General

  • Quiet site with excellent views and good local walks
  • Pub/restaurant, village shop and play park within walking distance
  • A mile and a half from Perranporth beach

This peaceful Perranporth site is in properly prime position: it's set in spectacular Cornish countryside with first-rate views, and has easy access to Newquay and Truro as well as Perranporth. The nearest beach is a mere mile and a half away.

Reen Cross Campsite is a family-friendly park, welcoming families and couples only (and dogs, as long as they're well-behaved types and are kept on leads at all times while on site, ta). Pitches are large and well spaced out, on a flat camping field of around three acres, so there's plenty of room for the kids – and grownups – to play.

Among the amenities are chemical disposal and facilities for ice pack freezing; new shower, toilet and laundry/washing-up facilities were added in 2017.

Barbecues are allowed if raised off the ground. If you want to sup out, Reen Cross's local village is Goonhavern half a mile away, home of the refurbished in 2013 New Inn.

Lovely quiet site with clean facilities and friendly site manager 25/09/2017

We have just come back from a wonderful weekend in Cornwall. We stayed in the static caravan at Reen Cross Farm. The caravan is a little old but is spotlessly clean, very well equipped and in a lovely spot in the corner of the field. When we were there (22-24 Sept) we had virtually the whole site to ourselves. There are nice toilets and shower facilities available although we didn't need to use them. The small village of Goonhaven is within walking distance where there's a Londis shop and a pub serving food (we didn't eat there so can't comment) and the lovely beach at Perranporth is five minutes drive away. All in all, we had a great time and would definitely recommend this camp site and especially the static caravan!

Reen Cross Campsite is ideal for Families who want to be out of the crowds.
Its just a short drive into Perranporth.
The manager is resident on site and a very cheery and helpful chap.
You do need transport to get to shop for supplies.
We stayed in the Static caravan on site.

    Disliked:

A bit out of the way as we like to be able to walk into Perranporth at night although that didn't spoil our holiday.

Quiet site in a central location

    Disliked:

Facilities are poor with inadequate toilet and shower provision for the number of pitches with no hot water. General access to the site is not sufficient for motor homes and caravans with low hanging trees on main road in resulting in scratches to the Motorhome. No Wifi and no 3G signal.

Lovely little campsite, nice & quiet. The couple running the campsite were very friendly and helpful, couldn't ask for nicer hosts.
Showers in the new block were nice & clean. There is only 2 showers (in the ladies)which at first I thought was going to be a problem but we never had to wait or queue.
There is a family room which was a bonus.
The campsite was kept very neat & tidy.

    Disliked:

The only 2 downsides were that Pitchup.com were showing pictures of a children's play park however when we got there the park was non existent. The owners are planning a new park.
Also the showers were a little hit & miss with the temperature. They are non adjustable showers, however they did keep going hot & cold. Wasn't too bad though & ended up being abit of a game with my boys.

Directions

Reen Cross Campsite is half a mile from Goonhavern. From the A30, take the B3825 towards Perranporth. When you reach the T-junction at Goonhavern, turn left onto A3075 and go straight over the twin roundabouts. Immediately after these roundabouts, turn right at the signpost for Reen Cross. Follow the tree-lined lane to the cross roads where you turn right to see the entrance to the park on your right.

Local attractions

The beaches at Perranporth are less than two miles from Reen Cross Campsite and along with Newquay are a top foamy spot for north Cornwall surfing and kitesurfing. Drop into the tourist office to get discount vouchers for the local surf schools if you'd like to learn how to board.

Perranporth is also home to the gigs and pints of The Watering Hole, the only UK pub to be set right on the sands, and like all the seaside towns around Cornwall has easy access to the South West Coast Path, the spectacular 630-mile trail running from Minehead in Somerset along the Cornwall and Devon coasts down to Poole Harbour in Dorset.

From Perranporth, hike to Newquay in one direction or to St Agnes or Portreath in the other; all places have provisions for pitstops for traversing further should you and your feet wish.

Highly viewsome teeing off at Perranporth Golf Club is about a mile away; horse riding stables within the same distance, and a play park and football field are close to the site.

Within easy driving distance are days out at Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm, Newquay's Holywell Bay Fun Park, the Lappa Valley Steam Railway, and DairyLand Farmworld, the award-winning attraction near Newquay.

  • Lappa Valley Steam Railway (3.8 miles)
