Tower Park Caravans and Camping: Grass pitches

General

  • Peaceful family site five miles from Land's End and stunning beaches
  • Play area, dog exercise field and TV room
  • Five minutes' walk from village with shop, pub and post office

Go west… and then west some more, for the highly stunning scenery around lush Land's End and Tower Park Caravans and Camping, in the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Penwith peninsula.

Land's End is five miles from this scenic site (John O'Groats is 833 miles, in case you were curious), and it's four miles or about 10 minutes by car to Cornish coast and sands at Porthcurno, an award-winning beach overlooked by the fab Minack Theatre. The also-spectacular Sennen Cove and its famed surf is 10 minutes to the west from here. Closer to home, it's a five-minute stroll from the site to St Buryan village, where there's a pub, a shop and a post office.

This is a peaceful and family-run place, among splendid scenery and with plenty of room on accommodation areas and around the site. Facilities include a play area and a TV room, along with well-kept essentials including modern showers and toilets, a launderette and a disabled-access shower room. A small shop and takeaway food are available in high season.

Tower Park welcomes dogs and has an exercise field for four-legged guests.

Very quiet site with large pitches. Excellent views. Local grocery store short walking distance from site.

    Disliked:

Water in showers only warm and kept having to press button to keep on, as only lasted for a few seconds each push. Also, only one block for whole site, which is ok off season, but I can imagine can get very busy in high season. Reception only open for one hour morning and late afternoon, so very little interaction with staff, which was a problem when our electrics tripped, twice on second night there, as it was the mains which went, not in our caravan or our pitch. We’re told they’d let us know what was happening, but never did. Grass left to get over long over most of site.

Nice, sheltered pitch with clean facilities and TV room. Only 5 minute walk to village which has a pub and shop. Pub was fully booked for food so I tried the Thai takeaway at a nearby farm. Idea location if visiting Lands End.

Needs modernisation, push in showers making it very difficult to wash hair, very expensive clothes washing facilities, very out of the way ( couldn’t even walk to local pub)

From the manager...

Thank you for your review, this may cause some confusion.
Just to clarify for future guests, the village with pub, shop, post office, bus stops and church is a five minute walk away from the campsite. It can take longer if you wish to meander, pick some blackberries or sloes from the hedges and stop to say hello to every dog, cow, cat, pony and person that you pass (or is this just me!)
But yes, you can walk to the local pub!

Local attractions

Spend significant time on your west Cornish hol at Porthcurno, the stunning big beach that's rightly famed for its views, fine sands and clean water (if you're a connoisseur of the BBC's Poldark, you may spot that Porthcurno is the body double for Nampara Cove).

There are – but of course – spectacular views from the cliffs above, where you can access the South West Coast Path if you're feeling active, or take in a show at the Minack Theatre if not. Porthcurno's also home to the award-winning Telegraph Museum, an interactive and family-focussed place that tells the tale of how the village was once the most connected area on the planet.

From Porthcurno, it's about 20 minutes' drive to Penzance, 40 minutes to St Ives and half an hour to famed St Michael's Mount, the tidal island just offshore of the town of Marazion. You'll also be within easy reach of outdoorsy pursuits like surfing, fishing, sailing, kayaking, diving and climbing, and among weeks' worth of wildlife watching and birdwatching: dolphins, basking sharks, seals, leatherback turtles, Cornish choughs and peregrine falcons are among the many species to see.

Must see

  • Land's End (4.1 miles)
  • St Michael's Mount (7.0 miles)
  • Tate St Ives (11.3 miles)

National Trust

  • Trengwainton Garden (4.1 miles)
  • Levant Mine and Beam Engine (5.4 miles)
