  • Quiet back-to-basics site on a working farm in Illogan
  • Golf course, trampoline park and watersports lake within 20 minutes
  • 10 minutes' walk from village pubs and 45 from Portreath beach
A working farm on the edge of a Cornwall village, with easy access to country footpaths and a 45-minute saunter from the beach… the kind of place one could settle in for a lifetime, eh? The folks at Hillcrest Views Campsite certainly think so – the family set up home here over 80 years ago and haven’t budged since. Current owner Amy’s now welcoming guests to share in her tribe’s special spot while making sure it doesn’t lose its peaceful vibe – thus the small site has pleasingly spacious pitches but only basic amenities. Flick through the pics and you’ll note some gorgeous rural views: a fab backdrop for stoking up a barbecue while the kids race about playing games. Admire those views for a bit and you’ll probably think you’re in the middle of nowhere, so it’s pleasing to remember that you’re a mere 10-minute amble from Illogan village and its pub, shops and chippy (plus a pasty shop, of course – a staple in these parts). If you’re doing DIY dins, supermarket supplies for your meals can be picked up in Redruth, 10 minutes’ drive away. You could spend many a day wandering on local trails and beaches, but if you’ve brought the kids it’s handy to know that you’re less than 15 minutes’ drive from all sorts of family attractions, including a castle, a trampoline park and a watersports centre. It’s also just a mile or so to the A30 for those looking to head to more far-flung attractions like St Ives or the Eden Project.

What customers say

This well-maintained campsite offers spacious, private pitches separated by hedges, enjoying beautiful countryside views. Guests consistently praise the immaculate cleanliness of facilities, including hot showers, and the exceptional friendliness and helpfulness of the owners, Amy and Roger. Its location is ideal for exploring Cornwall. Minor suggestions include better site signage and, for some, a desire for a small shop.

Electric optional grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Amy was just delightful along with the site manager (sorry I forgot his name) both were very happy to help.
Each pitch was positioned with a truly picturesque background of fields and farmland.
All pitches are within there own hedged area creating private areas and musk any noise from neighbours.

Toilets were always clean with real showers (not the push for 5 seconds of water flow) family showers were available with spacious room to change, including places to sit down.

Fire pits were available to hire and were cleaned out each morning along with a fresh water fire bucket provided. This was at an extremely reasonable price.

Thank you for a wonderful week in a beautiful setting. Situated in a great postcode close to beaches and the stunning sites that Cornwall has to offer.

Would happily return tomorrow if it was a possibility.

Liked Great set up, most helpful, friendly staff. To date it's my favourite campsite ever, this should be the template for all sites. Also a great location as a base for seeing all of Cornwall's beauty.

From the manager: Wow - Keith! This is such a wonderful reflection and if I'm honest, it is just as much a credit to all of our customers, like yourselves as it is to our small team! Whilst I had an original image 8 years ago of what I would prefer the site to look and function like, being a mother with 2 babies under 2 - all the rest has been built off the back of all the feedback we have received over the years...taking on board what people like and need and rolling with that the best we can each year - little by little - to what it is today! It's been an absolute pleasure to bring it up to today's point and more than anything - being able to share it with such a wonderful array of customers, like yourselves! So, thank you, very much too and we wish you all the best for the rest of your Summer!

From the manager: Melissa this is a pleasure to ready, but most of all that you are enjoying what we have built in our site and for you to enjoy a little piece of what we are so grateful to be able to call home. Not just on the farm but in the lovely area with live in for its nature, easy access and tracks galore to explore! And the new wash bay is going down a treat so I'm really pleased this is now up and running in full swing for you all to benefit from - especially the wonderful conversations that spark up, across the bowls of dishes....
Wishing you a wonderful, rest of your summer and thank you so much for staying with us, we really appreciate your custom.

From the manager: Thank you so much Kevin. The herb garden in particular has been a real treat and a steep learning curve for me! Luckily I have so many customers who also grow their own produce so not short of suggestions on what to try for next year to avoid mainly feeding the local slug community! It's always our pleasure to serve you all the best we can and I'm so pleased you enjoyed the overall, of what we have to offer and the local area. We wish you all the best for the rest of your Summer!

Coming from Redruth, enter Illogan coming up a large hill. At the brow of the hill you will see two chapels opposite one another. Take it slowly here, as the site is 50 yards further on, on the right-hand side opposite a little crossroad sign for Richards Lane. Look out for a concrete lane with central grass verge between two white cottages; this leads up to the site.
