Spitfire Park: Aircraft

General

  • Camping in the grounds of a former WW2 Spitfire base in Cornwall
  • Five minutes' drive from Perranporth; Newquay 20 minutes
  • Parachuting, flying lessons, skid car training and archery

Buckle up for adventure on land, sea and in the air at Spitfire Park, a 400-acre former RAF Spitfire base just off the South West Coast Path near Perranporth, Cornwall.

With spacious grassy pitches for camping in a field next to an old control tower, this site has all sorts of adventurous activities to try out. During your stay, depending on when you're here, options may include parachuting, flying lessons, skid car training, archery, pistol shooting and hangliding; there are also dual-control cars where the over-12s can learn to drive in a safe and laidback environment.

Activities aside, this is a handy place to park yourself: there are modern toilets, showers and washing-up areas for guests to use, as well as a café and a playground. The coast is within easy walking distance and the closest sandy beach is a five-minute drive down the road in Perranporth.

After soaking up some sunshine by the water, head into the town centre for supermarkets, pubs, cafés and souvenir shops. Want to leave the car at home? You can also travel between the site and Perranporth by bus.

Please note

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

If reception is closed on arrival: please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.

Super friendly cafe staff and excellent food, fantastic views and easy access to stunning clifftop walks. Try the breakfasts! Perranporth beach is a stunning clifftop walk away, or a short bus ride. Plenty of aviation history and other attractions at the airfield itself. The facilities and cafe are currently being invested it with upgrades. Would recommend.
