  • Spacious family-friendly resort close to Cornwall’s northern coast
  • A 15-minute drive from Newquay’s Watergate Bay and Fistral beach
  • Pools, pub, café, activities, playground and gym
Bag your family a break near swimming coves and surfing waves on Cornwall’s north coast with a stay at Atlantic Reach Resort, a site set 15 minutes' drive away from Newquay’s Watergate Bay, Fistral Beach and Lusty Glaze Beach. This niftily located park is also close to the main A30 road for touring the area’s kid-friendly attractions, like the Screech Owl Sanctuary and the Lappa Valley steam railway (10 minutes' drive), and is chock-full of facilities to keep the kids busy (like splashing in the indoor and outdoor pools). Got any get-up-and-go left after chasing small guests around the playground for hours on end? Stroll over to the modern gym and sign up for one of the 80 classes running per week. There are extra activities that guests can book on site during their stay, like segway adventures, laser tag games and, in the summer months, a huge slip and slide ride. If just reading about all these activities has you wanting to dive under the duvet, not to worry – the site is designed for chillouts too with spacious, open grounds to rest in the open air, a café serving barista-brewed coffee for a calming morning cuppa and a pub selling food as well as drinks for relaxed family meals.

What customers say

This is a large, well-equipped site with friendly staff and a range of activities for families, including swimming pools and playgrounds. Pitches are generally spacious and clean. However, several reviews mention dated or poorly maintained facilities, particularly shower blocks, and some experienced noise issues. Booking for pools can be difficult.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Nothing. We found this park to be very dirty and unloved. The chemical waste area was really bad, not even a water outlet. The waste bin area was dirty and even nappies over the floor. Toilet and shower, use your own. Swimming pool was the only nice thing.

Disliked Motorhome services area. Walking around just is very messy and dirty. This site is not well kept!

Disliked Bins over flowing and rats near by. Showers not fit for purpose. Outdoor and indoor pools filthy. Shop and reception shutting because a lot of people went home still August. Nice showers been locked up so cannot use. No lighting at chemical disposal. Arcades and pub run down. Waterlogged pitches.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked slip and slide and inflatables on site was the only good thing about this campsite.

Disliked Worst campsite we’ve ever stayed on, and we’ve stayed on alot over the last 10 years. Please save your money and avoid, unless you like wasting money on holidays!

Initially booked this campsite due to the outdoor and indoor pool. We’ve stayed at Monkey Tree and Hendra prior to this and wanted to give this campsite a go, especially with the slip and slide on site too. First of all check in is so late, 3pm. So the pitch is sat empty for 4 hours before you can get on, day wasted. The indoor pool was fully booked for the first few days so we booked the outdoor pool. Walked down to it and it was absolutely vile! Bugs, wrappers and debris lingering, no filters running and looks green! Nobody was swimming in it and we could see why, we turned straight back around. Everything is run down. Booked on to the indoor pool, no changing rooms and an older male walked straight in ( accidentally due to no doors from the swimming pool! ) on my 12 year old daughter getting changed. We had to get changed in the dingey toilet next to it to ensure it wouldn’t happen again. I found this utterly disgusting. Indoor swimming pool is dull, dated and dirty. The amount of hairs that I had wrapped around my fingers during a 20 minute swim is vile. Sauna room was the only good thing about the leisure club.
Toilets/showers are beyond horrific, I have never had a shower in a campsite and felt dirtier after than before I went in. The ick from the shower curtain touching you is traumatic. The shower drain blocks and you’re stood in 3” of mucky water, I had to shower with crocs on! There is a newer shower block which we found half way through. however Atlantic reach locked these up on the 1st September when half of the campsite left so I only got to enjoy one clean shower for the whole stay. Never ever stayed anywhere where they lock up showers and toilets! Especially not the ones that are fit for purpose. Shows exactly what kind of campsite they are running and how much they care about the families spending money with them. They know exactly which showers are maintained and which aren’t.
They also don’t open reception or the shop after August 31st, school holidays still bare in mind. Nipped over 3 times on Monday 1st September for milk, not a sole in sight. Rung up to ask when it was opening and the staff let us know it’s closed now until Friday! No notification of this in person, or online. So be warned if you’re in a motor home with an awning and don’t have a car to drive to the shop. It’s a long bus drive for milk! The shop accommodates the slip and slide, doesn’t sell much really other than quick snacks and drinks, nothing you can cook. Rats behind the bins on Fistral field, next to our pitch. Had to ring for the bins to be emptied as they were overflowing. No lights at the chemical disposal area so absolutely not fit for purpose emptying on an evening. Pitch was waterlogged after rain, whole awning floor was drenched. Nothing is looked after at all, it’s such a run down, grimey campsite.
Couldn’t get out of the main gates on Monday 1st either, had to drive all the way around the campsite as the barriers were down. Obviously due to no staff on. Please avoid Atlantic reach if you want a nice holiday, we ended up spending over £100 booking hendra for 2 days swimming so we had clean facilities, on top of paying over £300 for this campsite which was mainly booked for the purpose of swimming. We really wish we would have read the reviews on here prior to booking, so hopefully we can save other families some money. The slip and slide is the only things good about this campsite, and worth its money, but that can be done on a day trip!

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Not much really

Disliked Pitch was overgrown & quite considerably smaller than those around us. Pools were dirty, toilets and showers also dirty, the wood shed one being the worst even had black mould. The older receptionist was quite rude. Paid for WIFI but it didn't work , couldn't find IP address but had 3 bars, flats / cottages looked like an old council estate, paths not fit for purpose. we left 2 days early

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Good size pitches lots of activities for the children campsite it self is very clean friendly staff. Easy reach of Newquay and other well known beaches.

Disliked The 3:00pm check in is rather later when you have a tent to put up.
Toilet while they are cleaned morning and evening could do with an upgrade.
Our electric box was behind our tent but the other pitch required a extra long power cable

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked We had a wonderful holiday here. The people were all friendly, it was easy to access all of the activities. It was definitely worth booking the slip and slide as my kids loved it. It’s in easy access of great beaches.

Disliked The only addition I would add is the outdoor pool really needs some work as do the toilets. I have Crohn’s disease so I was able to use the disabled toilets and they were far superior. They were constantly cleaned several times a day when we stayed peak season and a bank holiday.

Local attractions

Look to the local area for animal attractions: the Screech Owl Sanctuary (10 minutes' drive) invites visitors to see all sorts of birds being rehabilitated. There are also creatures to pet at the Camel Creek Family Adventure Park (15 minutes) – plus rides and a 5D cinema – and underwater specimens to gaze at in Newquay’s Blue Reef Aquarium (20 minutes). While you’re here, it would be remiss not to veer towards some of the finest surfing beaches in Cornwall: head to Watergate Bay and Fistral beach (15 minutes) with a board in tow to channel your inner Californian or just bring the kids for some sandcastle-building and paddling sessions. Nippers generally also appreciate rides on the Lappa Valley steam railway, starting from 15 minutes away and ending at the East Wheal Rose leisure area, and are pretty fond of jaunts around Newquay Zoo (15 minutes). Adults, meanwhile, tend to prefer making a beeline for places like Healey's Cornish Cyder Farm (20 minutes) for obvious reasons…
