General

  • In a conservation area next to a pub garden on the Rame peninsula
  • Five minutes' drive to the nearest beach; two mins' stroll from a lake
  • A 10-minute drive from Kingsand and Cawsand seaside towns

Breathe in the Cornish air from St John Inn, a small and quiet site surrounded by trees and hedges next to a beer garden in a conservation area a mile from the nearest beach… The pub at this park is run by friendly owners Gill and Rob and stays open from Thursdays to Sundays serving real ale, cider and lager.

What more could you ever need from a traditional boozer, you may ask? Well, there are also regular events such as fish and chip nights, trivia quizzes, music and dancing to get you mingling with other guests...

If you're not feeling so fresh the morning after the night before, take off for Torpoint (10 minutes’ drive) for winding walks along the rather ravishing Rame peninsula or seek out the nearest three-mile stretch of sandy beach (within a five-minute drive) and blow the cobwebs away with a dip.

The site’s also in a prime place for birdwatching being a couple of minutes walk from St John’s Lake, a Site of Special Scientific Interest home to flocks of wading birds and seabirds; more walks are all around too, including along the banks of the River Tamar a short stroll away.

St John Inn has some level and some gently sloping areas, grass pitches, electric hook-up and plenty of room for parking. Toilets and washing-up facilities are at the back of the pub and stay open 24 hours a day. For public transport and supplies, buses stop a mile away at Antony, taxis are available two and a half miles away at Torpoint, and the nearest shop is a mile and a half away at Millbrook.

Please note

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Group bookings of 4 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

Guests under the age of 17 are not allowed on site.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Bookings must not be for more than 14 consecutive nights.

Great flat sheltered pitch, warm pub with friendly hosts and locals. Lovely hot shower in the hut and clean facilities. We stayed warm and dry even during storm Dennis! Even though everyone thought we were barmy we had a wonderful stay, made all the more enjoyable by a drink and a warm by the fire in the evening before heading back to the tent. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to pitch during bad weather.

Lovely little village, great pub and fab hospitality! We loved our time here and will definitely be back. Great to stay onsite at a pub so we could have a few drinks that were very reasonably priced! Unfortunately we did not get chance to eat here but food sounded fab. Hope to try it next time! On night's they do not do food there are pizza and chinese menu's around - you can also have your own disposable bbq! Lovely couple who clearly are very passionate about the pub, campsite and high service.

Just a warning to watch which way your sat nav brings you to this venue... We were taken some weird and wonderful way up one very questionable road in particular - this is in no way criticism of the venue as obviously not their fault but just a heads up!

Wonderful site, Gill, Rob and ALL the locals made us so welcome during our stay. The area is a real gem with fabulous ways to spend the day. Sainsbury’s is local in Torpoint but so are a great butchers and fishmongers so think about where you buy your bbq stuff.

Beers and ciders in the pub are great and the whale and chips on a Friday is.... indescribable (in a good way). Couldn’t recommend it more!!
