Atlantic Reach Resort: Camping

General

  • Spacious family-friendly resort close to Cornwall’s northern coast
  • A 15-minute drive from Newquay’s Watergate Bay and Fistral beach
  • Pools, pub, café, entertainment, playground and gym

Bag your family a break near the best swimming coves and surfing waves on Cornwall’s northern coast with a stay at Atlantic Reach Resort, a 15-minute drive from Newquay’s Watergate Bay, Fistral beach and Lusty Glaze beach.

This niftily located park is also close to the main A30 road for touring the area’s kid-friendly attractions, like the Screech Owl Sanctuary and Dairyland Farm Park (10 minutes' drive), and is chock-full of facilities to keep the kids busy (like splashing in the indoor and outdoor pools).

Got any get-up-and-go left after chasing small guests around the playground or watching them jump up and down on the trampolines for hours on end? Stroll over to the modern gym and sign up for one of the 80 classes running per week. There are also Segway adventures to take part in here, plus the on-site surf school will help you master the waves at the coast.

If just reading about all these activities has you wanting to dive under the duvet, not to worry – the site is designed for chillouts too with spacious, open grounds to rest in the open air, a café serving barista-brewed coffee for a calming morning cuppa and a pub selling food as well as drinks for relaxed family meals.

Great campsite with large level pitches with water and electric …27/09/2021

Great campsite with large level pitches with water and electric hook up. Really clean showers and toilets, which were cleaned frequently through the day. There was also a family bathroom with a bath (something I have never seen on a campsite before). All resort staff were really friendly and extremely helpful. The original Manor House is now a lovely pub (with pool table) and restaurant. The food was excellent and can highly recommend, the drinks were a little on the pricey side. The outdoor pool area was lovely and clean, although the weather was too cold for us to use. The indoor pool was really warm but despite booking a time slot on line, was overcrowded.

    Disliked:

The indoor swimming pool was lovely but very over crowded, despite having to book a time slot on line. I counted at least 50 people/children in at the time we attended, which is a lot for a small pool.

I think if there was an option for 4.5* then I would choose that but overall I think Atlantic Reach do deserve a good rating.

We have done 3 nights with camper van out of season.

Price per night was great for the facilities.

Staff were without fail extremely friendly. On arrival, being shown to our pitch, in the restaurant at the pub people went over and above.

Food was great, we ate at the pub 2 nights and always invited family and friends and all the adults said how amazing the food was.

Toilets and shower block was really good facilities generally.

Pool use included was great for the kids. And the little on site park was good fun.

    Disliked:

    Only small downsides;

Asked on night one about the opening hours of the take away service and clarify if that the same all days. Plan on when we will do this. Get all set with the kids for takeaway only to be told that they had already closed up and that they don't serve as late on a Sunday. Really gutting for our last night 😢😢 you could easily resolve this with just advertising the opening hours, turns out your staff would clearly also find this useful. On the plus note (which has saved the 5* rating) is that the member of staff kindly cooked up chips so at least the kids didn't go hungry.

Hairdryers were a bit naff. I used the showers (which although very nice and clean are frustrating as water only runs for 10 secs off a push) and went to dry my hair and after about 20mins (shoulder length hair) I gave up and left still very much damp. Only 1 of the 2 was I service and it wasnt exactly much use. The one in the pool changing rooms is the same.

Kids menu at the pub is extremely limited. Your choices are sausage/nuggets/fish with chips. I didn't really want to give the kids chips each night, would be nice to have a spag bol on there for them or the option to swap for mash or rice etc. I think for £6.50 per child that there should have been more available.

Promised the kids ice creams from the shop as we had seen the first earlier that day. Walk there to find that the only options are ice poles or calippos. Kids are luckily fine with that but I must admit I was looking forward to an ice cream for pudding so was a bit gutted to not find a single option of ice cream 😢

Not really dislike.... Just thought they could place Cork mats to step out onto from shower so you don't stand on dirty floor.

The really helpful friendly staff. Clean facilities that keep getting added to every year. Very handy location.

    Disliked:

There is only 1 way that you’re aloud to pitch your tent. Which can be a bit annoying but they say it is down to fire regs so it is what it is. I would prefer to pitch anyway considering I’ve paid for the pitch. Also no fires aloud

Our pitch was very muddy from the amount of use. Luckily it was dry so easy to clean. If it were wet we would have covered the carpet with mud having young children.

The shower and toilet block was the cleanest we have ever been to. Pitch size was great. Staff super friendly. Easy to book swimming (just be prepared to get changed in front of people as no cubicles). It was very quiet and the site over all was very clean.

    Disliked:

Only things I would say which didn't ruin the holiday but just thought I'd mention the outdoor pool tiles looked a bit dirty, the sun lounges obviously hadn't been cleaned in a while as had a layer of dirt. The shop is very tiny and we felt that maybe a kids park in the camping area would be great but otherwise couldn't find any major faults and would recommend. It's the best and cleanest park we have been camping at.

We were abit hesitate after reading the reviews but we had a lovely time with our 4 young children.
There's a little play park for the kids, outdoor swimming pools and indoor. The boys absolutely loved swimming.
Manor House pub is on site and has entertainment for all.
Small shop if you're in desperate need of essentials and a lovely cafe, the pizza was delicious!!
About a 15/20 minute drive to town which has loads of shops, aldi and asda.
Abit of updating needed here and there but not a massive deal breaker.
Staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Would reccomend and stay again 😀

Local attractions

Look to the local area for animal attractions: the Screech Owl Sanctuary invites visitors to see all sorts of birds being rehabilitated, while the Dairyland Farm Park lets kids ride the ponies (both 10 minutes' drive). There are also creatures to pet at the Camel Creek Adventure Park (15 minutes) – plus rides and a 5D cinema – and underwater specimens to gaze at in Newquay’s Blue Reef Aquarium (20 minutes).

While you’re here, it would be remiss not to veer towards some of the finest surfing beaches in Cornwall: head to Watergate Bay and Fistral beach (15 minutes) with a board in tow to channel your inner Californian or just bring the kids for some sandcastle-building and paddling sessions.

Nippers generally also appreciate rides on the Lappa Valley steam railway, starting from 15 minutes away and ending at the East Wheal Rose leisure area, and are pretty fond of jaunts around Newquay Zoo (15 minutes). Adults, meanwhile, tend to prefer making a beeline for places like Healey's Cornish Cyder Farm (20 minutes) for obvious reasons…
