General

  • Peaceful and private park in a Cornish valley
  • A few miles from the Eden Project
  • Adventure playground, games room and spotless amenities

Sometimes all you want is peace and quiet. Yes, even if you’re going to Cornwall and thousands of other holidaymakers have evidently had the same idea at the same time.

But peace is possible among the madding crowds, as can be seen by a trip to Lanlivery’s Eden Valley Holiday Park, a secluded site in a Cornish valley surrounded by trees and rhododendron bushes. And when you’re ready to brave the throngs, the park is handy for the highlights of Cornwall including the famous Eden Project a few miles away.

As you might deduce, Eden Valley is geared towards families and those who aren’t into noisy clubhouses or flashy evening entertainment. It’s a peaceful place set up to be as private as possible, with a select number of pitches in each linked wooded paddock (there’s also a dog-walking paddock so even family friends can get a bit of peace).

Kids have a big playground on site with a woodland course, swings, bridges and a fort... just the place for extra privacy... And if you're feeling competitive? Try the indoor games room with its pool table and ping pong for family challenges.

Amenities are kept to a spotless standard by Darren, Ginny and the team, and include a shower block with roomy cubicles each with their own toilet, sink and power shower. A launderette is also on site along with separate areas for washing up and vegetable prep. All in all, a little peace of paradise…

Many thanks to Eden Valley for a great little stay - we only stayed for three nights during half term and the site was clean and quiet. We were really impressed by the facilities - a fantastic play park - a whole field seems to be devoted to it; a games room with a snooker table and a table football (50p's needed). The pitches were level and neat. It was like staying in a very well kept garden. Lots of hedges for privacy and lots of bigger trees too. All staff were very friendly and helpful.

The site is not far from the Eden Project at all, and Newquay is not much more than half an hour away and I guess the worst of the crowds during summer. The site is pretty much on the edge of the NT Lanhydrock and it's cycle paths, and of course the Camel trail at Bodmin. So lots of stuff to do with the kids. We will definitely be returning next year as we have a new favourite Cornish campsite now. I would say that the rates are very reasonable too, so excellent value.

Clean facilities and great staff. The site has a clever layout with small areas, a bit like cul-de-sacs, which gives it the feel of a smaller, personal site while providing the facilities of a large park. The location is great for exploring the Fowey River area and also gives good access to central areas. Good access to The Eden Project too. A safe site for families with a lovely play area. We would happily return and highly recommend the site.

Local attractions

Three of Cornwall’s major attractions are within a quick drive – the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Crealy Great Adventure Park – but a recommended start is staying local and heading over the hill a mile and a half away to the ancient town of Lostwithiel, set in the Fowey river valley.

After going local, go either north or south: north will take you to Bodmin Moor, home of the fabled beast and the place of legend, tors and Brown Willy, and to the National Trust’s country house Lanhydrock with sculptures, woodland trails, adventure playground and lavish gardens. Or there are the towns of Padstow, Newquay and Tintagel for seafood, surfing and swashbuckling tales of King Arthur; the Camel Trail runs near Padstow for horse riding, cycling and walking.

Going south, more biking and walking is along the China Clay Trail along with digging into history at St Austell’s China Clay Country Park. The town of Looe is within easy reach along the coast for fishing, shark spotting and a 12-mile walk to Fowey along the South West Coast Path if you’re feeling so inclined.
