General

  • Peaceful and private park in a Cornish valley
  • A few miles from the Eden Project
  • Adventure playground, games room and spotless amenities

Sometimes all you want is peace and quiet. Yes, even if you’re going to Cornwall and thousands of other holidaymakers have evidently had the same idea at the same time. But there is peace among the madding crowds, as can be seen by a trip to Lanlivery’s Eden Valley Holiday Park, a secluded site in a Cornish valley surrounded by trees, rhododendron bushes and local wildlife.

And when you’re ready to brave the throngs, the park is handy for all the highlights of Cornwall including the beaches of the south and coastline of the north – and the famous Eden Project a few miles away.

As you might deduce, Eden Valley Holiday Park is geared towards families and those who aren’t into noisy clubhouses or flashy evening entertainment on their holidays. It’s set up to be as private as possible, with a select number of pitches in each linked woody paddock (there’s also a dog-walking paddock so even family friends can get a bit of peace).

For the kids, there’s an extensive adventure playground on site with timber trail, swings, rope bridges and a fort – well, this is the place to be private…Feeling competitive? Try the indoor games room with pool table and table football for fruitful family challenges.

The amenities at Eden Valley are kept to a spotless standard by Darren, Ginny and the team, and include a new shower block with roomy cubicles each with their own toilet, sink and power shower. A launderette is also on site along with separate areas for washing up and vegetable prep. All in all, a little peace of paradise…

The cleanliness was excellent especially the shower and toilet facilities. Very friendly campsite and always someone available when we needed something. The layout of the site was great, wasn't to close to each other so had a bit of privacy. I loved the fact there was a little mobile coffee van available aswell.

The setting of the campsite was fantastic, especially if you love wildlife like me, there was plenty to hear and see, including a tawny owl. It was easy to find and definitely not to far from the Eden project. As our visit was very last minute for one night, the staff still made sure our tent pitch was close to the shower and toilet block because of my walking difficulties. As we were leaving very early the next morning, when we returned from a gig at the Eden project the manager was waiting for us so we could return the barrier card and our deposit, we were really grateful for this, grate customer service.

Everything! This campsite is amazing! Darren the owner is so friendly and knowledgeable. There are leaflets about the local area for guests to use.
The facilities are fantastic! The toilets and washing area were always available and extremely clean when we needed them.
There were brilliant dog walking areas and also a clubhouse where there was information and a freezer (which was very useful as we didn't have an elecrtic pitch)
The playarea was excellent and very large.
If you are considering this campsite, book it! We loved every minute.

Very good site, well kept. Toilets and showers were spotless what ever time of day I went in. Good washing up facilities and plenty of hot water. I liked the idea of the barrier (just had to remember to have card handy). The pitches are level with grass or hard standing. The owners were very friendly and helpful. I would certainly go there again if visiting Cornwall next year.

Local attractions

Three of Cornwall’s major attractions are within a quick drive of Eden Valley – the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Crealy Great Adventure Park – but a recommended start is staying local and heading over the hill a mile and a half away to the ancient town of Lostwithiel, set in the Fowey River valley with the river running through the town.

Have a wander around the Grade I listed St Bartholomew’s Church with its famous carved font, take a picnic to the Norman Restormel Castle for splendid views of the Cornish countryside, or follow the river from Lostwithiel along the six miles to Fowey for sightseeing, shopping, art galleries and restaurants.

After going local, go either north or south: north will take you to Bodmin Moor, home of the fabled beast and the place of legend, tors and Brown Willy, and to the National Trust’s country house Lanhydrock with sculptures, woodland trails, adventure playground and lavish gardens.

North from Eden Valley will also take you to the towns of Padstow, Newquay and Tintagel for seafood, surfing and swashbuckling tales of King Arthur; the Camel Trail runs near Padstow for horse riding, cycling and walking.

Going south, there’s more biking and walking along the China Clay Trail and digging into history at St Austell’s China Clay Country Park, with the town of Looe within easy reach along the coast for fishing, shark spotting and a 12-mile walk to Fowey along the South West Coast Path if you’re feeling so inclined.

Falmouth, Helston, Truro and Redruth are also easy to reach going south from Eden Valley and have a wealth of attractions and activities on offer: the National Seal Sanctuary, Poldark Mine and Flambards Theme Park to name just a few…

Elsewhere in Cornwall there are gorgeous gardens, castles, seaside villages and sandy beaches all over: make it your mission to get lost from Lostwithiel and remember to pack your camera, picnic and bucket and spade.
