General

  • Award-winning family-run park with Cornish sea views
  • Heated indoor pool, kids' pool, games room and adventure playground
  • Very clean facilities in modern shower and toilet blocks

Woohoo, all new! Family-run, family-friendly and five-star Newperran Holiday Park near Newquay now has a new heated indoor pool, with a separate heated children’s pool so that small splashers don’t get squashed. Prefer to bask? There’s an outdoor sunbathing terrace here too.

Small fry also get a separate toddlers’ area in the Newperran adventure playground, and for rainy days for all sizes there’s a big games room on site with video games and pool tables. A skate park for the kids was added in 2016.

Newperran is a spacious site, in an elevated position over the Cornish countryside with sea views in the distance. It has spankingly clean facilities in its four up to date toilet and shower blocks, with individual shower cubicles, shaver points and hairdryers as well as disabled facilities and a family room with baby bath built in.

There’s also a large launderette, basics for sale at reception, and the Cottage Inn restaurant, open in school holidays, for filling up at.

Please note

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

    Not much!

    Disliked:

At the time of booking (less than 2 weeks before arrival) it wasn't made clear that not all facilities would be open. There was no restaurant service apart from weekends and no bar. Only one toilet block was open and there were only a few functioning lights and these sometimes went off halfway through showering. The Ladies toilet and shower block only had one washing and toilet cubicle with a soap dispenser. The 'free' wifi is non-existent. I could not get a signal all the time we were there.

Located between Newquay and Perranporth just 5 minutes off the A30, we find it an ideal base for visiting all tourist spots/attractions anywhere in Cornwall, and you are assured of a warm welcome by the friendly owners and friendly staff. The site is safe and secure with ANPR automatic entry and exit barriers and CCTV monitoring of the park. There's lots to keep the kids entertained with climbing frames, swings and slides etc. The large skateboard park is second to none, and I think it the only one on a camping site in Cornwall. The indoor heated pool is fantastic and lovely and warm, although you must supervise your own kids that are under 16. The park is spotless, and pitches are huge, located around the perimeter of the large fields with great views of the countryside and the coast. Most have electric hook ups, and their are loads of serviced pitches, with some been all weather. The facilities are fantastic, laundrette, restaurant (Sunday roast to die for) and the cottage inn bar. All are spotlessly clean, as are the modern toilet/shower blocks with washing up sinks with free hot and cold water. The shop is located in the reception area and sells such product as Bacon, eggs, milk, bread and cakes etc. Their is free wifi on site, but due to the location of the site, and no super fast BB available yet, it can be a bit slow if lots are using it, but it is free, so no complaints. We've been coming to this site for over 30 years, and would highly recommend it.

Shower, washroom, toilets very modern and clean, waste water and drinking water near by. For campers

Scooter park for kids very good.
    Heated pool. Good
    Restaurant, and pub on park
    Chemical waste on park
    Rubbish area on park

    Disliked:

I paid the extra money to get all the facilities. Scooter park was open, pool was open, no life guard, for anybody haveing difficulties in the water, cctv at pool side what use that would don't know. Restaurant, closed, pub closed, maybe open Friday and Saturday, shop was a shelf in reception selling bread and milk, what I was most angry about rubbish area was a10 minute walk one way, saw one guy going down in is car, arm out of is car window holding rubbish, this is a very big park, the is only one chemical place to empty your toilet cassette from your van or motor home so make sure you a trolley it's a hell of a walk, didn't like the idea, of the barrier very you come in, having to use the phone. So no,I will not return to this park. Has the manager said, it's at is discretion whats open. Regardless what we pay for 7 nights

From the manager...

You didn't pay extra money to get all the facilities, you paid for, at your request, was an upgrade for your motor home to go from NON electric TO electric. Bins 10 minutes walk, no, 3½mins from Hayle 2 to the actual Bins, timed at a leisurely pace. Anyone reading this can do the same if on the park. CCTV accepted by law as our pool does not require a life guard, it’s not deep enough. All camera surveillance is connected to my computer and I act accordingly if anything serious should go wrong, it never has, there's also has a push button alarm. When you arrived, your wife informed me your registered disabled and needed to be near the toilet block. I offered Edmonton No 8, right by the disabled toilet and 4 pitches away from the Chemical disposal but you wanted Hayle 2 where you stayed for the duration. Hayle field is the other side of the park. You never paid the electric of £29.75 when you arrived. A number of days after, I had to go over to your pitch and ask you for it but you started to complain about the noise from the seagulls and that they ripped the black bin bag you left outside your motor home and you had to pick up all the rubbish, you then complained about the rubbish bins not being in the fields. I said, the experience you have had this morning, was ongoing when we had the bins in the fields, hence we took the bins away, even though the bins had lids, not everyone would close them. You didn't seem to grasp this at all. The Barrier, you had your big motor tricycle as well as your motor home, which by the way, you never put down on your Pitch Up booking but out of goodwill we didn't charge you for it. Your tricycle has a number plate on the back, not the front, you need to use the phone, you could have been issued with a fob, but you were not interested. Lastly, you have contradicted yourself in your review above. You liked everything including the chemical waste and the Rubbish area ???? Then disliked the chemical waste and rubbish. That’s weird. However, I am glad that your disability did not hinder you walking to the chemical disposal point over the other side and you had the weather to enjoy your motor tricycle every day. Next time, read through Pitch Up Terms and Conditions of each park you wish to holiday at or even easier, ring up and ask about amenities.

Local attractions

There’s plenty to please penny pinchers here: the team at Newperran have negotiated discounts for coarse fishing at the nearby lakes; green fees at Perranporth's 18 hole golf course; horse riding at Reen Manor and surf lessons nearby for beginners, with discount vouchers available for the two big theme parks in the area, Flambards and Crealy Adventure Park.

Take the pennies saved along to shop in the cathedral city of Truro eight miles from Newperran: the Pannier Market is the biggest in the area and farmers’ markets are at Lemon Quay on Wednesdays and Saturdays as well as food, drink, art and craft fairs held on the quay on various Saturdays.

Newquay is even closer than Truro – about five miles away – and Perranporth beach is just two miles away; both are top surfing beaches and surf schools and surf shops are on hand for the newly wetsuited.

If you prefer messing about on land, there’s plenty to do out of the water too: most Cornish villages have flower and music festivals at some point in the summer and there are carnival and regatta weeks regularly held in the bigger towns. From Newperran you’ll be within easy driving distance of most of the top attractions of this part of Cornwall such as the Tate Gallery at St Ives, the clifftop Minack Theatre at Porthcurno and, going north, King Arthur’s haunt Tintagel and the prettiness of Port Isaac.

Sticking closer to Newquay, it’s not all about the surf: Newquay Zoo and its hundreds of species is tickety-boo for a family day out and the award-winning DairyLand Farmworld is right on for rainy days with a humongous indoor play area alongside tractor rides, a nature trail and farm animals.

Fisher folk can get their hook on at shoals of sea, lake and river fishing around Newquay and Cornwall: as well as the discounted coarse fishing near Newperran Holiday Park, we recommend angling for some time fishing from Newquay Harbour where there are also boats for hire and sea safari trips to see the Newquay grey seals.

Or just pack a picnic and take to your feet for hikes and strolls around the Cornish countryside and coast: start from Newquay’s Trenance Gardens and meander along the River Gannel to Crantock; hike the headlands from Newquay Golf Club, or take a promenade from Perranporth to St Agnes to take in some mining history. The South West Coast Path has a 12-mile walk Newquay to Perranporth crossing famous Fistral Beach.
