Tresco Farm: View over the site

General

  • Dog-friendly farm site two miles from the Cornwall coast
  • Several beaches and coastal paths within walking distance of the site
  • Restaurants, café and a pub within 10 minutes’ walk of site

From paddleboarding and coasteering to going for a light paddle alongside a sandy beach…Tresco Farm is a small farm site two miles from the Cornwall coast, five minutes’ drive away from the nearest sandy beach and 10 minutes’ drive away from many more coves, including watersports hotspots, sand dunes and more sheltered spots.

Walk if you wish or perhaps leave the car behind entirely… many of the beaches are within walking distance (Harlyn Bay is a 45-minute walk), as is the local village. Plus, there are plenty of coastal routes on hand in case you’re keen to set off further away on foot. Just grab your walking boots and follow the trails.

On the edge of Saint Merryn (a rather splendid seaside village), the farm is also well-situated if you have pub grub on the brain… conveniently, there are a couple of restaurants, a café and a pub within 10 minutes’ walk of site and more on the outskirts of the village. The closest pub has decking and a children’s play area where they may let off some steam.

As for facilities on site, things are wired towards wild camping, so there’s a portaloo on site and car parking by the pitch. Plus, if your dog is an essential companion on your trip, you won’t have to leave them behind here – as they’re welcome on site.

Please note

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Minimum spacing of 3 metres between pitches.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

From the manager...

Hi Oliver, your review is pretty harsh and concerning. We have taken on the feedback around the toilet and for the next season we plan on increasing the number of toilets on site, to better deal with the amount of campers. My concerns with your review are that you have given us a 4/10 for location, this seems unreasonable considering many love the location of the site and its accessibility to St Merryn and its many beaches. Secondly, a 4/10 for value for money is disingenuous considering we are the cheapest campsite in the Padstow area. Also I am not sure how you have given us a score of 2/10 for customer service, in your review you did not outline any such issues with us, this makes me think that you have not put any thought into this review and are giving poor scores for the sake of it. This low score does not seem right as many of our campers have stated how welcoming we are. I wish you had came and spoken to us while you were here about your issues with the toilet, this feedback at the time would have been extremely helpful.

One portal loo toilet to share between the whole site, no water, deffo a backstreet site to get money from COVID. left to go to a proper site with correct facilities

From the manager...

Hi Wayne, I find your review pretty insulting to be honest. Firstly, there is a freshwater point tap right beside the toilet and shower if you bothered to look, or even ask any of us on site. Secondly, yes we have taken in feedback with the toilet, but you might not know that it is quite difficult to hire portable toilets in the summer in Cornwall, as the demand is unbelievably high with festivals like Boardmasters, etc. going on. Thirdly, as advertised on pitch-up, we are described as wild camping. What you see is what you get with our site, so clearly, you did not do your due diligence when researching for a site that caters to your needs. Fourthly, when you booked with us, we did not even advertise that we had a shower, so it should have been a welcome surprise to you that one was available when you arrived. Fifththy, for you to question our legitimacy as a campsite is very disrespectful, I am not quite sure what you expect? The goal of any campsite or business for that matter is to make money, so your comment is just simply stupid. Lastly, I understand that we are an extremely basic campsite that is not suited for all, that is fine with me, a more basic and wild approach to camping is not everyone's cup of tea. But your review just baffles me.

From the manager...

Glad you enjoyed your stay! We have taken on the feedback about the toilets. Unfortunately the company we hire with are not able to empty our toilets more than once a week, next year we will definitely increase the amount of toilets on site.
