Wanting a water-filled weekend in the south of England? Enter Retallack Resort and Spa… less than a 20-minute drive from beaches, this site hosts aquatic antics by the bucketload. It's especially well known for its watersports: not only does it have a wake park and simulated wave rider, but also zorbing and an inflatable assault course for even more to test the mettle on. Or how about spending days in the swanky spa? Drop nippers off at The Den kids’ club, then feel fab after a facial and massage using fancy Elemis products (or just get your nails sorted). A sauna and eucalyptus steam room are on site for all-out R&R and if you’re into your fitness classes or have always fancied having some personal training, the Health Club’s handy as well. Not yet worn out? Finish off the workout sesh with a dip in the indoor swimming pool. All that exercise will leave you with an excellent excuse for indulging in craft pizzas and burgers galore at The Lookout Restaurant & Lounge; if you're cooking for yourself a mini store on site means you can pick up some last-minute bits and bobs. Supermarkets are around a 15-minute drive away in either Padstow or Wadebridge to do the big shop. For easy-going afternoons once the food’s gone down, work on your balance by borrowing a stand-up paddleboard, putter around one of the park’s well-stocked coarse fishing lakes, or sit by the water’s side and angle for your supper. Local attractions

While all the amenities and activities at Retallack Resort and Spa might make it tricky to actually leave, the north western part of Cornwall’s brimming with beaches worth checking out – the golden sands of Bedruthan Steps, Butterhole and Hawker’s Cove are all less than a 20-minute drive away. Along the same section of coast, Trevose Headland is the place to go for windy walks along the Atlantic; the lighthouse right at the tip is 25 minutes from the park. Kids eager for explores? You needn’t go far as the animal petting zoo, rides and 5D cinema of Camel Creek Adventure Park are less than 10 minutes away. Or for animal-centred amusement without getting in the car, the Cornish Birds of Prey Centre is a 15-minute walk from Retallack Resort and Spa in the nearby village of Winnard’s Perch. For surfing and other saltwater sportiness, a 20-minute drive gets you to the beachside adventure hub of Newquay.
