  • Family-friendly Cornish holiday park on Trevose Head
  • A 15 minute-drive from Padstow and half an hour from Newquay
  • Diner, bar and entertainment on site; sandy beaches 20 minutes' walk
With its lighthouse, stunning coastal walks and gorgeous sandy beaches, Trevose Head is something like the Cornish coast in miniature. If you're looking for seaside capers in this area with your nearest and dearest, Harlyn Sands Holiday Park could well be the place. Those coastal strolls and sandy beaches are within walking distance of this park, making it a top-notch spot for a seaside break. The site is family-run and works hard to be a welcoming spot for you and your tribe. Younger kids are well served here, as there's a play area, TV and games rooms and kids' club to keep them happily occupied. In the evening, there are special events for all to enjoy (and a bar is on hand for mums and dads who fancy a nightcap after the show). Harlyn Sands is also a handy kind of place: there's a food shop on site should you need to stock up on essentials. Barbecues are allowed for alfresco dining, but you may prefer to skip the cooking and head to The Diner for a sit-down meal, or pick up a takeaway from the site's chippy. If you need a supermarket, take a 15-minute drive down the road to Padstow. The site makes no secret of the fact that it caters mostly to families (furry friends included), so teens need to be mindful that they don't stay out too late or disturb the peace.

What customers say

This campsite boasts a prime location near beautiful beaches, with friendly staff and a family-focused atmosphere. While many praise the clean facilities, entertainment, and amenities, some guests report dated shower and toilet blocks, and a charge for the swimming pool. Pitch sizes and on-site food quality occasionally draw criticism, but the stunning location is consistently highlighted.

Beach Field Zone 3 electric grass pitch

Liked Fantastic views and location

Disliked Shower block and toilets are not close enough it’s too far especially for the middle of night you will need your own chemical toilet and can’t help thinking when sitting on grass what people are doing in middle of night and what I’m sitting on or touching.
Didn’t like we had to pay additional cost of £5 pp to use pool each time you go.
Could do with a refresh in regards to the main buildings.

Liked Indoor pool some staff members that was nice the area the beach the park is lovely lots of seating.
Good prices at shop and for food.

Disliked The woman in the chippy on site we got bad service and got turned away as she couldn't be bothered to make a pizza with still a hour before closing and her whole attitude she couldn't be bothered to be there.we went swimming twice .Great pools and little slide bit pricey for a family of 4 as its not for long and slide isn't open the whole time.3rd thing was in the changing rooms the locks on the doors needed to be sorted as they are broke and run down .
The showers should be separate not woman and men together as there was a massive long que young teenagers in bikinis and grown men behind so that needs sorting.
The arcades we liked but hardly anything didn't work so my kids was disappointed and no attendant in there to get change and fix thing which would be handy to have a member staff in there at night especially

From the manager: Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you have felt this way about a member of our team. Could you email me some more information about your pizza service (day, time etc) I can then look into this as it is not what should have happened. My email is mart@harlynsands.co.uk. Thank you.

Beach Field Zone 4 non-electric grass pitch

Liked Amazing campsite for the view and how close it is to the private beach, great for fishing and all water activities which is a great plus if visiting, friendly staff too.

Disliked BUT it has to be said that the site is in dire need of updating, it’s very outdated and the toilets are too far away from the tent field, a couple of portaloos are the minimum that should be in there for the cost of pitching and the distance that the main toilet block is from the field.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Very close to the beach, which was good. Nice community feel amongst campers. Bonus of the pool if the weather wasn't as good. Generally dog friendly. Very helpful people on reception and good staff in the chippy!

Disliked Only thing that let it down was one staff member in the shop. She had a terrible attitude from day one unfortunately. On our first day she was complaining about management cutting her hours because she couldn't work the Wednesday. She was rude to us on multiple occasions and it just spoiled it really. She also overcharged me for multiple times.
Also, frustratingly, we were told that first day that we could pay to freeze our ice blocks, which we did over a few days, and then by then was told on the 4th day suddenly that we couldn't freeze them anymore. Thankfully, we had already decided to leave a few days early, as we were bored and it was too hot for the dogs. Had we have been staying the full week, that would have been a problem.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Close to the beach, nice sized pitch, reception is well ran, site layout is clear and easy to follow, mostly dog friendly. Clean and tidy site, there were workers constantly cleaning or repairing things on site which was nice to see.

Disliked They currently have a trial of free showers which was absolutely fine. However when I went the second day I had to queue, again this was fine, the problem was with the lady who worked there repeatedly shouting could everyone please be mindful of people waiting. We were happy to wait, people were in the showers together so it would have taken longer than one shower, we were first in the queue and then another 2 people came and queued, and we were all fine with waiting. It was her shouting repeatedly that was annoying. If they don’t want people queuing that badly then install more showers.

Food in the restaurant isn’t great, my partner had a pizza that was soggy and mushy in the middle, I had steak that was ok. The chip shop was nicer food.

Shop opening and closing times could be better, it was closed at 8pm when we went and didn’t open again until 8am the next morning.

Local attractions

Folk in search of some beach time have come to the right spot, as Harlyn Bay and Constantine Bay can both be reached within 20 minutes on foot. Guarded by the RNLI between May and September, these splendid stretches of sand are hubs for snorkellers and swimmers, and each has its own surf school – mighty handy if you want to learn to board in a safe environment. Padstow (15 minutes' drive) is a fishing town that's quite a draw for foodies seeking fresh, locally sourced products. Whether you fancy good old fish and chips or Michelin-starred dining, you can be pretty sure you'll find it here. Newquay, a major surf resort, is half an hour away. As well as the seafront, head here for buccaneering adventures at Pirate's Quest activity centre, or get up close and personal with marine life at the Blue Reef Aquarium. Just up the coast from Newquay (40 minutes from base) is Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm, home to both fine scrumpy and cute cuddly farm animals. The South Cornwall coast is also within easy reach: drive 40 minutes down through the countryside if you fancy a trip to the Eden Project or St Austell.
