  • Spacious family-friendly resort close to Cornwall’s northern coast
  • A 15-minute drive from Newquay’s Watergate Bay and Fistral beach
  • Pools, pub, café, activities, playground and gym
Bag your family a break near swimming coves and surfing waves on Cornwall’s north coast with a stay at Atlantic Reach Resort, a site set 15 minutes' drive away from Newquay’s Watergate Bay, Fistral Beach and Lusty Glaze Beach. This niftily located park is also close to the main A30 road for touring the area’s kid-friendly attractions, like the Screech Owl Sanctuary and the Lappa Valley steam railway (10 minutes' drive), and is chock-full of facilities to keep the kids busy (like splashing in the indoor and outdoor pools). Got any get-up-and-go left after chasing small guests around the playground for hours on end? Stroll over to the modern gym and sign up for one of the 80 classes running per week. There are extra activities that guests can book on site during their stay, like segway adventures, laser tag games and, in the summer months, a huge slip and slide ride. If just reading about all these activities has you wanting to dive under the duvet, not to worry – the site is designed for chillouts too with spacious, open grounds to rest in the open air, a café serving barista-brewed coffee for a calming morning cuppa and a pub selling food as well as drinks for relaxed family meals.

What customers say

This campsite offers spacious pitches and a good range of family-friendly facilities, including swimming pools and play areas. Many visitors praise the friendly staff, clean amenities, and convenient location for exploring Cornwall. However, some reviews highlight issues with dated facilities, inconsistent cleanliness in certain areas, and occasional problems with the swimming pool booking system. Improvements to the bar, restaurant, and poolside areas are reportedly underway.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked * Friendly Staff: A big thank you to the gentleman who stayed until 7:30 PM to accommodate our late check-in after we were stuck in traffic. Great customer service and very much appreciated.

* Camping Pitch: Spacious, scenic, and well-maintained grass pitch. The electric hook-up was easy to use and everything was in good condition.

* Basic Facilities: Toilet and shower blocks were located a short distance from the pitches. Toilets and showers were reasonably clean.

* Washing-Up Area: Dishwashing facilities were straightforward and functional. Laundry facilities were available - £11 for 18kg wash and £3.50 for dryer.

* Indoor Pool: Quite small and very basic. My child is a keen swimmer, but we chose not to use it due to the lack of appeal for younger kids.

* Gym: One of the better aspects of the site. Modern, clean, and appeared well-used (even by off-site users).

* Location: Newquay is about a 15–20 minute drive. A lovely area, but not walkable unless you’re prepared for a 2-hour each way trip on foot

Disliked Areas for Improvement:

* Shower Changing Space: The changing area in the shower block was extremely limited. Even my toddler struggled with the small space, and it was very hard to keep clean clothes dry despite the shower curtain.

* Family Bathroom Access: Family facilities were locked and appeared to require a RADAR key. There was no information provided about how to access them, which made them essentially unusable.

Main Disappointments:

* Facilities Closed: Despite the website stating that site facilities are open May–September and the park itself remaining open through October, nearly all on-site attractions were closed during our stay at the end of September:
* Mini golf – closed
* Food hut – closed
* Slip & Slide - Closed
* Segway - Closed
* Outdoor pool – expected to be closed (seasonal), no issue

* Pub – opened at 4pm, but was taken over by a loud children’s birthday party with many off-site guests, making it hard to find a peaceful space

* Arcade – extremely dated, felt like it hadn’t been updated since the '90s
* Laser tag – appeared open but again seemed taken over by the birthday party guests

* Playground Safety: Pete’s Pirate Playground had a large approximately 2ft deep hole in the ground where it looked like a tree had been removed and not replaced or made safe. A real concern, especially for families with small children.

The camping facilities themselves were okay, and the staff we spoke to and dealt with were lovely. But beyond that, the site failed to deliver on what was advertised. Most of the key amenities were closed, and there was little to keep a young child entertained on-site. Had we known the majority of facilities would be unavailable despite it still being within the advertised open season, we would have chosen a different site better suited for families.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Location/cost

Disliked Site was very very tired with very limited maintenance having been carried out. Toilets & showers (fistral field) were old. It said free WiFi but connected to WiFi with “no inter access” so had to pay for tv WiFi via avtex which was really annoying. Pitches we were on was muddy, again with limited maintenance having been done since last occupied

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (large)

Liked Swimming facilities were decent

Disliked Put us on a pitch (f12) right next to the slip and slide public car park and it was awful, had music blaring all day and random people walking past the tent constantly. Didn't feel good with two small kids and actually left a day early as a direct consequence of this

From the manager: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience and that your stay did not meet expectations. While we’re glad you enjoyed the swimming facilities, we regret the issues you encountered with your pitch allocation and surroundings. Your comments about the park’s upkeep and the location of pitch F12 are very valuable, and we’ll be reviewing this closely with our team to prevent similar experiences for future guests. We do hope you might consider giving us another chance so we can provide the relaxing and enjoyable stay you were looking for.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked We arrived late and did not see much of the site, so we only used the toilet and shower facilities that were clean.
Would be great value for money staying on site had we used more of the facilities.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Nothing. We found this park to be very dirty and unloved. The chemical waste area was really bad, not even a water outlet. The waste bin area was dirty and even nappies over the floor. Toilet and shower, use your own. Swimming pool was the only nice thing.

Disliked Motorhome services area. Walking around just is very messy and dirty. This site is not well kept!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback, Marcus. We’re very sorry your stay did not meet expectations, particularly regarding the motorhome services area and site cleanliness. Your comments are taken seriously, and we’ll review them to make improvements. We appreciate you highlighting the pool as a positive.

Liked Nothing

Disliked Bins over flowing and rats near by. Showers not fit for purpose. Outdoor and indoor pools filthy. Shop and reception shutting because a lot of people went home still August. Nice showers been locked up so cannot use. No lighting at chemical disposal. Arcades and pub run down. Waterlogged pitches.

Local attractions

Look to the local area for animal attractions: the Screech Owl Sanctuary (10 minutes' drive) invites visitors to see all sorts of birds being rehabilitated. There are also creatures to pet at the Camel Creek Family Adventure Park (15 minutes) – plus rides and a 5D cinema – and underwater specimens to gaze at in Newquay’s Blue Reef Aquarium (20 minutes). While you’re here, it would be remiss not to veer towards some of the finest surfing beaches in Cornwall: head to Watergate Bay and Fistral beach (15 minutes) with a board in tow to channel your inner Californian or just bring the kids for some sandcastle-building and paddling sessions. Nippers generally also appreciate rides on the Lappa Valley steam railway, starting from 15 minutes away and ending at the East Wheal Rose leisure area, and are pretty fond of jaunts around Newquay Zoo (15 minutes). Adults, meanwhile, tend to prefer making a beeline for places like Healey's Cornish Cyder Farm (20 minutes) for obvious reasons…
