General

  • Spacious site near the centre of Cornwall
  • Easy access to the beaches of the north and south coasts
  • Pubs, restaurants and shops all nearby

Gno what? If you fancy a friendly, clean and quiet campsite in the open countryside of Cornwall, a short drive from the north coast's fab surf at Newquay and with a National Nature Reserve on the doorstep, you should give scenic Gnome World a whirl.

The seven-mile Goss Moor Trail is opposite the park for easy ambles or bike rides along its flat terrain, part of the Goss Moor National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest for a spot of wildlife watching a quick walk from your pitch.

By car, the beaches of Newquay and the north coast – Mawgan Porth, Crantock, Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach – are within a few minutes' drive, and the ports and coastline of the south, such as Mevagissey and Fowey, not much further.

There's plenty of room on this spacious site for family games, alongside a well-equipped play area for little imps, a well-maintained toilet and shower block with disabled facilities near the touring and camping field, and a token-operated launderette.

Pubs, convenience stores and restaurants are within walking distance and a shop is also on site to pick up essentials – yes, you can buy your own gnome here to take home…

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

The location of gnome world was brilliant very central to everything we wanted to do, wonderful clean facilities and very happy welcoming staff, even though the shop wasn’t officially open yet as out of season, it was very kindly opened up for us to buy a gnome ;) all in all a very cheap and cheerful stay.

Superb caravan, very clean and everything you could wish for 10/10 for accommodation, The site, again very clean, neat and tidy.
Site very near the A30 ideal base for seeing all that Cornwall has to offer.
If your looking for a base to travel around, you won't go far wrong staying here.
On site shop was closed, but just up the road is a well stocked garage selling everything you could possible need and a co op 5 minutes drive away.
Noise from A30 might bother some if your lucky enough to live in the country, but after a few days you don't notice it.
Would i stay again, yes, excellent site, clean, comfortable and safe.
Thank you gnome world for a wonderfull relaxing holiday, First class.

Reviewer's country: United Kingdom Tim C. Confirmed

  • Non-electric grass pitch

  • Liked:

Heated clean facilities - not large but certainly well loooked after. The pitch was clean and the grass recently mown so even though it rained more than I would have liked my shoes didn't get too wet. The site was very quiet on the week I stayed probably due to the poor weather that week (just me and one other lone camper) so I can't say what the site is like in peak season.

    Disliked:

The camping field is one large open field. During the windy weather it might have benefitted from a hedge or two.

Local attractions

Gnome World is peacefully placed away from the main tourist trail of Cornwall, but cunningly sited for easy access to all the best attractions of the county's north and south. The Crealy Great Adventure Park and Newquay Zoo are both less than seven miles away.

We'd recommend a week each if poss at the beaches of the north and then the south: at the north, head for the world-famous surfing beaches of Newquay including Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach, both of which have surf shops for kit hire and lessons.

If you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths, Porth beach, also at Newquay, doesn't allow surfing in the summer season so has a quieter family feel.

To the south, Mevagissey and Fowey are both popular ports with visitors, Mevagissey for its historic harbour and Fowey for yacht spotting and a trip on the passenger ferry to Polruan or back to Mevagissey.

On land, there's loads to do too, like exploring Cornwall's old tin mines, part of a World Heritage Site or having a Cornish pasty and ice-cream in every old fishing village dotted along the coast.

Seafood should be sampled in Padstow and art in St Ives too, or spend a day at Cornwall's best known attractions, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, both easy to get to from Mevagissey and Fowey.

If you fancy a flight, take a helicopter ride to the beaut Isles of Scilly from Newquay.

Must see

  • Lappa Valley Steam Railway (6.1 miles)
  • Cornwall's Crealy Great Adventure Park (6.2 miles)
  • Newquay Zoo (6.7 miles)

National Trust

  • Trerice (5.4 miles)
  • Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps (7.3 miles)
