  • Off-grid eco site in Cornwall, 15 minutes' drive from the coast
  • On the edge of Luxulyan Valley, 10 mins' drive from the Eden Project
  • A 10-minute walk from the Clay Trails walking and cycle paths
Now this one's worth making some noise about… A five-minute drive from the Cornish village of Bugle, Canna Farm is a haven of peace and solitude, only 15 minutes' drive away from the scenic beaches of Saint Austell Bay and under four miles' walk from the famed rainforest biospheres of the Eden Project This simple, eco-friendly base has bags of space, hedgerows, stone walls and long grass, giving a nice sense of privacy, along with individual and communal firepits. Have a chat with the folk on site to order in fab local produce, plus all the kit you need to get a barbecue on the go. The farm is in a canny location for getting out and about too: it's a 10-minute stroll from here to join the Clay Trails, a network of routes linking mid-Cornwall’s mining heritage with top rural scenery and wildlife, and just on the edge of the rather gorgeous Luxulyan Valley (appointed as a World Heritage Site for its mix of scenery and industrial heritage). It's also five minutes to the A30, giving easy access across the county from Bodmin Moor to Land’s End. If you're using public transport, it's about a one-and-a-half-mile stroll to catch buses and trains from nearby villages, Bugle or Luxulyan. Both of the above villages have local pubs with good food and drink, as well as shops selling essentials (should you need something you can't get on site). Bugle has a fish and chip shop and a Chinese takeaway. The 40-minute walk to Luxulyan is along a quiet, scenic road that passes by alpacas and cows; the village pub serves delicious food and drinks and has a skittle alley.

Star bell tent

Liked Beautiful campsite, we enjoyed staying here so much we stayed an extra night. It is in a perfect location to visit east and west coasts. Showers were nice and warm, it has a little shop ( the homemade soap is amazing), a cockerel, two pigs and a lovely owner ⛺️💕

Liked A lovely peaceful off grid campsite with 10 pitches. Composting toilets and a couple of Rain/Spring water showers. An onsite shop selling essentials. Kept clean and tidy by Nicky who looked after us very well. Ideally located for the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Will definitely stay again.

Liked Canna campsite was a lovely quiet spot to stay, a great base for seeing lots of places in Cornwall. Great views and the toilets and showers were clean. The spot size was more than enough for my camper. Perfect place to stay for the Eden Sessions.

Local attractions

Pace yourself and visit the Eden Project more than once for more than one type of adventure: as well as the biodomes to see, there's jumping, swinging, falling and zipwiring all on offer at Eden's Hangloose Adventure. It's half an hour from the site to the Lost Gardens of Heligan, which are a touching tribute to human endeavours as well as a fab horticultural feature to wander around for hours. For watersports and more sedate seaside activities, it's a 15-minute drive to Carlyon Bay and St Austell and half an hour to the popular coastal spots of Par Sands and Pentewan beach. For a different perspective on the sea, make for Charlestown Shipwreck and Heritage Centre (20 minutes) to see a variety of strange stuff salvaged from the waves. If it's clifftop hikes or dunes you're into, link up with the South West Coast Path at Charlestown, or pick it up at Par Sands and walk the wilder spaces of the Polperro Heritage Coast, finishing off with a swim at Readymoney Cove (half an hour by car). Depending on age and tastes, there's plenty of indoor entertainment on offer as well, from tours and tastings at St Austell Brewery (15 minutes), to meeting the feathered inhabitants of the Screech Owl Sanctuary 20 minutes away near St Columb Major.
