  • Family-friendly site with fishing lakes 15 minutes’ drive from Newquay
  • Mawgan Porth five minutes’ drive; Springfield Fun Park 15 minutes
  • Children’s playground; resident farm animals; farm shop; launderette
Be sure to pack your trusted rod for your stay at Penvose Farm Holidays, a working farm on the edge of Cornwall Airport Newquay, with four coarse fishing lakes where guests can go fishing for half the price charged to outside visitors. Indeed, the best thing (or one of the best things, at least) about staying here is that your loved ones will also have plenty to keep them occupied while you sit by the water, waiting for carp and perch to bite, your canine friend snoozing gently by your side. (There is a small fee for dogs, but they are welcome here, provided they are well-behaved around the livestock.) A children’s playground has a wooden climbing structure, swings and slides; the large grassy meadow is also a top spot for riding a bike or kicking a ball around. Then, of course, there’s the spectacular beaches of North Cornwall. Within a short drive are Mawgan Porth (five minutes), a sheltered sandy triangle at the mouth of the River Menalhyl; and neighbouring Porth Beach and Newquay (both 15 minutes, separated by the rocky Glendorgal Headland). Rockpools line the former, set within a deep inlet, while Newquay is renowned for its surfing waves. The South West Coast Path runs along all of these beaches, and a clifftop hike might lead to vantage points with stunning sea views – or to traditional Cornish pubs where you can stop for refreshments. A small farm shop at the site sells bits and bobs for the barbecue; there are also several supermarkets within a 10-minute drive, not to mention heaps of restaurants in both Newquay and Padstow (25 minutes). Other amenities on site include hot showers, a launderette and a communal freezer.

This is a well-maintained, friendly family-run site with a convenient farm shop. Facilities, including toilets and showers, are generally clean and plentiful. Its location is praised for its proximity to beaches and Newquay, with some guests enjoying the nearby airport for plane spotting. Electric grass pitch

Liked Welcoming staff on reception/in the shop.
Choice of pitch when we arrived.
There was 4 of us with two campers and we were allowed to be on one pitch together, the pitches are 10m x 10m and it’s plenty of room for two camper vans and still had space to relax etc.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Lovely dog walks around the fishing ponds which had a range of wildlife thriving on the many ponds. The well stocked reception and shop with a good variety of quality cornish produce. Friendly and helpful staff. Good facilities on the campsite, very clean and well maintained.

Electric grass pitch (family)

Liked Cleanliness, entertainment, pitch sizes, location and friendliness of staff.

Disliked Patrons were allowed to leave the club area very late in the evening without being asked to be quiet, resulting in some very offensive language being shouted very loudly in the middle of the night.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Clean facilities, friendly owners, nice little shop for simple BBQ food (sausages, burgers, chicken) and the play area was a real bonus for our 2.5 year old

Disliked Couldn't fault it really. As others have said, the airport nearby wasn't really an issue for us. No late/early morning flights when we were there, not sure if the bank holiday would have affected this.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Well maintained site. We stayed for 7 nights and enjoyed our stay. Farm shop on site was very handy and reasonably priced. Facilities were good - an abundance of toilets and showers so you’re not all queuing for one cubicle and pretty clean. Decent pot wash area and outdoor showers. Right by Newquay airport but I wouldn’t let that put you off. Last plane is around 9pm and first is around 8am depending on the day - really not disruptive at all and it’s quite to nice to occasionally watch a plane go by. 5 minute drive to watergate beach and about 10-15 mins to Newquay. Overall great site and friendly staff.
