in the pot. Very charming. They had a boat in the camping area which they are planning on making into a camping pod, definitely something to keep an eye on.
