What customers say
This nature-friendly campsite offers a peaceful, back-to-basics experience with spacious pitches, composting toilets, and hot showers. Visitors praised the friendly and knowledgeable owners, local produce in the shop, and the natural setting, close to local attractions. While most found the facilities well-maintained, a few noted issues with shower temperature control and the water pump for washing up. Managers confirmed fixes for the water pump and explained the sustainability approach for washing-up water.

Liked It was as described on the website.
Hot showers, composting toilets, nice large pitches with own firepit.
We had a camper van pitch and the bell tent in the booking, so we were allocated next to the bell tent.
Lovely tasty meat from the local butcher in the shop and good recommendations as to what to do locally.

Liked What a lovely experience! Nickie is such an incredible host and we were well taken care of. The location of the farm is close to lots of wonderful places to visit and again the hostess was happy to provide helpful tips about the lay of the land. Definitely going again and making this into a tradition

Beautiful campsite but extremely hot showers
Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch
Liked Great location with lovely facilities, kids enjoyed using the eco loo’s and getting water from the well. They enjoyed seeing the animals and playing on the park.
Disliked Extremely hot shower with no temp to control. Was too hot for the kids and it burnt my scalp. Painful!

From the manager: Sorry you found the shower too hot. If only you'd mentioned something whilst you were actually here, when you walked past me, I could have turned it down. Also I would always recommend trying the temperature of water with your hand rather than your head.
I did turn it down anyway as the days general temperatures this week were far hotter for this time of year, and actually most of the year, and that had a baring on it. We normally only have compliments about how good the showers are! One can only do something about something if it is reported. Not a lot of point writing about it a week later as it doesn't help anyone.
Glad you enjoyed your stay in the main.

Lovely relaxed campsite near the Eden Projecr. Great for families.
Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch
Liked The campsite was great. Nice sized pitch. Could fit my big tent, gazebo and big car into the space.
The shop is nice, and has a few bits and there is a little playground for the kids.
Nicki is really helpful and relaxed. The composting toilet is well maintained. Nice view. Would stay there again.
Disliked Only two minor points. The drinking water barrel and pump is difficult to use and you have to pump quite hard to get any out and takes ages. It’s also quite loud and when others use it early morning to get water it’s disturbing - it woke me up both mornings.
There is no hot water for washing up, but I guess you could always boil your kettle!

From the manager: Yes it's true guys, when you stay here, you have to boil a kettle if you want hot water to wash up. Being sustainable here isn't a gimmick - we encourage a bit of proper camping, we also watch the amount of water used and the amount of earthly resources it takes to make things hot! So, if you have to to do it yourself, heat the water etc. It's amazing how the amount used correlates to the amount needed, and not more. Much less wastage!
As it goes, we also live like this. If we want hot water, we boil a kettle. Every day, day in, day out - not just a holiday.
Resources are important and need to be respected. Also it's camping! A little self sufficiency is a good thing! You can do it! 😉
We do, however, have hot water in the showers!
Apologies for the water pump. Easier to tell me it's a bit slow than the Internet. I fixed it with a screwdriver!
Hope it didn't put you off too much. Would be nice to see you again. 😊

Liked Tent pitches were spacious, surround by greenery with great views.
The whole site was a quaint, very peaceful, well organised back to basics camping experience.
The owners clearly care about the natural setting of their site and the authentic camping experience.
The shower was reliably hot every time using it, clean and well maintained.
Nikki was helpful and friendly, full of local knowledge.
We'll be happy to stay again, particularly to visit Helman Tor (as recommended by Nikki) what a special place.
Disliked Nothing.
