Eden Valley Holiday Park: One of the paddocks

General

  • Peaceful and private park in a Cornish valley
  • A few miles from the Eden Project
  • Adventure playground, games room and spotless amenities

Sometimes all you want is peace and quiet. Yes, even if you’re going to Cornwall and thousands of other holidaymakers have evidently had the same idea at the same time.

But peace is possible among the madding crowds, as can be seen with a trip to Lanlivery’s Eden Valley Holiday Park, a secluded site in a Cornish valley surrounded by trees and rhododendron bushes. And when you’re ready to brave the throngs, the park is handy for the highlights of Cornwall – including the famous Eden Project a few miles away.

As you might deduce, Eden Valley is geared towards families and those who aren’t into noisy clubhouses or flashy evening entertainment. It’s a peaceful place set up to be as private as possible, with a select number of pitches in each linked wooded paddock.

Kids have a big playground on site with a woodland course, swings, outdoor table tennis and a goal post… just the thing for a bit of extra peace for the parents. And if you're feeling competitive? Try the indoor games room with its pool table and ping pong for family challenges.

Amenities are kept to a spotless standard by Darren, Ginny and the team, and include a shower block with roomy cubicles each with their own toilet, sink and power shower. A launderette is also on site along with separate areas for washing up and vegetable prep. All in all, a little peace of paradise…

    How clean the camp was

    Disliked:

Not really child friendly. Too many restrictions for children to play and enjoy themselves. Not really welcoming on arrival.

From the manager...

So sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay. It is very difficult to please everyone. We try our best to make our site as safe and as friendly as possible, however, we sometimes have to remind some children and adults of certain rules that are beyond our control.
Some people bring their scooters and race around the park to which we do have to step in and remind people that it is not safe to do. Electric scooters are not allowed on site as they are illegal to use on a public highway, the road through the site is a public highway when we are open-not our rules but a government rule.
Visitors to our park who stay for several hours are expected to pay and this can sometimes upset people who think they can invite several people on to our site and use our facilities for nothing.
We have a fantastic big play area with table tennis, pool football, timber trail and swings to which children can play, enjoy and just be children so not really sure what you mean by restrictions unless you mean children should be allowed to do whatever they wish even if they are being a nuisance to others or are in danger of hurting themselves or others.

I am very sorry if trying to make our site as safe and as happy as we can for everyone who stays on our site, some people can be upset if we have to uphold certain rules. I'm sure everyone who comes here would expect nothing less of us.

We’ve been visiting Eden Valley for around 10 years and we keep coming back for the peace and quiet, the cleanliness of the facilities and the location. It’s also great value. The showers get cleaned several times a day. It’s secure with barrier access. Waking up in the morning is so peaceful and all you can hear are the birds singing and the sound of nature. No road noise. There’s a nice walk up to the local pub, the crown for a pint and a burger or other pub food and it’s not far Fowey which is a nice little harbour. See you next year!

Highly recommended and well maintained site. Lovely, spacious manicured Pitches and the Shower/toilet block is immaculate. Would definitely go afain

    Disliked:

Although the toilet block near Crocus is immaculate and spotlessly clean there is a design fault in that the shower can leak under the partition and flood onto the floor of the adjacent toilet. If you are sitting and have your trousers down they may get wet!!!

From the manager...

Thankyou, we will look into the issue with the showers. we hope to see you again soon.

Local attractions

Three of Cornwall’s major attractions are within a quick drive – the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Crealy Great Adventure Park – but a recommended start is staying local and heading over the hill a mile and a half away to the ancient town of Lostwithiel, set in the Fowey river valley.

After going local, go either north or south: north will take you to Bodmin Moor, home of the fabled beast and the place of legend, tors and Brown Willy, and to the National Trust’s country house Lanhydrock with sculptures, woodland trails, adventure playground and lavish gardens. Or head to Padstow, Newquay and Tintagel for seafood, surfing and swashbuckling tales of King Arthur; the Camel Trail runs near Padstow for horse riding, cycling and walking.

Going south, more biking and walking is along the China Clay Trail, along with digging into history at St Austell’s China Clay Country Park. The town of Looe is within easy reach along the coast for fishing, shark spotting and a 12-mile walk to Fowey along the South West Coast Path if you’re feeling so inclined.
